This case is so crazy sad. I really hate the world we live in now. People are so evil and hateful- hard to have much hope for the future. I feel so bad for the family.

I have thought about this too. I have a dear friend whos father (a bit younger than NG) is regularly getting scammed into sending bitcoin to random people. At one point he was convinced he was communicating to/sending bitcoin to Shania Twain. I’m not saying that’s what I really think happened here, but I have thought about it because it does happen and it’s horrible!

Oh geeze! It really is horrible. I'm so incredibly thankful that my 71 y/o mom can see through all of that. We laugh when artists like "Pitbull" and "Ed Sheeran" follow her on Instagram.

I have to say that I am unfortunately feeling like the family is asking for her body to be returned because of the line „this is the only way we‘ll have peace“.

Or because paying ( and knowing they did everything they asked for) is the only way they will feel peace?

I agree with so many of you that NG has passed. Imo, she didn't live much after being taken or she passed at her home.
I think it was someone that knew her or been to her home before. I guess i don't think this was random. Why? I can't figure out. Ransom note and kidnapping an 84 year old is so odd that its hard for me to to believe. Its like someone watched to many movies to even think they would have gotten away with getting money and then trade for an alive NG. Not all criminals are smart but this is out there.

The 'with her' was odd to our ears, but the whole vid, minus their faces and demeanor together , 'as one' on the couch, did seem pointed words were very carefully used. You know the FBI has coached each word as they do in these situations. It is keeping communication open, aligning themselves with the abductor with 'understanding'. Bowing while in such pain, to them. This is for a reason as well of course to please have their mother sent back that they 'will pay for'. Brutal. Don't know if this will 'fool' the monster to do as asked, paid of course. They let a woman die, a human being who belonged to a loving family. IMO

Yes, every word and movement calculated. The avoidance of eye contact this time around as evidenced by all 3 purposefully looking downward was very telling. Yes, their emotion was real but the downward eyes of all 3 multiple times was almost mechanical as if to be very apparent on purpose.

They mean, the Super Bow is a national sport event. National, regardless where it is held, which is California. I assume the original commenter meant to 'spring' the big 'reveal' during that.. attention. The one that said BB won't care is personal feelings on the performer IMO. None of this will be happening, just a possible explanation. Wishing comfort to the family through their strong faith.

There have been more than 20 pages posted since I was here last, so there's no way that I can catch up before asking about responses to the earlier "Breaking News" about the family's new video. My reaction, as well as DH's, was that the ransom request is beginning to sound like extortion!

It's possible she died while captive, perhaps accidentally or from injuries sustained, and the kidnapper communicated that but is still trying to get money out of the situation.

But IMO the "kidnapping" is a farce for murder.

Hey, longtime lurker, don’t really post, but something’s been bugging me:

It seems like there is a lot of predictions that the perpetrator is someone close to NG, perhaps even close family. If this is the case, SIL or otherwise, why would they set up a weeklong kidnapping event, knowing NG can’t survive without her medication and the ability to track her pacemaker? If we are assuming that the perpetrator is close to NG, why would they have expected her to be able to sustain herself without her important medical items until a Monday deadline? Why would they have not brought her medication as she is, and I do hate to say this, probably worth more alive than deceased to them? It just seems to me that if the horrible person who did this knows NG as well as we suspect, they must have known that what we are all hoping didn’t happen was a possibility. All respect to the family, but I do wonder if the “Thursday was the deadline for life” theory was correct, or if she was never intended to be returned alive. It’s devastating, prayers to the Guthrie’s. I can’t imagine.

Maybe the roof camera that was recovered showed she was not alive when she was abducted? It didn't sound like second note confirmed she was dead--unless there was specific info in that communication hat only the family could interpret this way. Very sad. I really can't imagine the family's pain.

Savannah's opening words "we received your message... and we understand." Everything she said following relates to this.

I can't see how definitive proof of death could be seen on cam footage, in this case anyhow...a body would have to be pretty messed up to confirm being deceased.
