AZ Nancy Guthrie, 84, (mother of TODAY Show host Savannah Guthrie) missing - last seen in the Catalina foothills area on Jan 31, 2026

I'm still going with the theory that this is somehow related to the 2 teens arrested. I would be checking every hotel/motel and AirBNB/VRBO within a 100 mile radius to see who checked in. IMHO, I believe Nancy is alive and she is being held by 2 other teens recruited. I believe these perps recruited multiple teens to do their dirty work while directing these teens on the next steps. Since the 2 arrested used signal app is there any way to trace signal app calls, texts in the area?

I know Pete Hegseth was criticized for using the app because it could be intercepted--what's the chance the FBI could intercept calls texts using that app?

It would seem to me that the family willing to pay the ransom would indicate the FBI believes that ransom to be legit. They would have to have something other than a mere guess to believe that.

Think of this--FBI traces call/text on signal app. They put individuals under surveillance--they come up empty handed. WHY? Because the person sending text is NOT the one holding NG, the teens are.

I believe this is more sophisticated that it looks on the surface.

What we do know is they were looking for a "man" on the Circle K video.

Just my 2 cents.
I hadn't seen information on two teens being arrested in this case - can you share the information?

And jmo, but is that credible that teenagers could pull off a crime that appears to have stumped investigators and there being no real information a week later?

Supposition is that mahjong needs 4 players, so 4th must've been the boy. JMO
2-3 can play Maj Jong if need be.

It can be seen here, it looks like a folded table to me, and yes it was taken into the house and then brought back out at the end.

Some of these reports today are just looking for clicks IMO

I can't figure out why they would carry a folding table into the house rather than a forensic evidence collection kit as pointed out by RainyDazeKS yesterday.

Putting speculation aside, this really doesn’t make sense operationally. Introducing a high-profile third party into an active ransom situation would almost certainly worsen things, not resolve them.

If a perpetrator believed a billionaire / president had become involved, demands would likely escalate, timelines would change, and negotiations could become performative rather than controlled. That is precisely what professional negotiators try to avoid.

It would also expose the Guthrie family to long-term risk; once it’s known that an outside benefactor will step in, you incentivise repeat extortion, hoaxes, and future blackmail. It is one of the main reasons why third-party intervention is discouraged.
I sooooo agree.
Actually, I feel DJT should never have put himself in this at all.
A statement TO the family maybe.... but not all this.

Soon, every TD and Harry are going to ask for govt help with cases....
And the Guthries will have to relive their situation over and over and over again.

I keep thinking about the church person calling about ng being absent. Tbh that confuses me all ag tc would have to say was we made plans to go shopping or something today ,I'm not sure if that parts a lie ,I really feel bad for the family I hope they get to the truth soon.

Yep I posted this up-thread but just to add, the kidnappers are allegedly threatening to kill her if the 5pm Monday deadline is not met. That explicit escalation was there this time.
things are closing in on the perps and I think they are not with NG anymore having left her body and will be happy with some ransom in exchange for location to find her.

Could be connected as they are the ransom demanders OR the ransom demander is just a horrible person that tailgated onto the 'abduction'.. LE has reason for sure to be there. IMO
The ransom demander/demanders sure have been lucky that no other leads have been found in the last 7 days. No arrests, no body, no sign of Nancy.

2-3 can play Maj Jong if need be.
ha! good to know.
That one had me stymied...... but the thread was moving so fast, I am sure no one needed me to ask "how do you play Maj jong" ???

Does anyone have any details on how the "fake ransom letter guy" was captured? Or how they figured out so quickly he was not involved?

So Annie and her husband had NG come to the restaurant in an UBER, which gave them the opportunity to take her home, they probably went in her house to discuss money and an argument broke out, Annie got injured and they knew they would be suspects so they put her in her own car and buried her in the desert MOO.
Picking her up to come to the restaurant with them would also have given them an opportunity to take her home. Taking an Uber there means nothing when it comes to that.

