NEW VIDEO SHOWS TRAFFIC ON MORNING OF KIDNAPPING... FBI Discounts It

3:37 PM PT -- A source connected to the investigation tells TMZ ... The FBI has looked at the video and says it's a dead end ... the area where the cars are driving as well as the ingress and egress has led the Agency to the conclusion the cars have no association with the kidnapping.

BBM

They say they have looked at it and it's dead end........and yet they sent agents out to the house late yesterday to retrieve the tape..........to look at.

Video obtained by FOX shows a Ring doorbell camera about two miles from Guthrie’s Arizona home capturing several vehicles driving through the area the night she disappeared.

Authorities say at least 12 vehicles passed by between midnight and 6 a.m. on Feb. 1. Some were seen around 2:30 a.m., close to the time Guthrie’s pacemaker last synced with her phone

With limited physical evidence, experts say investigators are likely examining digital data, including cell phone activity and location information.

Authorities could look for patterns, entry and exit routes, and cell tower "pings" to determine who was in the area around the time Guthrie disappeared

Officials also said law enforcement no longer sees the need to seal off the family home as a potential crime scene, indicating they believe they have collected the evidence available from the residence. The home will be returned to the Guthrie family.

Two days ago, the FBI reported 750 tips had come in following Savannah Guthrie’s public plea for help finding her missing mother. As of Thursday, that number has doubled — surpassing 1,500 tips in less than 48 hours.

The surge comes directly on the heels of the family’s announcement of a $1 million reward for information leading to Nancy Guthrie’s return, and it marks one of the most significant developments in a case that has now stretched into its 26th day without a suspect.

I've been thinking the same thing. A story so insane you could never imagine it.
Yes. Strangely enough, according to the wiki, he’s currently in federal correctional institution in Tucson, too. It doesn’t mean anything, it’s just something I noticed.

I’ve thought before how it seems common for someone who commits a crime to visit the crime scene. I wondered if the person who took Nancy has revisited
Yes BK drove by the next day .

last night's Ashley Banfield podcast has a very good breakdown of the timing and id of the car.

Has there been any communication directly from the FBI to the public that they consider the video a dead end? I'm wary of "a source connected to the investigation tells TMZ...". It could be 100% spot-on but since it doesn't mesh with LE showing up at the house I'd rather see something directly from the FBI that it's been dismissed. Maybe that's happened and I just haven't seen it.

Right, they often don't want to let the public know what they are actually thinking/doing, for obvious reasons.

It probably IS nice for families. Not so much for the elderly. Good lighting lreduces the risk of two major threats: criminal targeting and accidental falls. If you are elderly you need proper illumination of pathways, stairs, and entryways to prevent trips and falls.
Re dark sky areas, I’m in one, maybe not as strict (or as dark) as NG’s.
I’m my area, most people have ample home lights, they are “down lights”, meaning there is a cover on the lights to shoot the light mainly downward. Sold at Home Depot, Lowe’s, not that uncommon.

Also, most people have movement sensitive floodlights so there is plenty of light in parking lots, when walking paths, stairs, near front door, back of house.

If a family has a BBQ dinner, they can light up the patio. They just turn it off after. No problem
It’s kind of an honor system here. I never heard of any fines.

The sky in town( pop 8000), lots of retirees, is very dark, see stars so well. 😃
Just 5 miles up the hill it’s incredible! 👀🤩🌟

There’s SO much risk, though, in taking someone out of their home. I just think it’s much more likely they’d break in and bonk her over the head. In and out. No messy dealing with a dead body (or a live person) that you just have to find a place to hide.
I totally agree. I could more easily understand taking her in case of DNA except they were all covered and it seems to have worked. BK would not have left DNA if not for the sheath. And apparently these perps did not leave DNA either. Unless some was overlooked at the crime scene. Not criticizing. Most DNA is invisible to the naked eye. I have no idea how they even "find" DNA to test. But, if they came to silence her, and were prepared not to leave DNA, why risk being seen , or dumping her her body?

It's much easier for me to believe they always intended to take her, for whatever reason, and covered up not to leave any DNA behind.

Agree.

The initial ransom was reported to be around 1 million then increased to 6 million after the first deadline. MOO bc I can’t remember who reported.

