AZ Nancy Guthrie, 84, (mother of TODAY Show host Savannah Guthrie) missing - last seen in the Catalina foothills area on Jan 31, 2026

I am on my phone and behind so I apologize if someone has already mentioned this. IF family is behind this, then I think the timeline must be wrong. Why take her home and then go back and do something to her? Or, for that matter, why have dinner and play games with someone you intend to murder? That makes even less sense to me than a ransom kidnapping.

And if someone broke in and killed her accidentally i would expect more than a few drops of blood. If she hit her head or was shot, for instance, it would be a godawful mess in there. Removing her from the house would be risky and spread DNA and evidence all over the place.

This has me thoroughly confused at this point.

Correct. Warrants are very specific, and they amend them when they have new information. Its important because the defense can challenge down the road, and get evidence excluded it the warrant didn’t apply.
Do they also need a warrant if the family approved of the search?

Just removed this and replaced it... Is it a camera?

What a lovely property.... she should be there, living her life privately....

Sigh.

Definitely reading into it too much. Those are the only two local news stations in Tucson.

Thinking outside the box. Which isn't a bad thing. 😁

This is so true. It’s exactly why I keep feeling like she’ll be found somewhere near her house.
There was a local case a few years ago where a teen went missing for nearly a month. Turned out he'd crawled down the chimney of a house just across the street and got stuck. Search dogs had been in the area and property a few times and never alerted. It just happens so many times.

I just watched them on the roof. Looked like a pretty half arse search IMO. If that’s what their searches consist of I’m pretty surprised but I’m not LE so I’m sure they know what they are doing
You have no clue what they are searching for. Perhaps it’s not something small or hidden.

This link was posted here earlier today, but there was no discussion on the thread, IIRC. But Megan Kelly discusses it in her video at the link.

Many thanks!

Someone posted upthread today that they've already seen the billboards, IIRC near Phoenix.
Seriously don’t get the logic behind it, not like she going to be seen. Plus there’s so much news coverage. I could see it a few months out but…..

Yes that’s true. I just expected if you go to the length of going onto the roof you would do a thorough search while you’re up there. My comment probably sounded judgy. I didn’t mean it that way was just more surprised at the level of searching they did.

Are they getting the items to search for directly from the ransomer/s?

This is intense.

Yes, but I'd think they'd want their ransom before saying where the body is.
JMO: I think the ransom is an unrelated, red herring.
