AZ Nancy Guthrie, 84, (mother of TODAY Show host Savannah Guthrie) missing - last seen in the Catalina foothills area on Jan 31, 2026

Coming from a nurse/EMT, if the life flight was a total of 4 hours it’s highly unlikely that they were rescuing someone from an acute situation. Usually those are extremely quick and life flights won’t even fly if the patient can get to the hospital faster by ambulance. It was likely a transfer between hospitals for a patient who came in needing a higher level of care and time was needed to stabilize them enough first for flying. I could be wrong though

Just think if NG was found alive, this would be splashed all over the news. SG would be headed to see her mother.

Looking at this again, it looks like the heli landed moreso in Nogales than Rio Rico. Could be wrong, I need to look at the original again. The flight path lines themselves are somewhat confusing. If anyone knows what the gray line connecting the bright green line means, I'd be interested!

EDIT: User Chainspell said "Flightradar puts in that line for an estimated flightpath when a flight loses signal (for whatever reason, such as being out of range)."

yeah, that's not what I got out of that at all.

Google or FBI or a combination of much smarter people then me ... put their heads together and fixed it and got the video and pics we saw today.

I honestly don't care how they got it, they did... and hopefully it leads to whoever took NG and leads to her coming home.

JMO
Plus, if this is a first, it CAN and most likely WILL be used in other circumstances.

I would think so too, but maybe they don't want media/randos flooding the hospital we all would suspect she's at? I also imagine she's not in great condition, if it is her, and could be a very delicate and personal situation for her and the family

MOO

Helicopter just touched down Banner Universaty medical center. Heli, went down to Rio Rico from Tucson , and back up to Tucson , Banner. Don't know if relevant,
Is it possible they dropped one patient (suspect?) at the hospital in Nogales and then picked up the other patient (Nancy) and brought her to Banner Hospital? Trying to make sense of the helicopter route.

Oh weird, you're right! Looks like the flight path got shifted down a little after it landed/the flight processed. Looks like it did indeed land at Holy Cross in Nogales as well!

I get why everyone wants to keep the thread on track and sourced, but I hope we can stop piling on people who stray a bit from the rules. Honestly, it actually doesn't support the community rule of being civil

Sounds accurate to me!

Probably not even related to this case.

Poor person who needed to be sent to a Level 1 trauma center or specialized surgical center from a community hospital being caught in the cross hairs of this case!

Occam’s Razor say this is all unrelated IMO. I think this is far fetched.

I wonder if police were tracking their detained person of interest's car for a while now, but stopped him today because he was headed toward border to flee to Mexico....

So if he was detained during a traffic stop, where are they conducting the search warrant? Which came first, the location of the search warrant, or the detainment in a vehicle? How long ago was the detainment?
My understanding is that SWAT deployed to execute a warrant. The traffic stop was news to me, so I assume they ran once they saw/heard SWAT coming. Reports seem to bounce between a stop and a "chase" - either way, SWAT took him. That was around 6:30pm east coast time (4:30p local).

My understanding is the search warrant was executed before SWAT returned. It would be reasonable to assume they will not announce the search until detectives have completed any evidence gathering to avoid media flocking to the location

Do you think it's too much to hope for at this point?
