I have heard it said that there's a swath of the population that cannot tell the difference between fact and opinion. It must be so tiring to work at that place.
It's been eye-opening.

The FBI can not take over at family request, only local or state LE can request.

If a crime is committed that is a violation of local, state, and federal laws, does the FBI “take over” the investigation?

No. State and local law enforcement agencies are not subordinate to the FBI, and the FBI does not supervise or take over their investigations. Instead, the investigative resources of the FBI and state and local agencies are often pooled in a common effort to investigate and solve the cases. In fact, many task forces composed of FBI agents and state and local officers have been formed to locate fugitives and to address serious threats like terrorism and street violence.
The local sheriff will never ask the FBI to take over imo

At the risk of sounding totally insane, has there been any discussion here of the potential involvement of another news personality or reporter(s)? Meaning NOT SG. I'll admit that I haven't read every single page of this thread so I apologize if this has already been asked or discussed. Thank you!
You mean to take SG’s place?

Someone doing this to derail her, not for romantic reasons but for monetary reasons?

I’m not sure it’s meaningful to speculate….

Interesting.
How many people would actually buy this particular mask and for what purpose other than some sort of criminal activity? Also, it looks incredibly warm. How uncomfortable is this thing while wearing it?
I would pull it off after mere minutes 😅
People who've never tried wearing one, IMO. 😁 Makes me think he bought a rather pristine one someone couldn't wear and donated to a thrift shop.

The eye holes are so uncomfortable and need constant adjusting, which requires you to take off your gloves or mittens to adjust. You no sooner get your gloves back on, and it's moved back into irritating your eye.

Oh, yes. There has been a swath of theories discussed on here including that one.

There was an anchor in the 1990s who was abducted.

In some countries, journalists become victims of crimes. But it's usually because of what they are exposing.

I think Jodi's case was probably a stalker.

Idk what to think anymore. The amount of people and vehicles that are camped out on NG road or near her home and that have been making videos of how dark it is and how they’re gonna go search for her, or “have permission” From the homeowner to be where they are..or looking for a place to pee. How does anyone know anymore. This person appears to just be walking through and not doing anything. I’m not saying it’s not suspicious and they shouldn’t be there. I’m just saying it’s difficult to discern. Making things so much harder for LE and that community I’m sure. MOO
I agree

If my mother was missing I would want the FBI to help, not local LE or SO. JMO.

It's fine to feel that way, but they are supposed to be cooperating with each other. The FBI is simply not capable of conducting this kind of investigation on its own, and it does not have the jurisdiction to take over a local investigation. With the federal government so heavily politicized right now, I don't think it's in anyone's interest for them to have full control of investigations like this considering that the motive could have quite possibly been political in nature. I say this as someone who believes wholeheartedly in the purpose of the federal government.

None of that is to say the local sheriff's department is doing great. I think both local LE and the FBI have dropped the ball in this case through incompetence or inexperience (hopefully not malice). Sure, they will point fingers at each other, but they ultimately both share the responsibility for the failures thus far.

Yes, I am familiar with Jodi's case! So sad. I mostly meant that I wondered if the perp could have been someone in the industry.

Sadly, I don't think they have much to go on. I think this will be another Missy Beavers type case.
from my following of the t rial the only thing really that they are waiting on is the genetic testing of the D
DNA and that can take months? The Mexico connection seems dead with no car description to look for
on cameras. Personally I think they could have easily taken NG to Mexico. Per BE's report today few know anything about NG or the. kidnapping.

Unless DNA pans out, I’m not sure if this will be solved any time soon. Sadly I think that if Nanos had some good leads he would be doing interviews about them. With Kohberger, LE was mostly silent while working through their investigation. There were a lot of rumors but unless investigators were asking for the public’s help with a piece of information, they were just busy on the case. They owe the public nothing, unless they feel they are in danger.
Moscow Sheriff faced a lot of criticism too

Not exactly. I mean to be considered as the suspect or lantana man.

Oh. I haven't seen the theory stated here as far as lantana man himself being a reporter. I thought you meant like another reporter hiring someone to commit this crime for revenge against SG. That one has been stated here.

Thus far, no one has been identified or arrested for the kidnapping.
Thus far no one has been identified or arrested for the ransom demand.

Every day that goes by without an arrest for one or the other makes a stronger and stronger argument that they are one and the same.

JMO.

Perps like to keep bodies close enough to them, so they can control the scene and observe comings and goings of law enforcement and the general public. ("Should I move the body? Is it in a safe place?") Unless this guy was from MX, I don't think he would take the risk of hiding a body in a foreign country.

We can speculate as long as we put in my opinion (IMO) or in my own opinion (IMOO). I also had this thought as well as someone jealous from her school years. Nothing has been mentioned about SG's prior marriage either which I find strange. Scorned ex?

Edit to add: IMO
