When someone doesn't pay subscribe to these services, the videos are not saved locally aka on your phone/hardware.

However the manufacturer/company can likely go back and recover files after a WARRANT or REQUEST< which also takes time.

Ah, thank you... I was wondering if the pulling of the flowers and leaving them on the porch had a meaning.

The trailing lantana symbolizes endurance and tenacity. I don't think it means anything to the perpetrators in this context, but it certainly has proven meaningful to SG's family...they've definitely needed tons of both at this time.

Does it seem to anyone else like he's (I'm going to assume HIM) wearing two different gloves on each hand. The one gripping the gun seems to have pronounced fingers but the one closest to the camera almost looks like a boxing glove with no pronounced fingers.

This person I feel could be quite a young man, given his softer look, having maybe not fully grown into his face, the way he walks and holds himself and the lack of foresight. I think this person is about 19-23 years old. He just reminds me of that age group of boys I worked with.

IMO those are reflective strips on the backpack. The camera likely switched to infrared because it was dark. IMO

And infrared tends to flip tints. Dark colors can appear light and light can appear dark. You see that in cop cars when people are arrested and put in the back of a police car. Brunettes appear blonde and vice versa.

My cameras alert me to movement, but I also have my phone in Sleep mode at night. I don't want to get woken up every time the neighbor's cat walks through the back yard. I don't know what other people do, but I'd be surprised if most people have their phones set to wake them up for camera notifications. And (this might be unverified, so JMO) if NG wore hearing aids and didn't have them in at night, she might not have heard it even if there was an alert. I don't think it is at all a safe assumption that she must have already been disabled if she didn't get and act on a notification about motion at the door.

LE also said there were signs of forced entry, so perhaps NG didn't hear the knocking at the door because her hearing aids were out (and later found left behind). Maybe the intruder broke in through another door and then led NG out through this door since the blood splatters are on the path the intruder is standing on in the video.

This is like mine--depending on placement, it picks up a closeup of the storm door handle. Pretty sure that's the storm door handle.

I think it is the gate's handle. The angle is somewhat awkward, but it IS a doorbell camera so not many options for mounting those, I fear. At first I thought it was something on the doormat, but then I took off my glasses and recognized the weird angle of a door handle.

How can you tell? I keep staring at the pictures but I don’t see that. The eyes look feminine to me, which I know means nothing.

if you look above and below the lips, there appears to be very dark hair (or what looks like hair). wouldn't make sense to be a shadow and i don't think it would be skin since the skin around the eyes is lighter. could be a fake mustache/beard though.

I think it is the deadbolt and then the doorknob below the deadbolt that you are seeing from the odd camera angle.

Regardless, big Kudos to the technicians who were able to retrieve video from a missing camera that did not have a subscription to the web that actually saves it. How the ^%$# did they do that????

Their forensic abilities are mind blowing.

the physical location of any of these cams (Ring, Nest, etc.) is irrelevant as the footage is all cloud stored (which is why it was weird to actually take these cams in the first place) In this case the lack of a sub caused a delay but apparently the company dug it off their servers (so they save all the playback even if you don't pay for access on your end).

Back in the old days you'd hear of a criminal breaking in a home and taking the physical dvd recorder to a cctv system to destroy the footage. Even CCTV now all do cloud storage. So any burglar or even high school kid doing a prank would be recorded on the cloud even before they could disable the camera (though most porch pirates and vandals use hoodies or look down in approach - you see this on Ring community all the time). All the camera does is broadcast to the server/app.
