Guessing two different cameras, disconnected separately.

JMO
Or one that was never disconnected from a farther out point of view, like a trail cam on the property.

Now Sheriff stating "family member" took Nancy home. Wouldn't name specific name(s).

2 minutes is a long time to have a garage door open before closing if you are walking in.

Let's assume this is a rounding error and it is closer to 1 minute 31 seconds to round it up.

Regardless, you raise it and walk to the control near the interior door and that is only like 20 to 30 seconds.

Did the family stay for that minute until she closed the door? Or did they drop her off in the driveway then go on about their business. I doubt that.

All of this is wondering if the perpetrator gained access to the house thru the open garage or if access was much later in the early morning when the other activities happened?
Didn't someone say she had a dog? Maybe she let it out to pee real quick then went inside and closed the door.

I think to have taken the body gives a feeling of power to the evil doer who did this. Still feels like someone in the family is connected to something/someone bad. Would love to be a fly on the wall behind the scenes. Jmo
Emphasis mine.
Agreed.
Still can't shake the notion it was someone known to the family or a connection.
Not random.
Imo.

I promise I am not a conspiracy theorist, but really the only way I can see this being an actual ransom, with how successful they’ve been so far to avoid identification if so, is if a foreign government was involved. Obviously, if a foreign government was involved, Nancy as a target would be because of Savannah’s fame (I can’t see a foreign government expending resources on a victim that would not get much national press). I know, that’s absolutely insane and trust me, I feel silly for typing it, but stranger things has happened I guess?

For me personally, while this case is extremely unusual and I don’t feel like I even have any detail that I’m sure of, I still primarily think the person responsible was someone peripherally known to Nancy and the motive was SA, and then she was taken. Whether taken alive or dead, I don’t have an opinion on, though I do not believe she is alive now. I hope I’m completely wrong about everything I just typed.

Emailed ransom note? Interesting! Probably a second arrest coming soon. MOO
Surely they took measures to conceal their IP address...surely.

Multiple cameras at the home.

MOO FBI seems to confirm that NG 's apple watch is the thing that the ransomer knew was left behind. Broken floodlight, anyone could see. But her watch? That was inside. That alone IMO gives great weight to the ransom letter's credibility.

JMO
I’m pretty sure we knew the watch was left behind earlier on, as it was the original piece of technology that was stated that the pacemaker disconnected from, not the phone. Not sure which one of those is accurate, but the watch has been in the discussion from pretty early on as something left behind if I remember correctly.

They don't know which camera alerted to movement, there were multiple cameras.

  • #4,410
How do they not know which camera detected movement versus the Ring bell?????

  • #4,411
He just said the camera detected a person. Multiple cameras at the home.

I disagree. If you google Nancy Guthrie from today show you can see she wore an apple watch. It is a fairly good assumption to guess she wouldn't sleep with it because it's charging. And the police announced she was taken overnight very early on. Now if they said: "she left behind an apple watch on the bathroom counter". Yes i'd agree it's a legitimate note.

I thought we knew the Apple watch info before the first ransom note?

My FIL is 85 and super tech savvy and with it. He would NEVER let us drive him around and he Ubers all the time. He’s very proud and a bit feisty. I don’t think you can judge any child’s relationship with their elderly relatives - NG isn’t AG’s child.

This is a psychological trait.

Older people who are with it need to feel "in control". But it is still hard to get some newer concepts so they take longer to learn, but once they do, they feel very "proud" to use them. (Apps, etc).

At the same time: going to banks or such they'd usually take relatives (to give the message that they are not alone?)

They are conservative with people: if they use Uber, they'd prefer the same driver or a pool of the drivers they know (how many Uber around).

The Uber driver's route has to be checked through and through IMO.

ETA: I didn't realize that she was dropped off by the family

Does the neighborhood go back out to busier streets with businesses, or is there a back way that is just rural to the mountains?

But still, if camera is off line at 1:47, what detected movement at 2:12??
Sheriff just said "software detected" and they are not aware of which camera it came from, multiple cameras are involved.

(BBM) I agree, as much as I hate to say it

When a reported asked, to confirm, uber to family house and a family member gave her a ride home? He kind of looked away, ducked a spec and said, 'we're gonna go by that'. SO. NOT confirming who at the very least. This is a telling statement. Makes me think they ARE looking at who drove her home, their involvement later. IMO

I don't think it's strange for anyone to enter their home through their garage when they drive and park in the garage etc. But it does seem a bit odd to me for the garage to be opened and then closed 2 mins later if she's only being dropped off. Could be nothing but seems a bit odd to me. IMO
I can open and close my garage with my phone. If I get dropped off, I open it as we pull into the driveway and shut it immediately after I enter. Barely a minute passes most times.
