is it verified these items were bought at the walmart? Or is it just that Walmart carries them? The DM article is paywalled.
The might not be new items at all or pulled out of the back of a closet or from the many hundred of thrift stores or garage sales

But WS users throw it up like it's facts and then others start commenting on it like there has been a break. It's like Toddler FBI. I hope everyone gets a cool snack and some nap time today. 🫶🏼
I dunno, I made time this morning for laundry, dishes, and a meal before checking the site and now I have no clue what's happening. Breaks are dangerous. ;)

Has anyone here compared the single photo of suspect without the backpack and holster to the videos and still of them wearing both? The shoes look a bit different. It almost seems like there’s a black strip on the shoes of the suspect without the backpack that I don’t seem to notice on the suspect that actually walks up to the door.
I keep thinking it may be 2 separate days.

If it is the backpack they are speculating it is, that brand is only sold by Walmart. That doesn't rule out that the perp bought it at a second hand store, was given the bag, or even stole or found it elsewhere.
Yes, can someone who can read the DM article please elaborate on the Walmart claim? Do we really know it is from a specific Walmart at a specific time, etc.?

If the porch perp went to Walmart to get his outfit and/or tools, he might as well just go lock himself in a cell right now.
I’ve seen enough episodes of “See No Evil” to know Walmart has security cameras everywhere. Probably 90% of the episodes are solved by Walmart video.
This would be a very good thing!

It is a paywall. But IMO Daily Mail has the goods lol. I searched the walmart site for a jacket that matches. Zilch

Right, could be. They do mention the other two items as well, so at the least they can check the video if there indeed is a date they were purchased.

Did he stop at a bar after dropping her off? I’ve heard speculation about it but never heard it verified. Or was this a different night? TIA
Someone here mentioned that going to a bar could be an alibi. Someone misread this and the bar keeps coming up. A rumor that keeps getting repeated. Imo

Does both of these pictures look like the same person to you all? Apparenlty, Meghan Kelly was saying this onelooks like the person is wearing a different jacket, and that it's camo. It's too blurry for me to be sure of that. What do you all think?

there’s been all this focus on SG’s fame and political interviews as being a possible motivator, but I just had a thought (I’m sure it’s not original): is it possible NG was kidnapped because of a beef or a debt owed by AG/TC? Sure, there are always wack jobs that are celebrity obsessed and it makes sense that the object of their ire may be SG, but what if it’s not?

AG and TC wouldn’t be able to pay that ransom (presumably) but SG could.
I thought the same.

Suspect's distinctive backpack, gloves and holster traced to Tucson Walmart

View attachment 644213

Are those supposed to be the actual products?
Those aren’t the right kind of gloves. Those look like the kind that are dipped so the back of the hand area is just knit, but the palm side is latex or something.

Thoughts & questions about the videos/stills of the guy at NG's door:
With/without the backpack -- possibilities:
  • Did he look into the entryway that night, see the nest doorbell, and then return with his head down and his pack full of burglary/kidnapping/murder tools, planning to disable it? (If so, he didn't think ahead about how he would do that & also shield his face, leading to the flowers.) Someone here also suggested he might be part of a cleanup crew.
  • Or did he stop by days in advance with the same goal, just on a longer timeline?
Why was he wearing hs backpack while disabling the camera? Possibilities:
  • Maybe he planned to immediately go around the side of the house and break in that way. (Though what about the cameras there?)
  • Maybe he thought an associate would open the door from the inside.
  • Maybe he planned to pick the lock once the camera was disabled. Maybe he had some sort of key.
  • Problems with expecting an "associate on the inside" to open the door-- he may have glanced at someone when getting the greenery. If so, would that person have had time to get in & then let him in? That said, once the camera was disabled, maybe he could wait there in leisure. Or was there one person to the side and one inside?
Question: In this video from the FBI, what's the guy doing with his left hand as he first reaches up with his right hand to block the camera?

The backpack
Thanks to those here who said it was an Ozark or similar. If so:
  • A cheap backpack. Not very good. No waist belt -- not good for heavy loads.
  • The Ozark has a sternum strap, which may be what we see hanging down. It looks kind of long for a sternum strap, but who knows. (The sternum strap can stabilize a pack & help some with weight.)
  • Assuming it was a sternum strap, he wasn't wearing it. Maybe after peering into the entryway, he went back and hastily threw on the pack. Maybe he never uses the sternum strap.
  • Even if it's 25 liters, not very big. Things that could make it look full -- a sweatshirt & light jacket OR A tarp. OR materials for a kidnapping or murder. OR burglary materials, including some large sacks for loot.
A law enforcement source close to the Guthrie investigation says they are familiar with the brand of backpack the suspect was wearing, possibly an Ozark Trail Hiker, and are looking into it and other brands.