I am wondering if the reports about the initial ransom being $1M are true that that’s why SG is specifically offering $1M for arrest/conviction or body. IF ransom guys were legit, a way for them to get what they wanted initially 🤷‍♀️ MOO
Good idea, but I think it’s too late for the ransom guys to get $, too incriminating, it would lead to their capture.
I can’t wait until we actually see the ransom notes.

WOW. I had nightmares about the figure. When I showed it to my husband, he too thought it scary. I guess my husband is a wimp. (But what you write is so true.)
It still scares me to watch it.

You are so right comparing to BK! The perps probably researched BKs methods, to keep personal DNA contained.

There was a woman singing in front of her house. She was singing Amor Eterno and Over the Rainbow. Even had a mic and amplifier hooked up. She had a lovely voice and all, but...come on....People looking for their 15 minutes of fame......
Bring in the clowns. Carnival atmosphere will be perpetuated as this is prolonged...for awhile at least. One practical point. This is an unoccupied dwelling. VERY difficult to get home owners insurance. Thus, another reason to beef up the security cameras, perhaps erect a privacy fence etc. Generally, the insurance companies don't want to insure these places. Add in a location that will draw gawkers, souvenir hunters, selfie takers, mezzo sopranos (lol) and you have risk for all kinds of liability. Unoccupied primary dwellings are a red flag for most insurers. That contingent of suits the other day at the house could have very well had an insurance representative there also, to assess for damage done during the incident as well as future risk. risk. JMO

Apologies. I was posting another source talking about the light seen on one of the videos of the suspect at NG door. I’ve been trying to find other people who have seen it, as it is only on some of the footage as shorter ones cut off the end , when the light is seen. Apparently the source I linked is not allowed. At least I’m happy to see other people noticing it, because it took so long for LE to finally question whether or not the man without the backpack is different from the man with the backpack.
Now I’m seeing a few more people commenting on this light. Please take a look. Here is one video that does show it.

Isn't there some way they can hold the guy until he is ruled out? I could see driving by 2 or 3x or pulling up looking at the memorial and leaving but this 50 to 100x? Plus having her pic on his phone, I mean honestly, they need to check him out mentally but I know it is a public street so is there really nothing they can hold him on? No way a perp is going to come back and be that stupid when they got away with all that for a month. Unless they finally want to turn themselves in or they know something. I swear this just gets stranger by the minute.
AZ only allows 24 hours for questioning. They also have the means to forced someone they think is mentally ill to get evaluated. If someone mentally ill took her, there is no telling what the motive was. We might be able to understand afterward but I think figuring it out before someone is arrested would be very difficult for anyone.

One thing I have a hard time getting past is the apparent absence of any video of a vehicle driving to or from NG’s house that night. It’s not like we’re hearing that they exist but are too grainy, or hearing neighbors say “Yeah my camera picked up headlights moving but that’s it.” It’s just…nothing.

That community is actually pretty densely populated as far as affluent suburban developments go. The vegetation is thin sparse desert species like creosote bush, ocotillo, and cactus. To get in or out from NG’s house to a main artery, a vehicle would have to drive past a lot of houses. By now, everyone in the entire Foothills development with street-facing cameras has likely checked their footage and submitted what they had, if anything. Some people do set their cameras to 24/7 instead of just motion detection. No one picked up a vehicle’s headlights?

And we’re only looking at a timeframe of maybe two hours in the middle of the night when there wouldn’t be a lot of traffic noise from other cars on the road.

Even if the perp was somehow able to elude any cameras within the Catalina Foothills, there are the better lit arteries with businesses that surround it. The perp would have had to driven on E. Skyline, or N. Campbell, or E. River, or N. 1st for at least some amount of time. And then possibly to a freeway entrance with traffic cams.

So why hasn’t LE been able to release any stills or videos of a “vehicle of interest” taken within 2-3 miles of NG’s house with some grainy outline of a shape or a headlamp pattern a member of the public might recognize? Am I wrong in thinking they should have something, even if it has a 50% chance of being unrelated?
They released some Ring video of cars that night from a neighbor a couple of streets over, I saw and posted it this morning.

Maybe they did not expect her to be home. She left her car in the garage and took an Uber earlier. If they had been watching at that time, maybe they assumed she was taking a trip. If they did not have eyes on the house when she returned, they may have thought they were breaking into an empty house.
Very true. But I would imagine skulking around in the daylight would draw a lot more attention than they would want.
