No verification he had a flashlight. Nest doorbells have a built in light. My feeling is that the full moon and the light from the doorbell illuminated him AND the hanging flowers we see in the photo. JMO

you can clearly see he has a flashlight. he clicks it on to look down and check his path, then off again when he reaches the porch.

I don’t think this person has thin brows. The lighter coloured edging of the eye holes are partially covering the brows. The lighter coloured material mimics skin but I think it’s just the design of the eye holes making the brows look thin/feminine. A bit of an optical illusion
Agree. The inner part of the ski mask kind of looks like skin but it really isn't. It is deceiving.

Now, the eyebrows are thick. That is for sure. And darker colored. And I do think that is a real mustache as well.

If NG did not have a connected device right next to her, she may not have heard a camera doorbell. If sound asleep, she may have only realized when she woke up to him in her bedroom. Did her dog bark, I wonder?

no dog, the black dog is AG's

Some observations after initial look at pics & vid...

1) We do have some answers now...how the flower stems got on the porch and that NG's blood was not there prior to these pics.
2) Currently I think this was his initial approach to the house - might change that opinion later - but previously I thought entry might have been elsewhere and he stood inside the doorway to remove this camera - now I don't think he was in the back yard first.
3) My doorbell camera (Ring) sounds an alert when motion is detected. I am now wondering whether NG may have been asleep and heard that alert that someone was at her front door and instead of checking the phone she just went to the front door and was assaulted there. (If so, it is possible that was actually caught on the camera before it was removed and they just aren't releasing it or discussing it.)
4) I agree this guy had a mustache but that doesn't necessarily mean he still has one today.
5) I've never seen anyone wear a holster quite like that. I know the guy on NBC has said it is an appendix carry but typically that is a holster that is tucked inside the pants - clips on to the belt or pants from the other side. This appears to be a hip holster being worn as an appendix carry on the outside. Not sure how to properly explain that but what I'm trying to say is that on a hip holster usually the clip is on the side toward the body and an appendix carry it is usually on the side away from the body. I've never seen anyone wear an appendix holster on the outside of their clothing like that - nor dangling down in front of the pelvic area like that - typically worn inside the clothing and up higher so it won't interfere with walking or sitting. Hopefully someone will recognize this holster especially if this guy is known to have worn it oddly like this.
6) Someone somewhere saw him with that backpack or jacket or ski mask - maybe when purchased - maybe in a hotel lobby or campground or gas station. I really hope the release of these pics leads to some tips that lead to some answers soon.

There's more running thru my mind but that's it for me for at least a few hours - I really do have to get some work done. I know this thread will move quickly this afternoon and no way will I be able to catch up and read everything but I'll pop in and out and read some of your insights as time allows. It was hard to see this man at her door knowing that she has now been missing for 10 days but I am glad to finally know they have something to go on.
Maybe he knocked her out with that flower pot

I think it's two masks.
Very much could be true but imo if he had a fake face on- i think he wouldn't care about concealing himself on camera. He'd know the disguise wouldn't be quickly recognizable and would instantly just rip off or break the camera. He wouldn't go through the trouble of finding a plant to cover the camera.

Looks like a cell phone sticking out of right pocket .
Hoping it is and LE/FBI will be able to track from cell phone towers the phones that pinged in the area, unless it was a burner phone.

What!!!! I never heard about that.
Yeah, two teens committed a home invasion the day before at night, tied up the home owners and demanded 66 million in crypto. Someone else in the home called police and they got caught. It's alleged they were paid money by two anomymous people with weird aliases to buy supplies and gear to commit the crime. Could be totally unrelated. But this is two cases in a span of 24 hours(from the time they were committed) where the motive seems to be demanding crypto. It may very well be a coincidence, but if it it, it's a huge one.

I'm someone who usually scoffs at the idea of a crime being part of some grand scheme. Most crimes are focused on the individual victim which drives the motive. But that is so coincidental. I don't think I've ever heard of a case involving a home invasion demanding crypto or a ransom demanding crypto in the US and then you get two in the span of 24 hours in the same state.

