I heard earlier that her camera was one of the older styles where the info was saved on a card rather than uploaded to the cloud.

McCabe making the same point I made earlier, that it’s hard to imagine a kidnapper delaying a ransom demand like this (based on the victim’s condition.”

Also talks about why the family would be encouraged to do this, and why police would be back at Nancy’s house today.

I noticed a lot of religiosity in the video, I hope this doesn't sound too cynical but could they think someone from the church might be involved? mOO
I have had the same thought. It's a known fact that Nancy and Savannah are both deeply religious. Was Nancy offering some ongoing spiritual guidance to someone at her church that developed a weird, unhealthy fixation on her?

Unless it's just a cover story.
I buy opportunist over a cover. Ransom demand as a cover just gives more possible connection (evidence) between the perp and victim.

There's no need to guess and speculate about Nest camera storage. The info is all here. Bottom line, it depends on whether they had a subscription plan or not, and if they did, which one they had. In some cases there may be as little as 6 hours of history, only with motion events (not continuous recording). On the highest plan, you can get up to 10 days of continuous video recording and 60 days of recorded events. If they only had the 6 hours of history active, I suspect that it will be difficult or impossible to recover anything beyond that, but I hope I am wrong.

There has never been a Nest camera that only stored locally to a server or memory card. This would only be relevant if the information about it being a Nest camera is false, and it was some other brand.

With you on the first part, but I do not believe this was some sort of hit.

You do that, you don’t take the body, because you’ve got the distance between offender and victim already.

If you have a grudge, you take it out on the person directly (Savannah or something).

I’m still leaning random/possibly sexually motivated.

The random thing does muddy the waters though.

You know, for some reason, in my mother country, news about elderly people are more abundant.

I’d say, first among the types of crimes angainst them are either scams or different types of robbery or something otherwise money-related. The idea is that no one checks on an old person.

And then, these drunk trashy scums who would hurt “just because”.

You think of the third group, it seems.

I think it still may be more money-related.

Also, while I am positive that Nancy was sharp and did not boast being related to a celebrity, more people could have known of the connection than we think.

,,,
My dad's pacemaker has to be charged, and he has often failed to charge it and we never got a notification or call.
Also in theory since a pacemaker continues after death it could also mean her body whether alive or not was not able to sync with her phone at that time. So if she passed away before 2am that would mean her body alive or not was moved away from the syncing device between 10pm and 2am is that right?

Has the reward offered risen from $2500.00? Disbelief over that one.
Again, this reward is offered through 88 Crime stoppers. It's a local tip line, and the largest reward they offer is $2500. It has nothing to do with the family or law enforcement.

RING CAMERA SYSTEM — MAY BE HELPFUL

1. VIDEO FOOTAGE (PRIMARY EVIDENCE)

If recording was enabled, a Ring system may capture:
• Motion-triggered video clips
• Continuous sequences within clip limits
• People, vehicles, animals, and movement
• Direction of travel (approach / departure)
• Entry and exit timing
• Clothing, objects, carried items
• Vehicle color, movement, and light patterns
• Audio if enabled

Investigative value:
Helps establish who, what, when, direction, and sequence of events.

--------------------------------------------------

2. MOTION DETECTION EVENT LOGS

Ring systems generate timestamped motion events that may show:
• Exact time motion was detected
• Frequency of movement
• Order of activity
• When activity began and ended
• Breaks in activity
• Changes from normal patterns

Investigative value:
Helps reconstruct timeline and sequence even if video is limited.

--------------------------------------------------

3. EXACT TIMESTAMPS

Events may include precise time data:
• Motion detection time
• Video recording start and end
• Doorbell press time
• Live view activation time

Investigative value:
Establishes accurate chronology of events.

--------------------------------------------------

4. AUDIO RECORDINGS (IF ENABLED)

Some devices may capture:
• Voices or speech
• Footsteps
• Vehicle sounds
• Door or object movement
• Impact or environmental sounds

Investigative value:
May help identify voices, direction, number of persons, or activity type.

--------------------------------------------------

5. DEVICE STATUS AND CONNECTIVITY LOGS

System logs may show:
• When the device was online
• When the device went offline
• Power loss and restoration
• Wi-Fi disconnects
• Signal strength changes
• Last system communication

Investigative value:
Can indicate when recording stopped, interruption timing, or unusual device behavior.

--------------------------------------------------

6. LIVE VIEW ACCESS HISTORY

Ring accounts may log:
• When live view was opened
• Duration of viewing
• Remote access timing

Investigative value:
May show real-time monitoring or account activity.

--------------------------------------------------

7. DOORBELL PRESS EVENTS

Doorbell cameras may log:
• Exact time button was pressed
• Video and audio recorded during press
• Motion before and after press

Investigative value:
Establishes presence and interaction timing.

