Also think they should look into restaurants NG, and maybe even her and AG together, went to in past 2 months. Where one or both of them had complained a lot. If they were together and it was AG who threw a fit, then maybe someone wanted to punish her.

In regards to cutting power to home. I noticed when moving to Az some 20 years ago all circuit breakers are on outside of home which I personally had never seen until moving here. I put a lock on my cover of circuit box because did not like the idea of someone being able to turn off my power that easily but almost are not locked. I recall a local news station talking about kids pulling pranks a few years back turning off peoples power in the evening while they were home. I bet Nancy's was on the outside too.
Outdoor electrical panels? That’s wild! And an easy way to get someone out of bed and outside. AC shutting off would wake me up.

'What we know

  • Investigators combed through the desert terrain near the home of Nancy Guthrie, the mother of "TODAY" co-anchor Savannah Guthrie, who disappeared from her home in Tucson, Ariz.
  • Guthrie, 84, was dropped off at her home the night of Jan. 31 after spending time with her family and was reported missing about noon Feb. 1 after she didn't show up to watch a virtual church service with a friend.
  • A man was detained for questioning in the investigation earlier this week and released without charges after speaking with investigators, authorities said.
  • The Pima County Sheriff's Department said it has fielded thousands of calls since the FBI released security photos and videos from the morning Guthrie disappeared. The images showed a potential subject wearing gloves, a mask and a backpack who appeared to tamper with the camera at Guthrie’s front door.
  • Savannah Guthrie posted a montage of home movie footage of her mom on Instagram Thursday. "Our lovely mom. We will never give up on her. Thank you for your prayers and hope," she wrote.'

Too many cooks in the kitchen. Whomever told him that is also pot stirring. They need get along to go along. Saying things like to a reporter certainly isn’t helpful to anyone out there working or to NG and her family. It’s very disrespectful and just escalates public distrust of the case. Immature reporting
BBM:
Agreed. It sounds like someone who's disgruntled/complaining about the fact that they don't have a larger role.

It will be someone from the Sheriff's Office who said that, not an FBI agent.

An FBI agent is a professional who knows and understands chain of command.

TMZ needs to go back to reporting on the Kardashians. They’re just trying to insert themselves into this case for clicks now.

Or, it could be orchestrated and in alignment with the investigation. The suspect clearly reached out to TMZ early on, so he probably uses it as a news source. That might come in handy to investigators in terms of forcing a mistake. "OMG WHO IS OFFERING ME UP?!", etc. Suspect paranoia has probably solved a lot of crimes.

So it’s probably up for something else
Good Lord. They are just now "looking for video from January 1 - February 2" ??? And just now "about" to send an alert through the neighborhood app?? Make sure it's from officials. Great. Luckily the neighborhood group has been more on the ball. Why didn't LE do this immediately. Even to say, PLEASE PRESERVE ANY FOOTAGE FROM JANUARY 1 - FEBRUARY 2" to at least ensure it didn't get overwritten. Honest to God, I have watched my local neighborhood lost pet Facebook groups act more proactive and organized than this investigation.

This reminds me of the police bungling (if these reports are true) of the Barry and Honey Sherman murders.

The problem here is that the nominal lead agency is and will remain PCSO.
That doesn't mean they're the ones actually running the show.
So, what you appear to have here is a nominal head (PCSO), and a different actual true lead (FBI).
There is such a thing as too many cooks in the kitchen sometimes.

PCSO made some horrific blunders right out of the gate.
It looks as if the SO has been regulated to providing security/traffic detail from the outside looking in.
It appears as if the FBI is doing the lion's share of the real investigative work.

The PCSO appears to be incapable of handling this type of investigation, yet it's their investigation.
The FBI can't wrest it from them.
Consequently, here we are.

I'm sure a lot of us have worked with and/or for a Nanos type at some point.
Let's all spare a thought for the FBI agents who are trying to work in concert with Sheriff Nanos whilst also trying to keep him from complicating their work with his open-mouth-insert-foot routine.

Exactly my thoughts, very well said! 👍🏻

Video of a man with similar backpack just before kidnapping. WoW
Was this person supposed to meet someone and give them this backpack, give them a ride? The person looks like they are either coughing, smoking a vape, or putting something in their mouth when they walk up and when they are walking away. I was trying to zoom in to see if they had earbuds in for their cell phone. Jmoo.

If they get a ransom note, I don't see why they can't talk about it. Thats my opinion though
For the letters that did not have any way to contact whoever sent them, I get why SG and her family made public pleas to ask for proof of life and to please get in touch with them.

Other than that, I think the media talking about them is creating major risk issues. Monitoring the account and reporting live if there is activity in it is a risk. Especially if it was first a smaller amount to test whether it worked or if LE can get anything from it. They bring every expert on to their news shows who cheerfully and loudly proclaim, "Oh yea, it definitely can be traceable." Sir. LE is trying to CATCH an active kidnapper with a still missing victim. If it is in fact traceable, maybe keep that to yourself and let the adductor try to move money so LE can... catch them.

If a kidnapper thinks their pay day isn't going to work out (and I have no idea how legit these letters even are), then you run the risk that they drop the plan, cause harm, and peace out over the border. This real time reporting is awful.

Also, there is no need to report on whether the family paid a ransom or not or if there is activity in the account. Pretty sure the abductor will see there is money and try to get a pay day. There is real risk involved in advertising how much a ransom was and if it was paid because it rewards horrific crime and may encourage other criminals that this is a good business. If the family opts to pay, great, I completely get it, but details do not need to be confirmed or advertised.

If Nancy is found and LATER someone wants to do a story and talk about what the ransom notes said or more details, okay, but I don't think any media people should be compromising an investigation. Also LE seems like such a mess with no clear line of who is in charge, I don't even trust the media people are being advised on how much they can actually say or not. Harvey wouldn't report the amount that the "activity" in the wallet showed, but yet a local news station did. There is absolutely no game plan.

I have an off the wall question.....if the pacemaker continues working after it stops syncing, could you clone the phone app onto several phones and locate the pacemaker? What would be the farthest distance between the pacemaker and the app to get a sync? If the distance is 30 feet or less, when searchers are walking fields, roadsides and other places, maybe having a clone app on their phone would help locate someone that couldn't hear searchers calling their name.

Actually, this is not too surprising given the relative smallness of the local sheriff's office versus the huge army of investigators who have moved in to help.

Typically, the local group is in charge... but I am guessing with the expertise of the FBI and since this is largely a very technical investigation, they are deciding and probably asking the officers to do most of the grunt work so "orders" are coming from the FBI thru the local sheriff's office.

This is the fog of battle on a very mysterious non-traditional big case.

We, as a group, are not without criticism. Many of us go on "hunches" and supposition from other posters... not the facts.

Glad we are not in charge!

This is where I would say - you report to your direct supervisor, Private 🙃 (imo)

Yes, good point and likely the case.

AC runs in AZ even in the winter?
I wouldn't wake up if heat/AC shut off until I got too cold or too hot.

Day twelve, with no description issued to the public of a suspect vehicle. It’s dark in NG’s area but does someone familiar with the area know if there are better lit roads nearby, with cameras? If so, how far away are they?