One of the biggest misconceptions in cases like this is the belief that Bitcoin equals invisibility. It does not. Bitcoin was never designed to be anonymous. It is pseudonymous, and every single transaction is permanently recorded on a public ledger that anyone in the world can analyze.

Law enforcement does not need to “break” Bitcoin. They follow the money. Every transfer creates a traceable chain of movement, and once investigators identify even one real world connection to a wallet, the entire transaction history becomes visible.

Even when people attempt to hide funds using mixers, tumblers, or layered transfers, those methods do not guarantee anonymity. Blockchain activity creates patterns, and patterns can be analyzed over time. In many past cases, funds believed to be hidden were eventually traced once a single mistake, exposure point, or real-world interaction revealed a link.

Another critical factor is that digital currency eventually has to intersect with the real world. When funds touch an exchange, a service, a device, or a person, investigators often gain a foothold. Most cases are not solved because encryption fails, but because human behavior, timing, or one small connection ties digital activity to a real identity.

It is also worth noting that while more privacy focused cryptocurrencies exist, using any digital currency in a truly untraceable way is far more difficult than people assume. Long term anonymity is rarely sustained. In real investigations, what usually happens is simple: the trail stays cold until one verifiable link appears, and once it does, the rest of the chain often falls into place.

So the real question is not whether Bitcoin can be tracked — it can — but whether investigators have already identified the one connection that will expose whoever is behind this.

Just something to think about.
Would be interesting if SIL was both- ransomer and kidnapper/murderer and used the ransom only to divert attention away from himself and knew of the traceability, therefore used a wallet not belonging to him in demands.

Like a New Orleans jazz funeral where they march down the street playing jazz music? Also like an Irish Wake where most everyone gets smashed, tells jokes, and laughs? No disrespect meant.
A celebration of life to me is sometimes the same as a funeral, and other times without an actual deceased person more appropriately called a memorial service.
Yes, agreed, my Christian relatives call a funeral, a celebration of life. Very common term.

Do you really think she wouldn't cave though? After the gravity of the situation became apparent and the scrutiny?
Well, we don't know that she hasn't at this point in time.

  • #11,915
I had that thought too. That they now know she is dead and they want to simply bring her home. But the "celebrate with her" seemed to suggest she is still alive. So I concluded the family have received a threat to NG's life and are now resigned to paying whatever amount is being demanded. But then the "this is very valuable to us" is a very odd thing to say about a live person being returned :(
I thought the "this is very valuable to us" was in response to the abductors stating in the message that if they didn't pay, their mothers life must not be of any value to them. I don't know what that 2nd message said so it's just a guess on my part why the valuable phrase was used.

HUH? Of course it is a kidnaping. The lady is gone. Whereabouts unknown.
Kidnapping means alive- murder and body disposal with ransom as a ruse totally different.

There are dozen plus clips of NG visiting SG on Today show and I have seen none of AG or CG visiting Today Show set. Yes, a few public photos of AG with SG and NG but that's it. SG and NG super close relationship. I wonder who was NG's primary caregiver in Tucson as that person will hold lots of info.
Nancy surely has the flexibility to travel far more than the other two, and America loves Moms a whole lot more than siblings and in-laws.

Meaningless to try to make something of that.

It's possible. Hard to pull off, but with help, it would certainly be possible, IMO.

Amazing. Nothing that we know of or can be told to the likes of 'us'. We will all know only if an arrest is made on either thing. IMO

This JLR YouTuber guy is such a disgusting leach! He has absolutely no scruples and is 100% into every story he "reports" on soley for clicks.
Sounds like he is a douchebag, but he was the only one I could find livestreaming last night and I was able to watch without having to rely on someone to report what they saw. Like today's reports... silver briefcase taken out of the house??? it sure looked like a table to me, and it was taken in and then taken out by the same deputy. I like to see things for myself lol hate that I had to click on his youtube to watch it though.
