Found Deceased MT - Selina (Selena) Not Afraid, 16, I-90 rest area between Billings & Hardin, 1 Jan 2020

Why aren't they [witnesses] talking the truth if she's alive? Don't they see it gets worse and worse for her and for them as time passes? Makes me so angry :(

I don't believe that she is alive. And I have doubts about the picture being taken of Selina that moment in time.

This story is the best plan that the people could come up with, "we dropped her off, she wandered away". It smacks of so many other stories that we have heard about missing people. No body, no evidence. No charges. Shrug.

Has anyone reading this, ever left someone at a rest area in the middle of no where? Desolate doesn't even begin to describe this area.

When Selena's case was first posted that was my first thought, look over here ....to distract while other steps were being taken to confound the searches. But as the case moved on and the events described by the other people in the van, I started thinking they were all just enebrated and that was why stories varied so much. Not sure about how LE can glean possible areas to search this is such a mess and valuable time has been lost :( MOO

Very concise and to the point, so thank you.
One problem with #3 though. We've all seen that she was alive at the rest stop, and it can reasonably be assumed that the call to her mother to go find her was concluded at or before Mile Marker 491, ten miles past the rest stop and seven miles from Hardin. It's 75 mile an hour highway through there. I doubt the crippled van was pushing the speed limit, but I'll bet her Mom was.
Do you really think the people in that van were capable of coming up with a plan and executing it that fast, on that day? Just asking.

I'm just not so sure that she was really at that rest stop. Does anyone know of any other witnesses not related to the people in the van that have come forward and said they definitely saw them at that specific rest stop?

I have to wonder about this as well. I don't think I've seen anything in mainstream media or LE releases that confirms it.

Big Horn County Undersheriff Eric Winburn declined to say where the search was focused, or if law enforcement was continuing to search areas near the rest stop.

"We're searching where we think she is, but I can't tell you where," he said."

Yeah, I saw that. I meant anything specific about whether she was definitely seen at the rest area, even if they don't think that's where she wound up..

LE has asked the public to call in with any information about seeing any vehicles or people at the rest area in question but no public information, that I'm aware of, that she or anyone else was seen at the rest area during the specific time period in question.

Thanks. I didn't remember seeing anything either way, but it's easy to miss stuff...

Does anyone know how soon she was reported missing? And also who posted the snapchat video, and when? I'm not familiar with snapchat. Is it possible to verify when and where the video was recorded?

Citing @Imstilla.grandma’s post number 358 in this string, aunt Cheryl Horn is quoted:
“We’re still actively positive she’s alive and we still believe she was removed from here. Some how she did leave the rest area and at some point she was picked up again. That’s what we believe."
LE is intensely searching for her, based on that information. IMO

"The family of Not Afraid reported her missing when she failed to return to her Hardin residence. Not Afraid’s aunt Cheryl Horn took to social media as early as 4:50 p.m. that same day to request help searching the rest area. The search continued in the early morning hours of Jan. 2.

Surely you realize that if someone has reported to LE that they saw Selina at the rest stop, those people are now key witnesses in what might become a kidnapping or even murder investigation; and LE would not disclose their identities and would certainly ask them to not tell anyone. IMO

This is significant, "the family of "Not Afraid" reported Selena missing".

Why didn't the Mother of the driver, who left Selena at the rest area, get to the rest area, she doesn't see Selena, logically, she would have contacted her son, to verify that Selena had been left at the rest area? At that time, Selena was missing, and endangered.

Why didn't this woman report Selena as missing? What is wrong with this timeline?

Complete coverage: The search for Selena Not Afraid

According to this article, Selena went missing around 2-2:30. They are asking for people to report anything who was at the rest area around then.

So, the Aunt, started looking for Selena around 4:50 pm, that is 2, 2.5 hours later. Why didn't the people who were with Selena report her missing?

Since the driver has not been named publicly, I can't prove that his mother was in Arizona on January 1, 2020, but that is my opinion. I don't think she has lived in Montana for many years.
I believe the aunt put out a general plea for MORE searchers at 4:50 pm. It is my opinion that the family started searching a good two hours before that time. JMO

Selena Not Afraid: Search for Missing Montana Teen

"Sheriff Pete Big Hair told KTVQ that the van had a mechanical problem the driver was able to fix.

The driver was allegedly worried the vehicle would stall again so he called his mother to get Not Afraid and another woman left behind. However, Not Afraid wasn’t there when the woman showed up, according to the television station.".

This is the "story". The driver called his mother to pick up the girls at the rest area.

Why didn't the people who were with her last, report her missing to LEO? Or is this information incorrect?

I am assuming that this green Subaru with Wyoming plates, which was noticed by family members on 01/01/2020, has already been checked out and found to not be involved in Selina's disappearance.

"[Selina's Aunt Cheryl] Horn said family members twice spotted a light green Subaru station wagon with Wyoming plates at the rest stop on the day Not Afraid went missing, and that investigators believe the driver of that vehicle may have something to do with her niece's disappearance."
