I was trained as a scientist and (mental health) clinician. I remember one professor constantly telling us to always stick to the data. "Stay close to your data and you will not go wrong."

Even PhD scientists can have a pet theory and discard/ignore data that refutes it. Then they end up having to discard parts of their theory or tossing the whole thing out. Wasting a lot of time and resources in the process.

Yes lay people have a hard time wrapping their heads around criminal psychopathy. Lay people of course think like normal people who follow the law. People who have worked in mental health, LE, courts are not surprised at deviant behavior, they work with it every day.
Very well said and you're absolutely correct on all accounts

First we couldn’t believe it took them so long to call 911 which didn’t end up being true. And now there is an hour between the parishioner call to the family and then heading over there 😩
Let's say you get a call out of the blue on a Sunday morning. It would take more than a second to get to mom's house. You'd likely call your mom yourself, call siblings, call the housekeeper. That takes a few minutes. You might not be dressed so you have to do that. Your child might need caring for, so you need to arrange that. Were you on your way to soccer practice or lunch with friends - that needs to be re-arranged.

Now that I think about, we don't know where the family was when they got the 11am call, I don't think. Maybe they were not home?

Then you need to drive to the house.

That all takes some time that can be accounted for without it being nefarious.

We don't know enough.

People are giving too much attention to the fact he drove his MIL home after dinner and not the fact that the Italian guy was the designated driver for an evening dinner with wine. If something here is out of the ordinary it's this.

Also, If she ubered there why not uber home? Except for the dark and safety.

If the ransom-note writer is legit, why hasn't he contacted the family since the note?

jmopinion
I think because Nancy is not with him - either he killed her or he never had her in the first place (he's a scammer). He has the upper hand and can afford to just wait and see if the family gives the ransom. Making further contact gives LE more potential for finding his identity.

She must have been bossy and wanted to be independent, unfortunately...
I don’t think it is “bossy” to want to maintain your independence.

Because what is missing IMHO is that they tried to call her in between, and then they went over when they couldn't reach her.

Kidnapping is not the first thing your mind would jump to. They expected to see her there.

I really, really want to know more about this. We have heard that NG had not attended church in person since Covid. Was NG planning on making an exception to attend this particular Sunday? Did the perp think she would keep up her normal routine of watching the service remotely? Or did the perp know ahead of time that she had made special arrangements to attend in person this particular Sunday?

Yes I have hobbies too where I examine large amounts of data to answer questions and solve problems. Pattern analysis is part of the process, some people have a knack for it.

So are you of the opinion that if the victim was killed in the home, the perp would dispose of the body quickly? Yes this of course makes sense. Driving around with a dead body in your car is not a good idea.

And you are also saying that the desert is a likely disposal site? And it would be very difficult to find the body in such a vast stretch of land?

I think we have to face reality about this situation. Every hour that goes by decreases the likelihood of the vicim being found alive. She is elderly with health conditions. We don't know if she is being fed, or receiving adequate liquids to keep her hydrated. In addition she is under a great deal of stress and may have been injured when she was removed from the home.
Yes to all your questions.

The first place I’d look to for a Perp would be someone who provided a service at her home routinely. They knew the layout.

She was very adamant about it. Definitely didn’t seem confused or like she misinterpreted something. She claimed her source was very high up in law enforcement and she stated that over and over. & she’s not known to be “sensational” or irresponsible, so this is very odd for her.

yes I agree. She actually said something to the tune that she expected LE to push back on her claim like they always do.

She must have a huge amount of confidence in her source... if this person is directly involved in the case then I sort of tend to believe her. But again, she could have been told by her source that they were looking at the SIL first since he was last with Nancy and she interpreted that as the prime and only suspect at this time.

She seems very sharp to me and is an excellent communicator. I guess time will tell if it was true all along or not. If not, she has a lot of egg on her face.

Wow. If a family member was a musician in a band .....which had members with checkered, criminal pasts.

..and, then, s/he/they chose to continue that life, and commit this crime, it would be very disappointing, horrific and sad.

If this is true, then I'll bet LE will be impounding many more vehicles connected to these band members.

I doubt the family is directly involved or knew. I certainly hope not.

It will be so important to check the other ring cameras on the block that Nancy lived, and compare the cars/vans seen that night to vehicles owned by friends/colleagues/mates of the family members.

This is so sad. I am praying for her safe return.

Is there a reference to a musician?

My opinions only:

What are the chances that Nancy Guthrie is still alive? <20%

What are the chances the one responsible was a healthcare person, gardener, maid, electrician, etc? 40%

What are the chances the one responsible was a family member? 60%

What are the chances the police and FBI will eventually solve this case? 80%

When do I think a person(s) will be arrested? Within the next 10 days.
For your first two questions I would say 2% and 95%.

Amateur opinion and speculation only

PACEMAKER From the little I know about them they are linked to usually a phone and that is the case here. Also there are numbers that they connect to when something is not right. I have to assume that primary contact would be Annie. So it follows that at 2:28am she would have received a message or call when it went off line. I assume LE are looking at this but I would like to know more about this. Does this make sense to anyone?
I posted earlier about this - not sure how far back since this thread moves so fast :) but no - it would not have sent an alert to family or medical team if it went offline - at least not for quite some time - as there are too many reasons for it to do so - walking too far away from the phone/watch - being on an airplane or elsewhere that requires phones to be shut off etc. Eventually - if offline for days it would send alert to medical team not family and medical team would reach out to patient to get them reconnected - if unable to reach patient then they would likely reach out to family. But the connection between a pacemaker and a phone/watch is not designed to notify family of a problem but to allow patient to use the app to check the battery life and other info and to transmit the reports from the pacemaker to the medical team periodically. The watch itself can be used to send an alert to family in the event of a fall but it has nothing to do with the pacemaker app.

I just watched Savannah’s Tucson Hometown segment from a few months ago. It’s very sweet and fun, but as others said I could see a predator watching it and realizing Savannah has a vulnerable mother living alone in Tucson. You see that segment, it wouldn’t take long for you to look up Savannah’s mom and find her address and presume that she was living alone. ☹️ And I’m assuming millions of people potentially watched that at the time it aired.

Nancy was lovely in the video, but it was also obvious she wasn’t in the best health.

I think it's really important to notice that the call from the church friend appears nowhere on the official timeline. That doesn't mean it didn't happen, but I don't think that we can just interleave events from the official timeline and from other sources and assume we have an accurate picture.
I am sticking with the LE official timeline. And it contains no time for church member call to family. So IMO we don't know if there was a long delay between the call the family received and their arrival at the property. JMO

AC was born in Italy but been here I think since 2006.
Who is AC? The son-in-law, you mean? Yeah, I know how long he's been here. My husband is Italian and we've lived in the States since 1998, with many trips back to Italy over the years. Italians don't change culturally or their core values and beliefs just because they live in another country. Same goes for Americans living abroad. My best friend's neighbor is a 76 year old Dutch man and she desribes him as "very much still Dutch" regarding his demeanor, etc. and he's lived in the States for years, as well. This is my point.

thank you I missed that discussion...so fast moving here.

Question: Other than Banfield, has anyone said anything corroborating a vehicle was impounded?

I bet the caller has been adamant that their name not be released. Their life will turn into a living nightmare when the press gets a hold of that name.

Could the blood on the front porch be from another time and not Sunday? As far as getting it tested as evidence, would they be able to tell how long it was there?
I used to get nose bleeds as a child. Looked EXACTLY like nose bleed droplets. One big drop would hit the ground and splatter to make a bunch of tiny little pinhead sized droplets. I remember the tiny spray ones because they would sometimes splattering on my folded white socks.
