Maybe they did via the ransom letter. Just a thought. They obviously wanted it out in the media i.e. TMZ.
If legitimate and not a scam. Has anything been made public about what these messages said? There is a new one today.

Does anyone know how far a pacemaker has to be from a phone before it disconnects?

One thing that trips me up is the 1:47 to 2:28 time frame. That's an awful long time for kidnappers to remain in the house. Especially if the place wasn't ransacked or showing signs of robbery. What were they doing that whole time? I can't imagine it would take long to subdue a frail, elderly woman and squirrel her out of there?
I am wondering the same, VegasGirl.
1. How far was NG from her phone before it disconnected?
2. I would think two men could get NG out of the house in fairly short order.
3. Perhaps there was only one man, an inexperienced one who was on a learning curve.
4. Or they spent some time staging so as to cover up the crime details or distract LE.
5. Could NG have put up more of a struggle than we think? If adrenaline started flowing she could have resisted more than the perps anticipated. Perhaps we are underestimating NG. Some older women are tough cookies especially if someone starts putting their hands on them.

Well, had he just received a knock and talk I might agree. But they searched and, according to him, damage his home and detained several members of his family. Not to mention whatever damage they might have done to his vehicle.
An 84 year old women's life potentially hangs in the balance. LE had a lead that he may have been somehow involved in her disappearance. They were looking for Nancy, time was of the essence.

Does it matter that the FBI statement states the recovery of Nancy Guthrie instead of rescue? Am I reading too much into the wording?

JMO
Where did you read recover ?

It's basically a task force, with the FBI doing much of the work.

Bringing in a private investigator is unlikely to be very helpful, because this person doesn't have access to things like (phone downloads, cell tower data, DNA, surveillance, etc).

It's certainly not a vote of confidence though.
Can't blame NG's family. We just know what's publically visible and it looks like a circus. No telling what missteps and craziness are happening behind the scenes.

Oh sure, I knew exactly what you meant. It’s just when you mentioned refrigerator, my mind went somewhere morbid, and I gave myself the creeps wondering if NG had a large chest type deep freezer. I don’t remember the documentary but a man that had killed his mother, hid her body at the bottom of the deep freezer at his home/hunting lodge.
If she had one, I sure hope it's been searched by now.

It reminds me of the ones they sale at Sam's club or Costco.
Fairly generic fleece. Have a few LL Bean ones that use the same type of elasticized tape at the wrist cuffs.

Too hazy to really tell from those shots. However, I'm pretty sure there's something larger/bulky sticking slightly out of his right jacket pocket. ~0:14-ish. Right hand puts things into right pocket, so... 🤷‍♂️

Whatever it is, it seems distinct from the bag strap and doesn't look like a zipper pull or something else attached to the jacket as it seems there is mass/form to it within the pocket when looking from other angles and it is heavy/bulky enough to hold the pocket open a bit.

Looks like a knurled or striated surface, a tool or something. I could be completely wrong and it's the zipper pull or something soft, but it looks dense and I didn't see one on the other pocket.
Could it be the lit up buttons of a walkie talkie?

I know this is kind of far fetched but could the perps be a terrorist cell?
I doubt it. The purpose of terrorist groups is to inflict maximum carnage, damage, and then make it known who was responsible to strike fear into the public, but also try to make a name for yourself to recruit other people to your cause. This has nothing of the sort. I don't believe terrorists are involved. Or cartels for that matter.

no worries not being argumentative in asking for one at all, but I was curious why I hadn't seen one of them before and was hoping to go to the source.

Additional recovered images from the same camera at Nancy Guthrie’s front door the morning of her disappearance, including two videos of the individual.Anyone with information, please contact 1-800-CALL-FBI or visit http://tips.fbi.gov

Based on reports from mid-2025, U.S. officials and terrorism experts raised concerns regarding potential Iranian sleeper cells within the United States, with specific attention on Arizona and other border states.
We've had decades of domestic terrorism risk from white nationalists and neo-nazis. If you want to examine the terrorism angle, you can add them to the list too.

I know experts are saying this person doesn’t seem professional or intelligent based on some of the things that were done (picking flowers, trying to hide from the camera, etc.). But if this person is truly that ‘stupid,’ then how have they managed to avoid being caught this long? IMO, they don’t seem as dumb as people are making them out to be, this could be far more organized and professional than assumed. Unless that’s exactly the point? …maybe they’re downplaying this person publicly to provoke a reaction or get them to make a mistake.
IMO this usually doesn't come down to a criminal mastermind but more about mistakes that are made..jmo

Could it be the lit up buttons of a walkie talkie?
Could be. Could also be a full peach pie, just pocket sized.

In all seriousness, it looks more like it's just reflecting back the IR camera light vs. an artificial source from within the pocket.

Or perhaps there’s incompetence on the part of law enforcement. The crime scene tape going up and coming down multiple times tipped a lot of us off early on.

Did the guy come prepared to rob, abduct, or murder? Did Nancy ever sleep elsewhere, like at her daughter’s? Could the masked man think he was breaking into an empty home? Did he really intend to remove Nancy, or did things go sideways? Could he possibly have done this solo?
Everything is possible, but here's what I am thinking. If it was intended to be a robbery, why was nothing taken? Your average burglar would have grabbed her purse and some jewelry at the very least, and maybe some larger items like a flat screen TV if he had a large vehicle and some time to work. He would have subdued the victim with ropes/tape/zip ties and something over her mouth to keep her quiet, and left her at the scene. But... did she know the masked intruder? That would be the only reason to remove her from her home if robbery was his motive. Robbers rob. They don't want to kidnap or murder, IMHO.

This feels more personal. Is someone holding a grudge against NG or one of her family members? Does the kidnapper have some twisted agenda?

Someone upthread mentioned the potential of a crazed stalker. I mention it because it's in the realm of possibility, but it's not my favorite theory at this point. Note that I have been wrong many times.

Stating the obvious here, but kidnappings are rare in the 21st century in the US. Why NG? I hope we will have answers soon. And my prayers are with her family.

All MOO
