My family needs help. We have been trying for over 2years to have police in Kailua-Kona Hawaii investigate the death of our oldest son John. If there’s anyone on here that is living in Hawaii and can provide assistance we want to speak with you.
John was a single gay man who had sold his condominium in 5/2023. Shipped his belongings to us (I’m John’s mom) in Florida. John was also a disabled veteran.
We were lied to by people who called themselves ohana regarding the circumstances surrounding John’s death. We weren’t suspicious at first but when we were given a hospital envelope containing John’s phone and wallet I was surprised and asked how they happened to be in possession of John’s personally identifiable information. I was already in a state of shock but that shocked me even more and I insisted on going to the hospital even though it was late. Of course there was no one except security guards to talk to, security told us to come back in the morning, so I did. Looking back at that night I know I was in shock because I didn’t throw a fit demanding to speak to someone and find out why my son’s wallet and phone had been given to those women…. I was not myself is all I can say. Or maybe my guard was down because John had spoken of these women as if they were family, in fact I knit a blanket for one of them at John’s request for her firstborn child. So I didn’t think they had done anything wrong, I was angry at the fact the hospital had given John’s personally identifiable information to someone who had no legitimate reason to have them for an unknown reason (I thought) Then we discovered that John’s credit cards had been used after he died. Then we discovered that one of the ohana had deleted what she felt were graphic pictures John wouldn’t have wanted us to see (my husband was instantly suspicious about that) not me though, I wanted to love these people because my son had loved them. They had spent the last 4 years with him (during Covid) and I wanted to try and adsorb John in those years as I could so I trusted them and thought that it must have been someone else who stole the money but then we learned about the cars. Cars John sold to 2 of the friends that they didn’t bother to mention. That is when my husband took John’s phone, wallet and computer and went to the police. Strangely the police were not interested and that the cameras at the atms were all broken and they didn’t need to examine John’s electronics. My husband filed a theft complaint. The night we were leaving the island to bring John home one of the women finally gave us a copy of a signed title (forged) giving her possession of the car and seeing John’s forged signature on the title made me realize that she (Kerri) was a thief and a liar but it wasn’t until I was on the plane that I realized that they had all been lying to us about much more than that. Which is why I began calling the Hawaii police and asking why there needed to be a murder investigation. The theft/forgery case will expire in August of 2026 after that the Hawaii police will close the case and be done with it. I don’t intend for that to happen if I can help it, if you out here can help me.

I’m terribly sorry to hear about John. Please accept my heartfelt condolences.

I’m fairly new here, but I’m sure that an experienced sleuther will be along soon and ask you better questions than I can. Sending prayers and hugs.

I am so sorry for the loss of your son and for what you are going through. You may want to do some research to locate a reputable private investigator in Hawaii. They can assist you with the investigation process to build a case.
