.
It’s almost like the family is unwilling to believe TC was involved. They are pointing the finger anywhere else including now at innocent people. Still looks like the band member to me.
The irony.

Stayed up way too late with what I thought was a cringe interview with the MIL and woke up to this release story. I am concerned someone swatted the guy, tbh.

This was probably a tip from a "concerned citizen" that led them to this man. NG's family has no control over how LE is vetting their tips.

A person was detained for questioning in relation to the kidnapping of Nancy Guthrie. NBC News' Tom Winter reports on what this could mean for the case and if the detainment brings the investigation any closer to finding Guthrie.

For goodness sake, the poor fellow was released twelve hours ago.
I expected better from NBC of all outlets.

To be clear - this is Suzanna Guthrie's own network posting completely out of date news (posted to YouTube twenty minutes ago)

Perhaps it's just me, but it appears that the stems of the plant are too thin to be any use as a tool. I think he was trying to obscure.

video for reference
I think maybe someone was already inside asking him where he was and he went grabbed that plant and shook it and said see I’m here—now I’m going to take the efdinf camera off.

I see. Makes sense.

I'm looking at it differently - that there's no proof she didn't make it home. I just don't see a motivation for the family - surely not financial when it'd be much easier to just wait it out for their inheritance. And if it were an argument that escalated, I can't see they could have hid the evidence to where the FBI at full bore couldn't have sussed it out by now. Certainly can't see them trying to stage a kidnapping/ransom - how you going to explain your cash infusion.
Right and how do you explain the masked intruder at the door? Did one of them dress up to stage that scene? Too risky IMO.

It's all about getting their first these days for news media.

Hopefully it was more innocent and just like “hey, I know this person that may work in the area who had a white van and maybe similar features to the video”. I don’t see how this info alone would warrant what happened, though. I believe the individual declined to comment why he was detained; does anyone have links to any articles that state specifically what led to his detainment/LE’s suspicion? If there isn’t anything more than I worry you are right

The worrisome part is that some unscrupulous people will see this and get ideas. Innocent people could easily get killed.

In Brian's defense, many of us are suspicious that he doesn't in fact sleep. Certainly during this case he'd be lucky to grab the odd nap here and there.
He's usually very respectful and he's regarded as being among the most well regarded independent crime reporters in the US.
It looks a lot worse just because LE clearly had the wrong guy, but that's not quite Brian's fault.

i understand BE has been reliable in the past, and i'll repeat myself again, i don't think he's acting in bad faith or is a bad person or anything like that.

however, it serves no one to have a reporter on no sleep broadcasting live outside an active investigation. he should go home and get some rest, so he can perform to the best of his abilities. he doesn't need to live stream every second of this case, it makes it seem like he's more interested in being the first to break juicy new updates, rather than actually reporting accurate information.

JMO but it definitely changed the view i had of him from the beginning of the case, and i'll feel less confident about info from him going forward.

Tips need to be further investigated not jumped on, as this was obviously done. FBI agents are paid well for this?
… they ARE looking for a vulnerable victim who has without meds for over ten days ….

Well, had he just received a knock and talk I might agree. But they searched and, according to him, damage his home and detained several members of his family. Not to mention whatever damage they might have done to his vehicle.
But we have literally zero idea what caused the response. If they had credible information that she was in the house, for instance, you bet they’re going to do more than a knock and talk. There was absolutely more to this than a tip if they snatched this guy out of a vehicle in a coordinated high-risk stop and secured a search warrant for a residence.

That still doesn’t mean the guy is a suspect. They just have to follow up on whatever leads they have. They would be insane to not.

Hmm... So this guy they detained and released doesn't resemble the masked man IMO.
The FBI has since clarified they are looking for multiple "persons of interest," suggesting that while Palazuelos may have been cleared, the leads generated by his data or the public's response to his detention are still being funneled into the larger search.

Replaced that video with the correct link, more coffee required!

I’m not 100% if you’re the person I was interacting with last night, it was far too late for my brain to handle right now… my only qualm was with the allegation that they did not have a warrant. I think the media frenzy is far too crazy and the public sleuthing of these folks is going too far. Several people here were posting crap from addresses that weren’t even correct in the first place. This does no one any good.

Police have to follow up on promising leads. There isn’t really another way. At the same time, journalists also have an ethical responsibility and what was displayed last night by both mainstream and independent journalists is gross.

JMO
And the photos that were grabbed from google searches and posted on here and on social media. I think sometimes people want to be the first to find something, but its so damaging and can have lifelong consequences for those caught up in it. IMO everyone should just take a breath before posting and think is this really appropriate, am I CERTAIN what I'm posting is from a legitimate source, is confirmed, isn't altered and is directly related to the case?

If this investigation drags on, I hope it doesn't leave a trail of innocent people crushed in its wake

It turns out they don't know anything. Yesterday I thought they knew everything. And how did they find similar eyes interesting?

In the ABC15 video, at around 1:50, he says something like "they only had a phone on me", but that he might have been delivering something in the area. So possibly his phone placed him somewhere near NG's home at some point, but unclear when.

Edit: link to transcript of the interview here

Are the FBI/LE just throwing spaghetti at the wall now?

Trying to grasp understanding of what went down last night, my brain feels like a plate of spaghetti.....

Was it specifically, FBI who detained this guy.

Nancy's church had two services in person and viewable online. One at 9:00 a.m. and one at 10:45 a.m.

Has it been verified which service she would normally watch with her friend?
Nancy would go to a friends home where a group would meet to watch the streaming church service of SG's NY church IIRC.
