AZ Nancy Guthrie, 84, (mother of TODAY Show host Savannah Guthrie) missing - last seen in the Catalina foothills area on Jan 31, 2026

Could a reporter ask the FBI if any polygraphs have been administered, please.

Also could someone ask what prompted someone from her church to contact a family member, i.e., did family ask someone to check to see if she was in attendance.
Inadmissible in court and too easy to maniplate.

5:32pm- Nancy goes to dinner (takes an Uber, driver has been identified and interviewed)
9:48pm- Garage door opens indicating drop off
9:50pm- Garage door closes
1:47AM- Doorbell cam goes offline
2:12AM Person Detected, no video because no subscription
2:28AM Pacemaker disconnects
11:56AM Family checks on her
12:03PM 911 Call

Perp was there at least 50 minutes...

Family called 911 almost right away after arriving
1:47 to 2:28 is 31 minutes

editing: 41 min... bad math!

That makes sense, especially if her garage door faces the street like the front door does. It might be easier to navigate while using her cane (or walker if she uses one). Again, I've missed a lot because this thread has gotten huge quickly.
Just struck me as strange that she entered through her garage, but the abductor(s) brought her out the front door (as evidenced by the blood found). Her home isn't exactly close to neighbors where they would hear the garage door go up/down, is it?
I'm probably overthinking it.
IMO.
are you though? you may not be. And yes I miss the days of breaking up threads into 50 posts or 80 or whatever because it is too hard to find information anymore

"any action taken regarding a ransom is ultimately up to the family"

This is vague. Could mean "if the family sends payment, that is up to them" or "the video released last night was a production by the family and their handlers".

JMO.

I am confused by the timeline. The doorbell camera went offline at 1:47, yet a person was detected at 2:12? This is either an error or refers to two different cameras.

Won't discuss how the person got into the house.
And I agree I do not think they should. That is something only That is something only the kidnappers would know and could be used in negotiations for proof who they are.

The family is cooperating

have you eliminated the son in law? we are actively looking into everyone. it would be irresponsible not to. everyone is still a suspect. uber driver, gardener, etc.

bizarre, because you should not say "person" if you don't know. You should say "movement."
True. Our cameras pick up animals, even a rat was picked up once by our Ring doorbell.

JMO.

The only DNA evidence they have got back was on the porch.

"We're actively looking at everyone we come across in this case." ~ Sheriff after reporter asked about SIL and whether he'd been cleared

SIL...we are actively looking into EVERYBODY...everybody is a suspect Re: SIL

Encouraging reporters to be careful on labeling people suspects

That telegraphed loud and clear.

"Naming someone can harm the investigation... or the individual."

I'm not sure why the path an abductor took has to be the same one NG would normally take. She's not going to say "I prefer to go in and out through the garage". I think it's as simple as... She entered that way when she was alone that evening, and he ushered her out through the front door. Plus, he can easily close a front door behind him. Closing a garage door usually takes a remote.

One way was easier for her, the other way was easier for the abductor. JMO on all that. :)

More from the FBI agent, less from the sheriff please

This is what the sheriff said about that (I was typing while he was talking)
"2:12am software detects person on camera but no video available. no subscription"
i heard a reporter ask if it could've been an animal and he said it could've been

moo

The fact that he keeps saying DNA evidence in the house and not blood makes me feel ick.

  • #4,317
Only blood dna we got back was on the porch. Items are still being processed.

They have each said "no primary suspect, at this time"

She may not drive at night and knew she was coming home after dark. My mom doesn't like to drive at night either at the stage of her life.
Heck, I'm 40 and I HATE driving at night. I am still capable, but if I was going to have a drink and it's late and cloudy, I would prefer an Uber or a ride.

Just my opinion but it sounds to me per the FBI spokesman, I get the feeling that the family wanted to make that ransom plea video. FBI helped them do that. I don't believe that they feel like this is a ransom case. All just my general feeling watching and listening to them talk.