Could just be a coincidence, I mean they do happen. I just hope law enforcement looks into it is all. I'm sure they have.

Did Nancy hear an alert from the camera? Was her phone in another room so she didn’t get it? What was his point of entry, and were things in the house disturbed? I do think both he and Nancy went out through the front door.

It’s been said already but this does make me lean towards someone that became aware of Nancy through the Tucson Home segment, or someone related to an employee of hers. I just think it’s too outlandish for SIL to have concocted a plot for someone else to kidnap her. LE would know.

If the flashlight was in the mouth, it should have picked up DNA. That DNA could be transferred to the gloved hand when it was removed from the mouth.

If that was my dad/brother in the footage I’m almost certain I would be able to identify them from their body shape, eyes, gait etc.

Hopefully the Gutherie family will get some answers soon 🙏

to remove the device at door with his right hand I'm ambidextrous, too.
I wonder who originally installed the front door ring Nest camera. That person should have DNA checked by police. In fact probably DNA on the camera pieces that connected system to front door trim.

I have boys in the 20s and they move so much more smoothly. They don't bend over like that to pick something up. But the backpack perhaps is heavy?
WEll it looks that way for sure!

So the FBI sat on these photos which POTUS had alluded to in a previous statement instead of getting them out to the public ASAP. Instead, they decided a media spectacle with their director was more important.

I feel like it's a black mask under the other mask. What everyone else is seeing as eyebrows and a mustache, I see as another mask underneath it, thanks for the zoomed in mouth, it looks way off to me too.
But you can see skin above the eyebrows

I think I'm all caught up for this millisecond (phew!), so hopefully none of this is repetitive (though probably 10 posts will come while I am typing...). Apologies if it is. A few things I wanted to address, all JMO:
  1. It looks like these are infrared videos. You're not going to be able to discern any color of anything (skin, eyes, shoes, backpack, etc.) from these, and things may sometimes look much darker or lighter than they would in regular lighting. Be very cautious about conclusions based around color or shade based on these images.
  2. If you have a cloud-based camera like a Nest (in this case) or a Ring, even if you don't have a subscription, yes of course all of the video goes to the cloud. If it didn't, it would be impossible for you to view the video in the app and to get alerts. All of that stuff is cloud-based, even if you don't pay for storage. The subscription just controls whether they keep history or not.
  3. The existence of these clips is not proof that Google retains all Nest video history even if you're not paying for it. In fact, I am extremely confident that they do not. Even putting aside any privacy issues, the cost of doing this for people who are not paying would be astronomical and it has very little value. But that's not to say that it is not stored for a short time, and that pieces of it might not get retained longer for various reasons. These systems are complex, and the video data passes through many points as it is processed. It's likely that some systems store some portion of it in certain cases. My guess is that this is where the clips came from.
  4. Retrieving this video is much more complex than someone in Google just logging into a console and grabbing them. My hunch is that this required engineers to do a decent amount of spelunking in the backend to find, and then stitch back together, the images and video before they were usable. It's real work and it takes time. It also definitely would have required involvement from legal counsel before they moved forward with it. We can all wish that they moved faster, but it's not how these things work.
  5. There is absolutely zero chance that Google sent anything off to a third party to recover this data, if as stated it came from the backend. "The backend" is servers in Google's datacenters. Google is not sending their servers off for data recovery, and even if they did, there is no data recovery company who would be as well positioned to find what's needed than Google's internal teams would. It would take them exponentially longer to do it.
TLDR I think there is no malfeasance or suspicion in how long it took to get this. It's just complex. And it does not mean that Google is saving everything from every camera forever. They are not. And IR images are not good for determining anything like color or shade.

MOO

Apologies if this has already been said but should we assume Nancy had already been disabled inside the house when this video was taken?

Don't those ring cameras alert you to movement on the doorstep?

I thought that was the whole point of them :(