--------------------------------------------------

8. AMAZON SIDEWALK (LIMITED CONNECTIVITY DATA)

If enabled, Sidewalk may allow minimal connectivity without normal Wi-Fi and may sometimes show:
• Basic device communication timing
• Whether the device remained active
• Approximate last communication window

Important:
Sidewalk does not provide GPS or precise location tracking.

Investigative value:
May help confirm device activity status during connectivity loss.

--------------------------------------------------

9. NEIGHBORING CAMERAS AND MULTI-ANGLE VIDEO

Other nearby cameras may capture:
• Same event from different angles
• Earlier or later movement
• Vehicle path across the area
• Entry and exit routes
• Extended timeline

Investigative value:
Helps build a broader movement map and extended sequence.

--------------------------------------------------

10. COMMUNITY SHARING

Voluntary sharing may provide:
• Additional video clips
• Observations from nearby residents
• Reports of unusual activity

Investigative value:
Adds corroboration and broader situational awareness.

--------------------------------------------------

11. MOTION ZONE DATA

Some systems indicate:
• Where motion occurred within the frame
• Direction of movement
• Pattern of activity

Investigative value:
Helps clarify entry and exit path and behavior pattern.

--------------------------------------------------

12. DEVICE SETTINGS AND HISTORY

Depending on available data, systems may show:
• Recording enabled or disabled timing
• Motion sensitivity changes
• Notification history

Investigative value:
May reveal changes in device operation or setup timing.

--------------------------------------------------

13. MULTI-DEVICE TIMING COMPARISON

If multiple devices were present:
• Doorbell and exterior camera timing
• Front and rear movement
• Motion progression across property

Investigative value:
Helps reconstruct complete sequence of movement.

The demand for Bitcoin in Guthrie’s kidnapping comes amid an uptick of violent incidents in which criminals have targeted crypto owners, including notable cases occurring recently in Paris and New York. These attacks, known as “wrench attacks”, typically target people who have publicly revealed they own a sizable stash of crypto. There is no evidence Nancy Guthrie is a crypto owner and, if the random note is genuine, the kidnappers appear to be relying on the partial anonymity offered by Bitcoin.
Perhaps Savannah has alot of crypto. She would be who they expect to profit from.

yeah and even more so in this case where old age is a factor, needed medicine etc to survive. If there was any intention to keep the victim alive i believe they would have taken necessary medications with them etc. I don’t think medicine was taken from the scene bc the perp knew it wasn’t needed. mooŵ
If you want some money, and decide that kidnapping someone and holding them to ransom is the way to go, why would you take an old frail person with health problems? Don't you care if they drop dead on you? (Sorry!)

Ok, I just had a random thought. The pacemaker stopped communicating with the watch because it was out of range. Could you hypothetically ride around with her watch and basically try to find the pacemaker? Like a metal detector of sorts. I wonder how close you would have to get. I know it still sends a signal, even after death.
It's actually possible - but you'd have to get within about 30 - 50 feet of her (and if she were indoors, then the range would drop).

McCabe making the same point I made earlier, that it’s hard to imagine a kidnapper delaying a ransom demand like this (based on the victim’s condition.”

Also talks about why the family would be encouraged to do this, and why police would be back at Nancy’s house today.

Yes I believe LE has strong suspicions that it’s a hoax but unfortunately they don’t have much else at this time imo. Their hands are tied

I hope the seeming "dead ends" LE seems to be at is a ruse, like when people thought Moscow PD didn't have a clue.

Delaying a ransom demand? we don't even know for sure when the first ransom letter was sent/received.

Publicly we know Monday, but that doesn't mean that it was Monday.

I think the family did this tonight to open the lines of communication, and if nothing else, it is giving the illusion that they are willing to play. Every bit of communication opens up another avenue to investigate, whether it's real or not.

LE has had at least since Monday to investigate who sent the ransom note. Guessing they don't konw yet. This doesn't even seem that amateurish to me considering this case has now been given full federal resources as well and the family still had to make that video tonight?

I have had the same thought. It's a known fact that Nancy and Savannah are both deeply religious. Was Nancy offering some ongoing spiritual guidance to someone at her church that developed a weird, unhealthy fixation on her?
Many churches have a ministry where they bring alcoholics, drug addicts, criminals into the church to try to help them get a fresh start on life. If it was church related, this would be who I would suspect. The kind lady she was, I could see her taking someone like this under her wing.

They actually didn't have a clue in Moscow for a long time. It was almost 5 weeks later that they finally had a name to work with.

I am perplexed this one has taken this long though, as you'd think they'd have a break by now (surveillance footage, geofence, DNA if the offender is in the system).

But the developments today tell me that they aren't close right now. That could of course change at any moment though.

I think the FBI / LE asked the siblings to do the video because the FBI / LE have not yet been able to determine whether the ransom note(s) are legit (actually from the kidnapper(s)) or not. They have no other choice. Tomorrow is Thursday

I think SG's choice of words in the video message also supports this conclusion.

I have felt all along that whoever kidnapped NG would keep her alive in case proof of life was requested.
