The sheriff originally said...

Nancy Guthrie was last seen Saturday when her family took her home from dinner around 9:30 or 9:45 p.m., Nanos told CNN.

When she did not show up to church Sunday morning, a church member called her relatives, who went to her home around 11 a.m. to look for her, the sheriff said at a news conference Monday. A family member called 911 around NOON Sunday to report her missing.

Then it was changed again

  • 11:56 a.m. (MST): Family members arrived at Nancy Guthrie’s home in Tucson, Arizona, to check on her after she failed to attend a scheduled church service.
  • 12:03 p.m. (MST): After searching the home, the family called emergency services to report her missing.
  • 12:15 p.m. (MST): Pima County Sheriff's deputies arrived at the scene, according to investigators.
But it still has not been confirmed how they got inside from the sheriff

If they had a front door key ( No Confirmation) they would have seen the blood out on the doorway

And you would be calling 911 quickly

If it was originally 11 am when they arrived, that was nearly an hour inside her house

Then you start asking why it took them that long to be inside.

Remembering Nancy had poor mobility, so she wouldn't have gone too far to search

The sheriff should have spoken about this part of the puzzle, and it hasn't

He does not want to talk about it; So this part of the investigation he's keeping close to his chest

I'm not sure why how they got into the house is so important - maybe I missed something not sure - but I can tell you I have the exact tile Nancy has on my front porch along with a mat and if I'm in a hurry and there's any small debris on the porch I'm likely to miss drops of blood.

The other thing is - and I think someone else has addressed this - if they came through the front door and saw blood drops doesn't it make sense that they would immediately start looking for her? Maybe it's a nose bleed, maybe she cut herself and went inside to bandage herself, but in no case would I immediately think "oh no she's been attacked by an intruder".

Or, they didn't come through the front door they came through the garage or another door instead.

Why is which door they came through important to solving the case?

While it's not a big deal, I'm wondering that if he had been watching NG and her house, he would have known she went to a friend's house every Sunday morning and it seems a perpetrator would prefer to pick a night when she didn't have regular plans the next morning so that would give him more time before NG was discovered missing.

JMO

It's very important to the LE to know the time frames and who saw Nancy last, and whether it was a forced entry or not

But the public is getting mixed reports

Could it be they entered via the garage, hence the 11.56 timing (quite exact imo)?
This seems very likely! I'm betting they had the app for her garage door on their phones and since Nancy went in that way the night before it seems reasonable that they all use that garage door because it's easier.

What if NG always went into her house via the garage? If the family members dropped NG at her place the night before and if she got in via the garage, it's possible that they as well as she had (1) an opener for the garage door and (2) a key for any locked doors from the garage into the house.

So they might've gone in through the garage when going to look for her. If the earlier timeline is correct, that might explain why the blood in the front appears not to have been disturbed.

If the revised timeline is correct, they called the police very soon after getting to the house, either because (however they got in), she wasn't there and she couldn't've gone far or because they saw something bad, whether inside the house or on the front steps. The police certainly saw something bad.

JMO
I’d just want to point out the blood was likely dry by the time they arrived anyway- possibly 9 hours later.

That being said, if I were in same situation, I’d still have gone in and searched high and low for my mom assuming she somehow injured herself so to me the timeline of them spending under 10 minutes inside fits.

To do that, they would have had the app on their phone, as Nancy's phone was still inside

But the LE would know that by the data and time

But we are not told

The masks were clever. I thought intially that this person was female because of the facial features. When I saw their legs and thought about the height, it seemed more likely that he was male but they did a good job masking their facial features. JMO
They did. I wonder why they went to such lengths? Could it be someone that Nancy would recognise?

We are not told a lot of things by LE right? And thats exactly how it should be to my way of thinking.

That's a workable idea alright.

He was seemingly able to disconnect the camera at 1:47am without getting spotted by it (wifi jammer should have the range to accomplish this)

Then wait nearby and observe and/or listen on a scanner. If he was prepared enough to have a wifi jammer he'd very likely also have a police scanner

After 20/25 minutes with nothing happening he figured it was safe to enter but something went wrong with the jammer which allowed the camera to get back online, that's why he was surprised by it and grabbed the lantana and how it was able to get that final video to google's servers
This does seem quite possible. Otherwise, the time frame just didn't make sense. MOO

It’s good to see the facts through a different lens. My hesitation with these theories, though, is that someone who had a problem or obsession with AG could have targeted her directly. NG only makes sense as a stand-in for SG.
Idk. Without knowing hardly anything other than what the public has been told it’s hard to know. I can see the angle of a delusional person believing they’re not being paid attention to or taken seriously, maybe even unable to get close enough to their prime target so they kinda snap, …’oh ok, how about I take your mother, destroy your support system, and induce terror into your life.. . Do I have your attention now?’ Idk jmo

  • #41,210
That would have been a brilliant idea, actually. JMO
A talking police scanner or any scanner (or walkie talkie)that talks wouldn't be smart, imo. Even if NG was hard of hearing, she might have heard something and that would necessitate taking her. I dont think there were 2 people involved, anyway. He may have scoped out her home earlier or on another date but he acted alone. JMO

I have a question- if I link an Instagram post here, does it link to my user profile on Instagram? Thank you!

It could be just some kind of like murder 'fanatic', that could explain the seeming intense level of preparation.

Someone who thinks they are committing the "perfect" crime and it's the preparation and execution of the crime that is the point rather than the victim

But that's just wild speculation/thinking out loud on my part

SG is a lot harder to target and get access to. SG lives with a spouse and 2 children, likely has security when she travels, etc. JMO

Expert in discussing a fresh set of eyes needed to go back to NG house and FIND the forensic dna that must have been left to move this case foreward.

Read the article and I couldn't agree more. A tiny hair could turn this case so the entire property needs gone through again with a fresh set of eyes having a tiny hair in mind imo.

I agree with analysis

Ok, they could keep looking for evidence. Hair, pet hair, fibers from perps house, carpet fibers from perps carpet, soil/gravel/plant material from perps home( unknown source). See if there’s anything not explained in NG’s house. These perps really covered up! JMO

Interesting idea. We know that he put a lot of effort into the preparation and execution of this crime. While he may have targeted NG, he may have been doing all of this to prove he was able to commit the perfect crime, that he wasn't a loser and that he was a competent guy. JMO

Hope FBI and LE think about this or get a tip about this article. One tiny hair could solve the case and bring NG home. JMO

My daughter has the button in her car. When she comes over, she just hits the button in her car and my garage door goes up. It's programed for our cars and her car. No phone apps involved. Maybe that's why NG's car is being held. i dunno jmo

Nancy is a very low risk victim & the motivation is unlikely to be sexual or financial. I think this is about Savannah & some creepy eccentric trying to feel a connection to her by association, perhaps feeding off of Savannah’s pain. I think the abductor is a man who is eccentric & antisocial.

If it isn't financial, how would that tie in with the ransom requests?
