Insomnia = doom scrolling and I just saw this on my FOR YOU column at X. I don't recall seeing this particular post posted here. My apologies if I missed it and this is a duplicate.

This is pretty wild. jmo/moo

ETA: She posted this 16 hours ago; however, as I'm reading through the comments (on X), I think this case was also discussed here in the early weeks of NG's disappearance.

Another young man in Texas recently sentenced after a December 2024 wrench attack home invasion. Two more face charges:

Man sentenced to 45 years in cryptocurrency home invasion

The wrench attack theory was posited early on in the thread. I've felt that this has a high likelihood of being the motive. Would explain the blood if they demanded she give them access to her Bitcoin wallet and she didn't/couldn't, and it would explain the specific amount if that's the amount they knew she had - or their handler told them she had.

Obviously at 84 years old she probably didn't know how to access it so perhaps they leveraged her for someone who they thought did? SG probably manages NG's finances, or has an advisor manage her portfolio for her, and so he/she probably invested a bit in Bitcoin since it has been all the stock market rage the past few years.

And as the internet becomes more and more thrill-seeking, desensitizing, nihilistic, and for those with the mindset - depraved.

JMO.
The publicity of this case really makes me wonder if there will be copy cats of sorts. I don't think there anything wrong with media following and reporting on the case (as long as they are not cruel to the family or NG and do not hinder the investigation), but I hate the idea of kidnapping becoming a ticket to someone's 5 minutes of fame.

I am specifically wondering whether Nancy would have experienced withdrawal symptoms from her medication, distinct from not having the positive effect they have on her symptoms.

For example, ‘cold turkey’ effects from the medication I am on makes me very tearful, makes me actually vomit and gives me horrible electrical buzzing in my head. (Afaik, this is very different medication to Nancy’s).

That's a great analysis, appreciate you sharing your knowledge! Do you think this perp is the combination psychopathic personality and narcissistic personality? Is that the reason why we are having so much trouble understanding why he would do "x" but also do "y" which seems counter to "x"?

The psychopath who is making a business decision re: the ransom note, why would he think he had to put pressure on the family to pay the ransom? The pressure wouldn't matter to this family at all, they had the means to pay they just wanted proof of life and maybe a play that sounded reasonable for the exchange.

Why people do what they do has always fascinated me and never more so than in this case.
It is difficult to determine what is going on. We don't have much data to go on. And the evidence we do see seems contradictory at times. Then we see LE walk back the data we thought we had.

We don't know if the abductor was one person, or two, or a team. We don't know if the abductors sent the RN or not. So perhaps some of the contradictions are due to possibly looking at more than one person, more than one group.

There has been controversy about the ransom notes. LE and FBI don't seem to know if it is from the kidnappers or not. We don't know if there has been POL of not. This has to be a heart wrenching decision for any family. And will take time to decide what to do.

In the meantime the kidnappers want their cash and want it quickly. They have committed a serious crime which could result in life in prison or death penalty. They have abducted, transported, housed an adult which is very risky. The clock is ticking. Perhaps it was a business decision to go public to the TV station to put more pressure on the family, I don't know. I was trying to point out the difference in motivation between a narcissist vs psychopath kidnapper.

I find it interesting that when LM approaches the front door, he doesn’t seem to check whether it’s unlocked, which is something I’d normally expect a robber to do. It’s also interesting that he doesn’t appear concerned at all that Nancie might actually have heard him and be on the phone with 911 while he’s casually standing at the front door trying to cover and remove the door camera. I wonder if that suggests that maybe there was someone else already inside the home.

On the subject of possible elder abuse, is the theory that someone was abusing her for a while in the house? A healthcare worker? I mean, what they did the night she went missing is obviously elder abuse but now we’re considering ongoing elder abuse? Does elder abuse also mean falling for scam artists? I’m not exactly sure what the exact definition of elder abuse is. I always think physical.

I think he was prepping to remove NG from the house. He removed and took the door bell camera to avoid images of the kidnapping. JMO

I think it is a very broad term and can range from stealing medicine to physical harm. I'm not exactly sure what they had in mind but if somebody targeted NG for kidnap because they believed she was wealthy or had access to wealth, was vulnerable for multiple reasons including her age, and caused her home to observe her habits for selecting a time and day. If the kidnapper had a connection to NG then their actions constitute elder abuse. JMO

But why is that million dollar reward not bringing this person forward?
Possible explanations:
1. Crime was committed by one person who was successful in keeping it secret from everyone else.
2. Possible witnesses or inner circle are too afraid to speak out.
3. LE has some valuable leads and investigations are in progress.
4. Reward is in process of possibly being paid out as we speak?

They were outside videotaping their dog at 2:00 a.m.?? I know I read that right, but...

Well, I'm stunned.

jmo
Maybe that was very unusual for the pup to behave that way? Something must have made them think it was odd behavior so much that they filmed it. I need a watch the BE video.

  • #43,951
That does seem odd, but maybe they thought the dog was alerting to some sort of animal, which they hoped to videotape? Though if it was a dangerous animal, might not be a good idea to go out.

Or maybe they just wanted to tape the dog itself, acting strangely... Maybe they're the sort of people who are always on their phone to videotape everything.

(Unless they didn't videotape the dog after all, but instead pulled surveillance video of the dog. But that would have had to have happened at a different time than the glitch in their surveillance video. Very confusing.)

