Serious question, is it too much to expect LE/FBI to hold a presser? There was and continues to be huge, worldwide attention from last night, I think it would help for them to clarify and provide some clear information to avoid any more speculation around what happened and why no arrests
Unfortunately Pima county says no presser: a written statement may be forthcoming. But may have been cancelled by FBI according to Daily Mail.

A Shadow Hills resident tells News 4 Tucson that she witnessed three people being detained during a SWAT operation on Friday night. According to an unconfirmed report by a neighbor, a person shot himself in the head,
but there was no further information about that alleged incident.

Rbm.
Would like to know if that's been confirmed but not much is being said elsewhere, either.
Hoping progress is being made behind the scenes.
Omo.
CNN reporting person quesion released but as of an hour ago, no comment on the detained people

"Law enforcement officers have not said whether anyone was detained in the overnight operation. CNN has reached out to the Pima County Sheriff’s Department and the FBI for more information."

I believe they were detained atleast initially
I’m unable to access the CNN article due to the paywall. Is it possible some are still detained?

Last night's law enforcement operation ended without any arrests, law enforcement official says

From CNN's John Miller
The law enforcement operation that saw officers converging on two locations near Nancy Guthrie’s home last night concluded without any arrests, a law enforcement official told CNN.

Law enforcement questioned one man but released him, believing him not to be the kidnapper, the official said.

Bringing this forward. No one is arrested or detained: "concluded without any arrests" Extremely disappointing but part of the process.

imo, NO as articles says Concluded without arrests. If concluded, no longer anyone detained.

One man detained and released means nothing if more were also detained. They can hold someone without arresting them for a certain period of time.

I think this lead is cashed out tbh. And now we wait for the next lead.

Law enforcement questioned one man but released him, believing him not to be the kidnapper, the official said. The man was cooperative.

“We may see a couple more of these as this goes on,” Miller said.

Because it’s a kidnapping investigation with “a victim in the balance,” law enforcement will likely “move faster” than in other criminal investigations, Miller said.

“I think we saw that again last night, but this particular lead is not going to go any further,” he said.

OK I'm trying to catch up. With FBI taking charge my feeling it is about the ransom note. I sure hope not but that was stated by sheriff that part of the investigation was FBI. Praying for family right now.

I am considering getting cameras installed, any recommendations? Or ones to avoid?
I am considering restarting my camera's. I use Simpli Safe. I stopped about 2 years ago. If I have to upgrade equipment I think I'd rather go with Blink.

Does anyone in this thread have SG's book?

There are reported differences between local and federal officials, plus they don't want to jump the gun on anything. Just IMO

Any idea on a timeline of how long someone can be detained before they have to either make an arrest or release them?

I wonder what the combination of triggers are for these ops - evidence (i.e. investigative findings like phone pings, surveillance, vehicle locations) vs tips to LE/FBI? What is the combination of factors that is justifying this high level response? Certainly continuing to trust they are following leads appropriately and sound like they are getting their warrants approved by a judge, but what is giving them the confidence given what we've seen in the last few days?
Right now, this entire story is quixotic at best. Honestly, it's hysteria, imo. The spotlight is on them. It's a "high profile" case because of the celebrity daughter. It's a sympathetic case because of an 84 y.o victim. This case could and probably should have been an Arizona based news story after a few days with a few updates in between. The media is driving this story. If YOU were kidnapped, you would only be a story on WEBSLEUTHS. JMO

I believe people had posted here that LE had said there would be no more pressers until there was a significant break in the case, so I’m guessing they don’t have anything substantial to report yet unfortunately. I tried to find sources for this but there has been so much reported that I haven’t had luck but I’ll update my post if I find what I’m referring to

ETA: here ya go, finally found one after I posted this! Scroll down to 5 days ago with title ‘no suspects in the case, sheriff’s department says’. It says:

“News conferences will not be held until there are significant developments that warrant announcement, the department said.”

To be fair, many cases make national headlines without being related to a celebrity. An elderly person and ransom notes make for national headlines even without the celebrity aspect.

Could some of it be PR? To use a show of force to make it look like they are doing something?
I would  sincerely hope that's not the case!!! jmo

  • REWARD INCREASED: The FBI has doubled the reward for information leading to an arrest or conviction to $100,000. Authorities have said they are combing through thousands of tips they have received from the public since Feb. 1, when the mother “TODAY” co-anchor Savannah Guthrie disappeared from her home.
  • ‘WE WILL NEVER GIVE UP HOPE’: Savannah Guthrie shared home movie footage of her mother and their family on social media, writing: “Our lovely mom. We will never give up on her. Thank you for your prayers and hope.”
