Please someone correct me if I’m wrong, but doesn’t it take a few days to get a warrant for cell phone records/triangulation?
NG's been missing since January 31, I suspect that was one of many items on the FBI's list when they arrived. It was one of the items that really aided them in the Utah 4.

So, this has been speculated about soooo much! It's as simple as it is light out when NG went to her family's house, and it was dark when she returned. As an older woman, I feel completely comfortable taking an Uber in daylight (and it was with a woman driver, which she could have requested). When it is dark, however, I try to avoid taking an Uber and arriving to my home where I live alone by myself. I would feel better having a friend or family member drive me to see that I get in safely. I think it is as simple as that.
Yes there is nothing strange about the uber or her going inside herself or her living independently at 84. Just because that is not lived experience or what they believe are customary actions in their own family does not mean it is odd, bizarre or uncaring behavior. As an example, none of these things would be strange in my family and it isn't because we are uncaring. I also accept that other families may have different customary practices and wouldn't automatically think these practices are strange, especially if multiple people explained in great detail why they aren't unusual. IOW the only thing I think is bizarre is that some people won't let these things go.

Are the FBI/LE just throwing spaghetti at the wall now?

Yeah, sounds like his phone number was scooped up in a tower dump or geofence warrant and he checked several boxes that made him a worthy line of inquiry.
Not exactly a line of inquiry when he was not afforded his rights for 2 hours after being detained.

No, especially in an urgent case such as this.

Ok I just saw on fox news per the person detained, A tipster called in and thought his eyes looked like the person on camera.

Well that clears that up, a big fat nothingburger
So now we go with eyes? Incredible. Some people would do anything for a $50,000 reward.

Specifically what rights was he not afforded?

The first person to report the story
Oh, sorry "They want to get THERE first" ok, got it. It changes so much, plus with time difference some of us are waking up to different news.

i understand BE has been reliable in the past, and i'll repeat myself again, i don't think he's acting in bad faith or is a bad person or anything like that.

however, it serves no one to have a reporter on no sleep broadcasting live outside an active investigation. he should go home and get some rest, so he can perform to the best of his abilities. he doesn't need to live stream every second of this case, it makes it seem like he's more interested in being the first to break juicy new updates, rather than actually reporting accurate information.

JMO but it definitely changed the view i had of him from the beginning of the case, and i'll feel less confident about info from him going forward.
Exactly. I say this as a true-crime and breaking-news aficionado....we don't need LIVE COVERAGE of police investigations. Media followed LE from house-to-house yesterday. It's too much.

We can get information from written articles and prepared video. Those are fast enough and provide a moment of breathing space for everyone.

An investigation can be transparent without being broadcast live.

That coupled with the fact that he has an unmarked white van and some association with his phone (per CP). It was a good lead that LE was right to follow up. The manner in which they did it was probably a bit of overkill, IMO.

They descended on him like that over a tip about similar EYES??

I want to have faith in the talented women and men of the FBI but lord it seems like Kash is bungling this.

That's really worrisome if true. He was basically swatted.

We might see an increase in people wearing sunglasses for the next few days

LE follow leads and not all are correct -that's part of the hard work they do. But the public doesn't to be there for every second of it.

I'm questioning my own habits of following cases, tbh. Yesterday was cringe, yet I watched. WHY?

Not comfortable today.

I’m sure there’s a bit more to it than that. Like investigators then discovered he delivered packages in tucson.

But according to the detainee yes that was the initial tip.

Maybe it was a bit of a reach but if they pinged his phone or car and saw his movement towards the southern border it might have triggered them to take action.

  • #21,238
Such a wild pendulum swing here from “the dude police say isn’t a suspect is totally the guy that did it!” to “They only went off of his eyes???”

We have no idea what police have or don’t have, and breathless speculation is not fact.

But that’s the purpose of releasing the video. If it looks like someone you know, call it in and LE vets the tip.

So, the "why" is still unanswered. If the object was to murder an 84 yr old, it would seem it would have happened in her home. Robbery? Nothing taken. Doubtful it has anything to do with SG or the Olympics.

Why take her? Ransom would be the foremost answer. Seems ransom is closer to being legit reason, but it's not been paid. Now what?
