They were outside videotaping their dog at 2:00 a.m.?? I know I read that right, but...

Well, I'm stunned.

Yes! That made my spine tingle! Like...was that staged? SO STRANGE. Listen to the episode...even Maureen seemed shocked.

Why didn't they stay inside and call LE?

JMO, that the Sheriff, FBI, and elusive sources are slowly imparting some truths and some lies. I'm suspicious of most information beyond the early pressers. For this reason, I'm back to wondering why her phone was said to be found in her car. That idea faded quickly but it did exist.

To me it makes no sense to tell the public that the monumental hunt for the Walmart backpack receipt was fruitless, but that the best and the brightest brainstormed to uncover this source called EBay so all hope is not lost!...etc Any statements that seem meaningless, I consider dubious at this stage.

They must be closing in on somebody. I'm crossing my fingers they get this creep off the streets.
I had the exact same thought about the backpack. Why would they tell us, as with almost all else, "Our exhaustive search turned up nothing, so the perp must have gotten the backpack at a thrift store? Darn it." Remember that anything LE is telling us, it is also telling the perp or perps. So why would LE TELL the perp, "Well, we couldn't figure out who you were from the backpack you bought at Walmart, so you're probably gonna get off"?

It only makes sense that they don't want someone to know they are on to him (likely already being surveilled). Especially as they get closer and closer to getting him.

About halfway through his report tonight, Brian Entin said that the neighbors who claim their home camera had a glitch during the time their dog woke them up showed him a video of the dog acting strange. (cellphone video? not sure.) He led his owners outside, had his ears up, and was looking toward Nancy's house. Maureen O'Connell asked him, what time did this happen? Brian said, around 2:00. 😲

I thought the neightbor's video glitch initially sounded suspicious, but this dog video that they showed Brian is blowing my mind, and I'm not sure what to think.

(If one of my two dogs woke me up in the middle of the night and dragged me outside, my first thought wouldn't be to record them...so they were quick on their feet.)

Just when I feel like I'm understanding the case a little better another thing comes to light and my brain feels muddled.

Good comments tonight by Brian, Maureen, and Jim Clemente. Both guests said this is not a cold case. Now that I've heard their comments, I have a strong suspicion that the perp(s) are in the same neighborhood.

JMO.

Does that white vehicle parked in front of the house Brian is walking by at 40 seconds look like the one people thought may be a Kia Soul or Dodge Durango on the fairly recently released neighbor's RING camera footage of vehicles driving by?

I'm going to definitely watch it tomorrow.

I have so many questions. Did they show the video to LE? Did they volunteer this info to LE?

I don't know . . . I'm trying to think what I would do if there was an elderly women living next door and my dog was acting strange at 2:00 am and the indications were that the dog sensed something was going on in her direction.

Brian said if it happened with his dog he wouldn't have called (ie, not realizing the magnitude of what was happening at that moment). I wouldn't have either.

I have the same questions!

I liked Maureen's and Jim's comments about LE going back to the same people in the neighborhood and questioning them again.

A hopeful thought keeps coming to my mind: someone has come forward for the reward with the case breaking tip. But LE needs to button down all the evidence first before the perp is arrested to insure the case is rock solid for court.

No way would they let the public know about the informant in real time lest 1) the perp realizes he's been named and runs, and 2) the informant's safety is jeapordized.

As I said, a hopeful thought...because we haven't had many of those lately.

JMO.
I agree, we are only hearing things like "the back pack was a dead end, case closed" BECAUSE they are closer to solving this, not to let us know they are farther away.

This is a good theory about the 9:48 p.m. and 9:50 p.m. opening/closing of the garage but I think some other technology is telling them this because no video footage was recovered until February 10th and that was from the front Door nest camera.

Sheriff Nanos revealed a timeline with the 9:48/9:50 garage opening/closing info at the February 5th presser. He also said that those were approximately the times and that he couldn't stress that enough.
My garage door opener app tells the time my door opens or closes.

I respect your opinion, but question do you think one person could carry Nancy out of her home? Plan to relocate her body somewhere locally?

Maybe the reason a person hasn't come forward for the reward is because they are loyal to the perp, and/or the perp has something over their heads, and/or they were involved in the crime and/or the coverup, and/or they are fearful of the perp.

JMO and was listening without watching, but when BE told the story of the dog at 2:00 a.m., I thought they showed him a file from their camera footage at that time. My first thought was, I thought those camera files weren't available. Anyways, I assumed I was wrong but I never thought of filming the dogs. Idk weird, but the man is super nice.

At 2am, I cannot imagine following my alarmed dog outside, let alone having the wherewithal to film it. I’d probably be racking a shotgun and turning off interior lights, ready to dial 911. JMO

What an amazing dog. From inside his house, he heard or sensed something that was wrong and made sure to get the attention of his owners and even took them outside.

These people were brilliant to let their dog take them outside and to video their dog since it was so unusual for this dog. They were outside with the dog and they couldn't hear anything or sense anything was wrong.

I also wouldn't have thought my dog was alerting us to a crime. Just wouldn't have been on my radar to call LE.

Now, however, with hindsight, I would immediately call LE, just in case.

Actually, if our dog was that upset about sometime, going outside wouldn't be the wisest. I suspect their dog insisted on going outside and they weren't concerned about criminals being out there. Retrospectively, if our dogs are unusually upset and concerned about something, calling LE would be the first thing I would do if this happened with our dogs in the future. But, many of us are thinking differently now than 5 weeks ago.

Many blood splatter experts appearing on the news stations have said that the blood on the porch looks to be consistent with her being upright and walking herself out.

Yeah, a while ago one of our dogs woke me up in the middle of the night, and I let her out to the backyard watching her from the door in case there was a coyote. It turns out she had major gastro issues from eating something she shouldn't have. (This happened multiple times that night. I had to take her to the hospital the next morning.) It would have never crossed my mind that there could have been something nefarious going on in our neighborhood or that I should film her.

Exactly the same. Just wouldn't have been my first thought to call LE or to think a crime was being committed nearby. JMO

Glad your dog was okay!

That's really interesting. Blood splatter experts certainly would know how to read the blood on the porch.

If she were alive and able to walk out the door, that creates all sorts of questions related to the perpetrator's motives and goals in this crime.

That does seem odd, but maybe they thought the dog was alerting to some sort of animal, which they hoped to videotape? Though if it was a dangerous animal, might not be a good idea to go out.

Or maybe they just wanted to tape the dog itself, acting strangely... Maybe they're the sort of people who are always on their phone to videotape everything.

(Unless they didn't videotape the dog after all, but instead pulled surveillance video of the dog. But that would have had to have happened at a different time than the glitch in their surveillance video. Very confusing.)

It seems to add another layer of sadness to it, at least for me. It throws in a big "if only" factor. If only they had called 911 - but then again, on what grounds? The dog heard something/was acting strange?
