Yes exactly....it's what I meant by my saying that they wish to lay her to rest and be close to their mom.
Awful to think they could never know where she is if not returned.
Agree, hard to fathom! When we think a little over a week ago, Nancy was living her life.
It’s all so sudden and tragic.

At this point, I think the ransom is 1. A diversion to throw LE off, or the suspect off 2. Once the person who did this saw it in the media, they decided to make a money grab.
Even in war they release video of hostages to bring attention to a cause etc, they would have more leverage showing proof of life.

JMO, and saddens me to say it

Probably a good time to mention that Kidnap and Random Insurance (K&R) is a thing and can be gifted (like from an adult child to their parent).

They sometimes offer it alongside travel insurance when you're going out of the country (I know I was offered it when planning a trip to Guatemala several years ago). Companies with employees that travel to high risk areas, like journalists and politicians, often offer it as part of a package. But it also can be bought as a standalone package by anyone if that's a concern.
When I had to travel to Nigeria for work, we had to bring along bribe funds....and they were used. This back in the late 80s. A taxi who took a colleague alone to the construction site, stopped in the middle of nowhere and declared "car broken !"
He freaked our before he realized that was what his bribe money was for.

Watching live feed outside AG's house. Multiple reporters on scene definitely stating they are seeing flashes taken inside for nearly 1 hour now.

what sort of pics would they need from the garage?

if he is involved I think it is not him but someone that he knows.
This same thought just crossed my mind

There is simply proof that an elderly woman is missing under suspicious circumstances. There is proof that there is a ransom being demanded. There are indicators of foul play. To automatically link all of those together into one crime being committed by a single perp/group of perps would be doing an injustice to the investigation IMO

The behavior of the involved actors indicates pretty clearly that the investigation has surmised that the kidnapping and ransom claim is legitimate. Reasoning and objectivity suggest this. This isn't a ruse to catch the real perp. SG isn't in on a LE effort to entrap her BIL or some other person. Ashleigh Banfield is neither a plant nor an authority. This is real life with real procedures to follow. Procedures that must be followed transparently or a perp will not get convicted.

Anything other than what we have seen with our own eyes the past week, or what has been happening before our own eyes for the past week, is hunch-based and perhaps even rationalizations to justify a presupposed bias or a misguided trust in an external actor's credibility and/or entirely anonymous sourcing.

JMO.

Might this be the visit that was intended last night when no-one was home?
I wonder if there is a forensics vehicle like there was last night?
There was a forensics vehicle there last night as per pictures posted by reporters.

Exactly. Procedures must be followed or potential evidence will be thrown out.

I thought it looked more like a light turned on and then off.
Could it be a different kind of camera flash?

Forensic teams detect latent blood at crime scenes using chemical reagents
which produce a blue-white, chemiluminescent glow in total darkness. Cameras, often equipped with tripods and set to high ISO (e.g., ISO 400), are used to record this fleeting luminescence to document evidence.
