The wording of "doorbell camera disconnects" is interesting - to me it sounds like someone accessing an app and "removing" a camera.

Nah. The doorbell camera was removed from the wall and either it lost power when the wires (if present) were pulled out, or the battery was removed if it was on battery. They've said nothing that suggests anything as convoluted as going into the app and removing the camera. "Disconnects" is the normal way of saying a camera is no longer connected to the internet.

How do we know they are her blood droplets
"Blood found on her front porch has tested positive as hers, he said, and law enforcement is awaiting further lab results and analyses of evidence taken from the scene of the crime. "

Still 40 pages behind, but I’d bet she had more than one camera. And that the second camera likely did pick up a person as the sheriff initially stated, not an animal.

With a 5pm deadline, if they were taking the ransom note seriously, I’d think they’d postpone the press conference until after the deadline to devote all resources to getting NG back.

I think if you are going to creep up to a house and start bashing/stealing ring cameras, that suggests a familiarity with the house and knowledge of where all cameras are. Many houses have floodlight cameras, etc., that could see someone from above, but whoever did this must have known where these doorbell cameras were and that bashing them and coming at them from a certain angle would mean they aren't caught on video. All of that suggests someone very familiar to the house.

Remaining open to all plausible scenarios, even the least likely/most far-fetched, what are all the potential motives behind NG's disappearance?

Brainstorming:
  • SA
  • Financial
  • Kidnapping for Ransom
  • Legal Jeopardy/Fear of Discovery
  • Political
  • Personal Grudge
  • Robbery
What's missing from this list?
What if anything on this list can be ruled out at this point?

*ETA: I think robbery can be ruled out, because if you're going to commit a robbery, why steal the person and leave all the possessions behind, but what do others think? Take it off, yea or nay?
Add "just because we want to see if we can pull it off"

Could this have been done by persons that could be associates of friends of her grandchildren? Some disturbed group in the third or fourth circle from the core family circle? This whole thing seems like such a crazy idea; so planned yet impulsive at the same time. my own opinion only.

Can I ask? Why is the focus on A’s husband? Is this solely down to AB or is it something else?
Because Sheriff Nanos has stated earlier in the week that the son-in-law was the last person known to have seen Nancy Guthrie before she disappeared. Sheriff stated earlier that he drove Nancy back to her house.

He has since walked back those comments today and now says "family" drove her home.

I've heard a theory about the blood near the door, that when she was being dragged or taken out of the house, she fell in that spot, and if we look closely, the blood is not just blood but also blood with prints.

Has the sheriff officially reported if it was true someone reported that NG wasn’t at church and who it was?
Something interesting to think about could the perpetrator actually be the one that supposedly reported that NG hadn’t shown up to church, not realizing that she hadn’t been going in person lately. Depending on how close the perp actually was with NG? I know LE would have learned this very early on, but maybe just gave them suspicioun and maybe the perp has already given some type of explanation that LE may or may not believe. moo

At that hour, i don't see her coming to the door, or even hearing the door knock or bell

Does her dog bark?

Leaning still towards someone had access and that makes me sad
SHE DOESN'T OWN THE DOG.

Here are the puzzling things to me:

1) Why the circling helicopter with agents looking out the sides? Looking for a place someone was buried or something discarded by the perpetrator? That landscape would be very easy to spot disturbed soil on foot or in the air. Just to make it look like the sheriff's dept is doing something?

2) How could a broken camera detect someone after it was disabled? Could it be instead a motion sensor inside the house like we used to have?

My gut feeling is that LE has video of the vehicle involved from multiple neighbor's door cameras and that they are trying to trace the vehicle to where it wasn't seen anymore passing by and therefore get to the point of knowing about where the driver either parked or left onto highways. IMO, video cameras are the most important forensic tool to help guide LE for facts. I believe that takes a lot of time to canvass the area but that ultimately, LE will know the kind of vehicle (make and model) but probably not a license plate.
The cameras store video in the cloud. What is weird to me is the sheriff said the video was overridden and that Nancy or the family didn't have a subscription. A subscription is relatively cheap. I don't know if the cameras were programmed to stop recording after a particular time or what? Good question about a motion sensor, but there clearly was a place for a doorbell camera on the front door.
I don't think we got much info from today's presser. Just that one of ransom notes was completely bogus and someone arrested. At least one other ransom note is being taken seriously as legitimate. And there is a $50k reward. Also, they gave a timeline

Yes,curious with her meds, maybe they planned on getting her the meds she needed?or already had them?missing 2 days then a ransom and needs to be paid by 5pm tonight, so I believe she's still alive, praying
I want to believe that too, but I don’t think so anymore.

The perp has to be really, really dumb to think he could get away with such an abduction and demands. Every police, sheriff, FBI, state is looking for her, and, assuming the perp is identified (per ransom), there's just no way.

If it ultimately turns out to be a kidnap/ransom kind of thing, so far the perp seems to have done a decent job evading LE and hiding the victim despite the onslaught of media and LE resources. If a payment in bitcoin or some other virtual currency were to occur, and it is essentially untraceable (people in France have been victim to this kind of thing with no arrests made), then I suppose a perp could just drop her off somewhere randomly and be on his/her merry way.

JMO.

I think it's a combination of AB, his looks and interests (and behaviour?) and the fact he supposedly was the last one seeing NG(?) Maybe i'm completely off tho, idk. Just MO

My

grandmother is over 10 years older than NG, and is extremely independent and lives alone, catching taxis, going shopping and out to social events regularly-with mobility issues similar to Nancy.
She would be horrified to hear you and others don’t think her capable of doing these things or that her family are neglecting her by allowing her to live how she wants.
Older people are not babies, they are quite often perfectly capable of making their own decisions.
Your grandmother sounds awesome! I don't think anyone is implying that NG is incapable of taking an Uber, but I can't think of many 84 year olds, especially women, who are comfortable doing that. Having said that, I can't see how her decision to do that has much to do with the case, other than looking at the Uber driver, which they've apparently done.

I’m in the same camp as you.
I think that they already sent proof of life, but that's being left out of these briefings

It would be a serious stretch that Coello had some acquaintance with AG & SIL which is why he had their number...right? Is it possible they coerced on the crime and that is why he was texting them for payment? I'm reaching here.

Totally possible. What was the other motion notification from, then, though? Especially if that camera was totally offline 20ish minutes after it was removed.

People often have inside cameras for elderly that live alone just to check on them and make sure they are ok. I know people who had a sudden stroke living at home alone and were lying on the floor. Minutes are critical for help at that point. My friend's father ended up passing away from that stroke. Another friend's mother had a major stroke at home but luckily her husband was also at home at the time and saved her life.
So sorry for all the health issues.I can see that in an apartment, but if somebody breaks in a window in a house, either you fight themselves off yourself, or run.At least with an alarm system , the police will be sent out to investigate.😊
