One theory is she opted in to video event feedback or something.Yes. The Sheriff Nanos stated this explicitly early on that they were working with the company cause she didn't have an active subscription (could have lapsed) adding difficulty getting the footage.
Nest dug this off their servers after days. If anything this proves that they store your footage on their server they have it regardless what they tell you when you don't have access to it with no subscription.
That allows nest to help troubleshoot issues and improve the product.
Regardless, the fact that it took them over a week to recover this stuff shows that it’s not easily accessible, even to Google.
