Brandon Scott Gregory of Surprise ,AZ beat his wife Ali with a baseball bat in May 2025. I’m in shock because Brandon lived with my family as a roommate for many years and we remained friends until I left the country in 2015.
I am a true crime junkie but I never thought I would know a murderer.

The news reports say SHE was trying to get away from him? As well, she had a boyfriend while they were still living together. If Ali wanted and tried so hard to get away from Brandon Gregory, why was it Brandon who filed for the separation and divorce? He was also the one who filed the separation papers in August 2024. On 5/6/25 a Application/Affidavit And Entry Of Default was filed by petitioner (Brandon). It seems Ali was not signing the divorce papers so Brandon filed a default application so the divorce could go through. This all seems a bit misleading by news media and a few YouTube channels.

Court documents below. Brandon Gregory is the one who filed for divorce 1/21/25 and went through online parenting classes, was certified 3/5/2025. On all affidavits it was Brandon Gregory who was the petitioner.

This case is going to trial!!!

how disturbing. It must be very difficult to wrap your head around. Even if his version of events happened (him disarming a volatile screaming wife of a baseball bat)

By his own admission, he

1. hit her with the bat "several times"
2. wrapped her up in carpet and stashed her in her car along with all the cleanup evidence from the house (blood on the walls)
3. tossed her phone and got rid of the murder weapon
4. wrote an apology to his kids for having killed their mother requesting their forgiveness

‘Hate you forever’: Family speaks out after man allegedly beats his wife to death

To me, his version of events sounds extremely self serving. She brought the bat to the argument, she kicked him in his privates, she was screaming. Too bad she can't tell her version of events.

Did he control the couple's finances? Because if so, that could explain him filing for the divorce rather than her. There are fees associated, even if you plan to argue your case pro se.

Or perhaps he wanted to get himself on file as the petitioner rather than her so that he could feel in control of the divorce case.

Regardless, I am sure it was very shocking to find out someone you knew could take another's life, especially that of his mother's children.

I agree the allegations against him are damming to say the least. He will most likely plead not guilty and try to get a lesser charge. His pre-trial is on the 17 July so we might get more information then.

I am sure he filed the petition to somehow have control over the divorce but the fact that he again had to file an application for default on 5/6/25 just days before the murder so I am questioning why that was filed.

To me there are some unanswered questions.

Here is the court info for Maricopa County Superior Court case number CR2025-120523-001. It doesn’t appear that there will be a trial until at least Jan. 2026.

I’m really sorry about your friend @DeeMax. I know it must be hard to fathom. I think the fact that he was found with her body in his vehicle and confessed has more standing than the divorce documents though. I’m sure there are many unanswered questions that will be answered as the case progresses.

Did you know his wife? How long since you had seen him? If 2015, a lot can go wrong in ten years, sadly.

Hi Lilibet, I just saw your message!
I didn't know his wife although I heard a lot about her from Brandon. Brandon was a very handsome man and charismatic so many women fell for him over the years I knew him. I did not because I thought he lied too much so I caught on right away. Instead we became long time friends and that seemed to work for both of us. We treated each other like brother and sister. He was born in the same state I was (we both were living in California at the time) and he knew my children as they were going through teen years. He lived with us for almost 2 years before he married his first wife who I did know. He would be her 4th husband and only 26 years old. She had a child by one of them and it was very messy but he married her. It didn't last long.

I said all that to say he didn't have the best judgement when it came to women and often got himself into bigger messes than he could handle and would lie to them about pretty much anything. When I found out about Ali it was because she got pregnant and he asked my advice. He said he didn't love her but felt obligated to marry her and she was pressuring him so once again, he married her and again, it was very messy. Of course this was HIS side of the story.

He never wanted me to meet her because she was extremely jealous and often would get into arguments with her over her jealousy. It didn't matter to me too much but I told him I didn't to hang out with him while he was married so we ended our friendship in 2015 soon after the baby was born.

Sadly, when the last time I saw him he was not the same man I knew for so many years. He was distraught, depressed and said he had PTSD. He also said when they argued, Ali became physically violent with him. So, what made him kill her so brutally? I guess we will never know what happened to make this kind, jovial, loving man into a murderer.

I tried to see if he appeared live stream on any of his pre-trial dates but he did not. I'm wondering what the decision was as I cannot find out if he pleaded guilty or took a plea deal. Would you know how to find this out? Otherwise, he has two trial dates set. I'm not sure if it will be this week or in January.

Thank you for your interest and comment. I am very sad about the whole situation and wish I could talk to him but I don't live in the states anymore and it has been 10 years. One day I might write him a letter but until then I will hopefully find out more about his sentence and where he will end up.
