I have a nephew and niece who are bipolar, and also a friend. They can 'cycle' very rapidly, going from one state 'manic' to another' depressive, very quickly, sometimes in a matter of minutes.

When in a manic state, the require very little sleep and can stay up all night very easily, sometimes more than one night.

They speed (on the road), spend money they don't have, drink to excess, and believe they're invincible. That is called 'grandeur', where they feel all mighty, all powerful, smarter than everyone, sexy, pretty, etc. etc.

Just a few things I've learned along the way, from being in contact with them for so many years.

IMO...she does not have bipolar....she however IS a pathological, sociopathic liar. She stole because she wasn't working and had to have money...not the same thing as when a bipolar in manic phase spends like crazy. She just plain didn't have any money cuz she WASN'T WORKING!!! This is not the same thing as manic spending. Hell, she couldn't even pay for gas. Had to steal that too.

No, she is not displaying the behavior of someone in the manic phase of bipolar disorder. If that's the defense it'll never pass the scrutiny of any psychiatrist.

At best what they will end up with is a defense doc that says she has it and state doc that says she doesn't, and it will be up to the jury to decide if they are looking for a reason to dismiss/explain Casey's partying afterwards.

Most of this case will boil down to that, conflicting experts. If Casey had a better attorney it would concern me a bit, but it doesn't <smile>.

I personally don't buy this bipolar issue on any level. She was so manic she couldn't report the crime but was so rational she disposed of the body so efficiently that it hasn't been found. She dodged her bloodhound of a mother for a month, strong lie after lie after lie together, committed identity fraud, and her boyfriend never noticed a thing was wrong. Nope, not buying it, at all.

Exactly. If Casey is Bipolar, she has a pretty exceptional case--- manic for months at a time and no ostensible depressive period within the last six months. I'm not able to watch the show now-- has the person asserting Casey's bipolar disorder said she is being medicated or getting treatment for this disorder?

depression does not necessarily mean being in bed all day...alcohol abuse and drugs and lack of motivation to work are all signs of depression as well.

Sounds like the definition of many average teenage boys. :)

yeah...exactly. I still think KC killed Caylee but I have to admit this is a good defense strategy.

If and thats a bif if but if she is bi-polar then why hasnt she come down yet and let this kill her inside. Just cause "shes bi-polar" doesnt mean she doesnt have empathy. Well someone with bi-polar at least. It would have to hit at some point.

There are thousands and thousands of manic depressives..........that is NO EXCUSE to kill you child and it won't wash in court. Juries are NOT stupid.

Who says he misspoke?

(Originally posted by Shadow of my Mind):

June 16 Jesse called Casey, [2:52PM] spoke for 16 minuets, corrected it to 12 minuets, spoke about Cindy & George were getting a divorce and Cindy was not moving out and Casey had to get a place of her own. Hear Caylee in the background.

I am not saying he misspoke, but I do find it odd that he would remember which calls he heard Caylee during (and then have to rescind some memories). I think he is just trying to help LE, but they talk all the time. Most days at least once, usually more. My girlfriend that has a child and with whom I speak too frequently by phone, I wouldn't have a clue months later looking at my cell bill which calls her kid was in the background, which ones she was napping or which ones she was with someone else. Again I don't think it is malicious, but I don't think he has a clue when he heard Caylee.

I think the fact that she says she will lie and steal is going to take the manic state and debunk that. She is trying to cover for what she has done, bipolar people dont do that IMO

That is true because they don't realize they need to............GREAT POINT!!

My ex hubby's 1'st wife was bi polar with schizophrenia tendancys.
She could only see their children with a court appointed person there with them 100% of the time.
Casey does show some of the symtoms that ive seen in some Bi-polar people..
but again.. that is in no way an excuse for her behavoir with or towards Caylee. nor would it be a defense . I dont believe..

Alot of Bi-polars when they are in their manic stage.. (and they can have that stage for long periods) act alot like casey did.. and they are very loose sexually.. and show very poor judgment.
Who know if she is or not.. JB is surely not qualified to make that call.. and I dont think I would trust any dr. .he hires..lol..

I know!!!
Saying she's eating to the best of her ability, let's see pork rinds, pop tarts, tuna, salted snacks. Why can't she tell her parents that she's ordering stuff, why lie?

because her lips are moving -- and she can :) he he he and they believe her!

My mother has never hit a crippling, not able to get out of bed low...she shows her depression through anger and mistrust of everyone.

yeap! worked with people like this. not everyone expresses depression the same way....
guys, get ready this is the defense!

I see no reason not to believe that he did not hear Caylee on the 16th. Nothing released to date says Caylee was missing prior to then.
