Just adding to this my own point, I looked back at my (rough) transcript and the FBI guy twice quite clearly refuses to be drawn on whether or not there was a time in the ransom note. Then later, while responding to a different question, he blurts out that the deadline is 5pm today. That was my impression as I watched it. I wonder if that was 'accidentally on purpose'. Then when he's asked to clarify that it was 5pm, someone brings out a piece of paper and he walks away from the podium and checks it and then replies also giving the information he has twice refused to give before: the second deadline is Monday. JMO. Or JMI (just my impression!)

Part of me feels like a lot of this press conference was them cunningly sending messages to the abductor, or trying to mess with them in some way.
I noticed that, too, about blurting out the ransom deadline

Did anyone see the CNN video of an agent carrying with two arms in front of her what looked like a very large brown, maybe paper evidence bag out after their return search of the home yesterday?? Also, did anyone ask about evidence or items seized from the SIL home yesterday?

Oh man. Cursory search shows an LA musician with a band name "Secret Mutilator" and appears to be into hardcore kink and other fetishes. Perhaps even recently arrested for embezzlement/fraud at work. Neither may be the guy in question, but dang.

JMO.

Or maybe the FBI agent who looked young would describe her as grandma because his grandma was around her age. Gives it a personalization.
What a cute doggy! 😍

I felt like the "ransomware" comment was a slip, he corrected himself pretty quickly. I can't really think of how it would apply in this scenario.

But now I'm trying to remember where/when I saw the comment about the watch being on the charger... I know I saw that somewhere.

IMO
I noticed that too then thought maybe it's a program or a virus he's familiar with being techi.

Update: 1:20 PM – The man who is charged with transmitting a ransom demand related to Nancy Guthrie has been identified as Derrick Callella.

The 42-year-old from Hawthorne, California, is facing criminal charges after he admitted to investigators that he sent texts and made phone calls to the family after they released a video stating they are willing to negotiate in exchange for their mother.

Authorities traced back the text messages, which were sent to Guthrie’s daughter and son-in-law, to an email address belonging to Callella. IP address records show the communications originated from his California home.

According to court documents, the ransom notes sent to news outlets have not been directly linked to the text messages.

I think this may be my first post. Its been a while.
I have a couple questions.

Why is a SIL being mentioned?(assuming, sister-in-law) I must've missed that information.

Also, is that a detached apartment / pool house on her property? If so, has it been mentioned? Did she rent it? Has someone lived there before?
I apologize if these have already been asked and answered.

TIA
I think with SIL...they mean Son-In-Law...

Son in Law. A YT journalist, forgot the name, said she had a source claiming he was a person of interest/suspect.
There are nice shots of the house, there is a part detached from the main building as far as I remember, and there is a small pool in the back. No word of renting it out.

SIL and BIL are being used interchangeably to refer to the same person - the son-in-law of Nancy is the brother-in-law of Savannah. I think everyone is used to seeing SIL as sister-in-law, especially when BIL is also being thrown around.

I can't believe they are taking one question per reporter. That seems generous but more power to them.
They said 'per outlet' ----so that is less than per reporter. CBS might send 2 or 3 reporters, for example...

Where would a potential 'family member' keep her if abducted?

  • #4,952
Yeah, that's so weird. And that's a whole lot of trouble to go through for a ransom. Wouldn't most criminals just make a Grandma call her kids and be like "yes, someone is here. You need to deposit x amount of dollars into this crypto account so they will release me." As in..... before the actual FBI is involved in advising negotiations. Nothing about this situation makes sense.

i feel like, not really if you really don't want to get caught and really want to live on the ransom money.

Oh of course. Thank you! I do worry about him and AG. Sadly. I hope I'm wrong!

Yeah. These days he probably spends a lot more time on ransomware cases than actual ransom cases. Just an honest mistake, I bet.

I think that they already sent proof of life, but that's being left out of these briefings
Just a photo it seems which family notes can be AI. Unfortunately.

More son-in-law than anything. Ashleigh Banfield said that a source close to the investigation told her that he was a prime suspect, and his car had been seized.

Here's the problem though, that's exactly what you'd expect. He and Savannah's sister were the last people confirmed to have seen Nancy, and they'd absolutely be looked at first.

You'd expect interviews, phone downloads, perhaps requests for DNA, etc. You'd also expect them to be asked to allow their car to be inspected, and a search warrant to be obtained if they declined (might get one anyway).

So I see this as pretty reckless reporting, as there's a good chance this is being overblown.

Would I be shocked if he was ultimately found to be involved? No. But the longer this goes on, the less likely that possibility seems.

Not sure what that structure is, but we've heard of no-one living on that property other than her.

Isn’t Zoom like a call on Teams? Where you can see the names of whoever is attending and send messages back and forth? This is getting more bizarre.
At my church the hybrid service is on YouTube and Facebook live. Zoom is only used when regular service is canceled.

YouTube you can comment with other online viewers. So maybe she did that to interact with the service?

Does anyone know what kind of church? I ask because Anglicans tend to avoid missing communion.

ThoseI believe are SG kids ages...i was wondering about SIL's kids
In the Guthrie family photo from Christmas 2025 it shows 3 kids. Two younger ones who I believe to be SG’s two kids and then another older boy who looks to be approx 12 years old.

Just throwing stuff out there-could the camera have been removed, and then the perpetrator started banging on the door, stirring Nancy out of her bed? Would she have opened the door to someone she knew and trusted, and then some sort of confrontation took place on the porch? Could the porch have been an entry point rather than exit, movement around the house at 2:12, and Nancy removed from the house at 2:28? I assume she was not dead at 2:28, as the Apple Watch would have shown it on the app, right? What other cardiac info does a pacemaker show?