JMO
I will watch the video as soon as I get caught up, but have a question. Is their yard fenced in? I don’t think I’ve seen any houses near Nancy’s house with a fence. I’d be worried the pup would take off after whatever they were interested in. Hopefully they trained their pup well so he knows the limits of not going anywhere too far.

Many blood splatter experts appearing on the news stations have said that the blood on the porch looks to be consistent with her being upright and walking herself out.

JMO.
I don’t know why I’m having a hard time thinking she walked out on her own? She would be under so much fear and stress, plus it’s dark. My thoughts are she didn’t leave alive, so now I’m going to have to rethink things.

Regarding the blood spatter on the porch: has someone from law enforcement said it was from the nose or cough or is that speculation? I was watching Ed Wallace weeks ago on the Duty Ron you tube channel. He is a forensics guy, retired NYPD detective, and he said they would have to test the blood for amylase. That would indicate if it came from the nose or mouth. I don’t recall having seen anything from the sheriff or anyone else working this case.

Same question about the direction of the blood. Most say it came from dripping downward but that doesn’t mean she was walking, she could have been dripping blood while slung over his shoulder. I haven’t seen anything from law enforcement other than that the blood is Nancy’s.

A lot of people will film their pets exhibiting unusual behaviour in case it turns out to be a symptom of a health issue (so they can show the video to their vet)

I had wondered if maybe NG regularly had dinner with her family on Saturday night and it was a routine the perp had learned somehow, if that's the case, it would be relatively easy for the perp to watch either AG's house or NG's house to confirm NG came home that night
100% this imo. I think if you’re going to do a ‘rehearsal’ you do it when you expect circumstances to be the same. Just because the perp only appears to have visited the porch on those 2 occasions doesn’t mean that there wasn’t a lot watching, drive bys, etc, whether by the person we’ve seen or by someone else pulling the strings.

I think there was a lot of planning put into this crime, and hence why I think it was a targeted abduction, for ransom.

If just a burglary I don’t think they would have gone to as much trouble to know out the front door camera. Why even use the front door., go in and out the same way.

He ( and I imagine any accomplice ) was so masked & covered up that imo an elderly lady, just woken, with her glasses on or hearing aid in, would never recognise or identify them.

However it backfired for them because she sadly passed on, so they couldn’t provided proof of life and had to let it go.

Hoping for some answers soon, I think it's far from a cold case, LE/FBI are keeping things close to the vest. Looks like GG is definitely in the works.

Here's a brief snip of an article at the link:

<snipped>

"I am confident there is a good amount of familial research underway concerning the DNA samples found in the residence. There won’t be any press releases concerning that...until a potential suspect is identified," Rogers said.

I take blood thinners. Recently, I had a tiny (!!) open sore on my calf, but I didn't know it. I just then went into the bathroom, and after a moment, when I happened to glance at the floor, there were many thick, circular bloodstains scattered about, and a little blood was running down my leg onto my foot. I couldn't explain the many round drops on the floor. But I immediately thought of NG and the front door. Since then, I've switched from thinking, it was a nosebleed to the possibility of a small wound on NG's leg bleeding (when she walked).

How about this? It was never really about the money. Perp demands HUGE, oddball amount and payable in bitcoin. Some might think the ransom should have been paid regardless of the proof of life the family attempted to negotiate or any other condition. Even the most loving and financially fixed family might pause and they did.

Perp never wanted the money. He is probably disappointed that LE or these backwards thinking kidnap gurus even brought up the proof of life aspect. IIRC the perp disclosed that NG was alive but scared. Absence of proof of life from perp gets SG off the hook. Cant pay. No proof of life. Then, later, we will pay and didnt. He wanted to embarrass SG. Ya wont pay for your mom's return? You promised to pay but didnt? Public reaction didnt lean towards that reaction because that wouldnt be politically correct and it would be victim shaming. However, IMO, that's what the perp wanted. It was never about the money. it was about making SG look bad. JMO Thoughts?
Napoli imo this is just as sound as anything else, truth being that we have no idea of the motivation nor of the doing - just that she has disappeared and is presumed abducted that night / morning due to camera pics of a dodgy looking person on her front porch, house damage of some description, a crime scene according to Nanos, and drops of her blood on the porch.

It’s just yet another horrible situation. She should never have been made to endure this and neither should her loving family members. My heart breaks for them all. I pray for their strength and for an opportunity soon to farewell Nancy with the dignity to which she’s entitled.

Yes! That made my spine tingle! Like...was that staged? SO STRANGE. Listen to the episode...even Maureen seemed shocked.
I just don't understand something and maybe someone knows? How do these podcasters get their tip?. Who pays the podcasters? and more importantly, do the people who are being interviewed get paid by these podcasters?

Second thing.. Here's a doozy for everyone. There are people in the cybersphere who firmly believe that the entire kidnaping was staged as a publicity stunt. Yeah, you read that right. Um, where would they get Nancy's blood for starters? My cousin was saying her colleague believes this too. Sorry but i do have to scratch my head on that one. JMO

I've seen Krieger (sp?), the retired PCSD source quoted in the article discuss the case a few times. I like him. He's suffering from bad PTSD due to his years in homicide. Always interesting to hear from experienced locals.

Coincidentally, Krieger also had a major run in on duty with the subject of the second swat raid, LD. Small world.

I agree they are closing in on a suspect. The special task force's approach is evidence driven, focused, and exhaustive. All MOO. There's a wide scope to that's narrowing little by little.
