Looks like a halloween costume. Like why go to trouble of removing front door doorbell camera looking like that. Car was probably near garage if on property, so take NG out the side door. Just seems like NG was already removed from house and this was a coverup.

Didn’t even have to destroy the camera. Covering it with tape would work…but alas person brought none. Then backtracks on camera to show gait (which will help determine height) and shoes, which can lead to shoe size from size of tiles. Not a thorough plan-ahead or during. Did they think a ski mask and gloves would be enough? Happy to realize this criminal slipped up, as I was starting to feel it was super powers were involved. Or the luck of the Irish.

As being reported on Fox Live (so can't provide a link to what I heard/saw on TV).

The talking head said that he held the plants up to try to block the video. I don't agree with that. I mean, why block with a few plant strands? Especially when he came with a backpack he could have taped paper over it, used his thickly gloved hand, ANYTHING but a few plants strands. That makes no sense to me.

It looks like to me like he's holding them up so the camera can see them, like they mean something to him. But what?

The video shows that he picked the plants from just outside the door and then held them up to block the camera. His other hand was likely busy dismantling the camera.

I don't think he would take the time to put down his backpack and fish around for something to block the camera due to the time that would take. IMO, the look in his eyes shows extreme adrenaline and he wants to get this done fast.

my other thoughts were that the blocking of the camera with the flowers and (weirdly) with the side of their fist were some kind of test of the camera's sensitivity? or something like that? though I don't know how they could get feedback unless they had the feed hacked. ... and that seems to require another person watching it and talking to the perp over earbuds. and I don't know what the purpose would be, especially since perp is already captured on video and they ended up smashing the camera anyway.

in general, the perp seems like they're being careful, but in ways that are hard to make sense of.

with the business of staring at the ground, it looks to me like perp is being careful to walk on cracks rather than flat tile. maybe to avoid leaving good shoe prints? the door mat isn't an issue because it doesn't keep prints.

No spectacle. The FBI did fantastic work here and released the images and video quickly. IMO

It's possible they were hesitant to release the images/video with the ransom note and the Monday deadline. Since that has passed, they now felt comfortable releasing it.
