IIRC, Richard Allen self reported the next day. Were Abby and Libby found when he called or still missing?

I can't recall if initially they were considered just missing or abducted and if there is a difference on how LE handles missing, abducted or kidnapping cases?
Richard Allen gave a report at a Park Ranger tent, outside of a grocery store, on day 3.

LE had put a Ranger there to collect names of people who were on the trails, and asked if they saw anything. RA said he was there that day, didn’t see anything.

Hand Written on legal pad, put into a “ lost” paper file for a 5 years. Finally discovered, when they got new eyes on case, they discovered he looked like “bridge guy”!

Incredible effort for 5 years, they had the guys name from the beginning. LE error.

I DONT SEE "PROOF OF LIFE" AS A PREREQUISITE FOR ANYTHING. IMO, PROOF you have NG in your possession is enough. Family or FBI relaying a question to the perp and getting the answer ( what was the name of her first pet for example?) Something obscure Answer is then communicated to the family. Feisty or not, NG is 84 and on blood thinners. That, imo, is the #1 reason she probably isnt alive. Either she suffered internal bleeding from being roughed up or the external bleeding evidenced on the walkway and probably seen in the home also, can be fatal. Add to that the lack of daily meds needed for heart rhythm or BP or the fact she is no longer getting her blood thinners and is now at risk for clotting, and you have a deadly mix of circumstances. MOO
That's absolutely your right to feel that way. I would like to say that no one would criticize you if you ever were in a similar position and decided to pay without proof of life, but no matter what anyone does these days, someone will surely criticize it. However, LE generally does not recommend paying a ransom without proof of life. They are the experts and have all the statistics, so I would probably follow their advice.

For those who may have missed the link posted for this! Brian Entin reporting on the Swat raid and an interview with the retired Tucson undersheriff.

Hopefully the DNA leads somewhere because all of these raids striking out tells me that LE still has very little to go on two weeks out from the kidnapping. It doesn't feel like there's any momentum.

Does Arizona have a silver alert system in place and was it used when they realized NG was missing?
I just thought about this. I'm not sure if the Amber Alert type alerts for missing seniors is nationwide or not. Jmho
I believe they have one though it is called Safe Alerts. I noticed it was used in a few other missing persons cases involving elderly individuals in Arizona.

Yes. We have an 84 year old woman who is missing, who may be dying, who may be deceased.
We have video of a trespasser who was at her front door removing a security camera on the night she went missing.
We have 14,000 tips that LE is trying to vet.
How many of the tips identify a potential suspect who ticks many of the boxes on information that LE has developed, some of which we and/or main stream media know nothing about?
How many are plausible?
How much probable cause has been included on an affidavit that was presented to a judge who is the deciding factor on whether or not a search warrant or an arrest want will be issued?
We know the person on the camera was armed. Is he working alone?
LE needs to be prepared for an armed resistance when they attempt to serve the warrant. The object is to complete the task without harming the suspect, the victim, and the general public.
The streets are blocked because media and rubberneckers come right on down to the scene while LE is trying to do their job. What happens to them if bullets start flying out of the residence or vehicle?

So far we have seen a couple of major operations involving swat teams and multiple LEOs. These two operations were based on probable cause that may not have panned out.

So it’s back to the other 13,998 tips to check out.

Give them a break.
They also have dna. They have a good idea of what the perp looks like. They have the FBI, who was not given the lead on the investigation. They have ransom notes that may or may not have been paid. From the very beginning, the local authorities put crime scene tape up and took it down repeatedly. They didn’t take interviewing those closest to Nancy seriously, imo, and they have spent lots of time at Annie’s home. They have had two swat teams out.
A lot of crimes don’t even have these resources. Their detectives are all there under two years. Newbies.
If reporters are in the way, let their PIO deal with them with news pressers. Keep the reporters busy.
The sheriff said every day there would be no news pressers and no interviews but then HE kept talking to local reporters. He picks and chooses his favorites.

Meanwhile, 84 year old Nancy was hurt in the abduction and needs help.
The last word from a local news station last might around midnight EST was that the FBI was approving a written statement. Really?

ALLOW THE FBI TO TAKE THE LEAD.

uh IF THERE WAS A DEAD BODY IN THE CAR, no one COULD SIT IN THERE FOR LONG. The odor would be horrendous. If you,ve never been exposed to decomposing remains, you can't even imagine the stench..
True, but no one knows for sure if she is dead or, if so, how long she has been dead. It's not like flipping a switch where as soon as someone dies, the smell appears.

I truly hate having to do this, but we’ve reached a point where it’s necessary.
There have been too many posts stating rumors as fact — such as Google searches about Nancy’s house from Somalia, speculation presented as evidence, and deep dives into the life of a man who has not been publicly named by law enforcement. His photo has been posted. His workplace has been discussed. As far as I know, the police have not identified him as a suspect.
That cannot continue.
THIS THREAD WILL BE TEMPORARILY CLOSED FOR CLEAN-UP.
We have tens of thousands of other cases that could truly use your energy and your skills right now.
CLICK HERE, and please consider visiting Missing but Not Forgotten. Choose an older case. Do a quick Google search on that case and post an update. Even something as simple as “I’m so sorry your loved one is missing” can mean more than you know to a family member who may be reading quietly in the background. Those small moments of kindness matter.
Check out our Give Us This Day Our Daily Thread. My attempt to get a general chit-chat type thread going.

Your words have power. They can harm, yes — but they can also comfort, support, and even heal. Let’s use them that way.
I’ll reopen this thread as soon as I can.

I have just waded through approximately 58 trillion off-topic posts.

Friendly reminder: we have a thread called “Give Us This Day Our Daily Thread.” That is my humble attempt to create a place where everyone can gather, say good morning, chat about life, compare coffee strength, discuss security cameras, and generally be human.

For example, someone asked about what kind of security camera to buy. Great question. Just not in this thread. That belongs on The Daily. That’s exactly what it’s for.

It’s a little slow right now, yes. So was Facebook once. So was sliced bread. Have faith.

Almost finished with thread cleanup. If I don’t return, send Taco Bell

That's it, im taking a 30 day break from the news and possibly even the entire Internet.
Normally, I would get angry at this post for being off-topic for about 0.7 seconds, then delete it and move on. However, this is a great post for our community thread called "Give Us This Day Our Daily Thread."
Five more pages to go, then the thread opens again.

DO NOT grab random people and start discussing them. Even if you’re using initials. Just don’t.
If someone resembles the suspect, call the tip line, BUT BE SURE. DO NOT flood it with theories about what law enforcement “should” investigate. Think first. Call if you truly have a legitimate tip.

FBI at 1-800-CALL-FBI (1-800-225-5324)
Or go to their website tips.fbi.gov

The sheriff has refused to clear the family. So here’s the hard question: do we protect people who HAVE NOT been cleared, or—because a life is on the line and time matters—do we allow limited discussion of family?
When it comes down to that choice, the life at stake wins.
Nancy.

INITIALS ONLY. Do not sleuth children.
If you reference a media video or article, POST A LINK TO THAT OUTLET
If you post something as fact (a fact that is not well known, again use your judgement) you MUST post a media link or law enforcement link to back up your claim.
If you forget to post a link to your statement of fact, you will be timed out
If you go big time off topic, you will be timed out
If you complain about moderation, you will be timed out. Although Direct Messages with lavish praise are always welcome. heh.
There is no perfect checklist for this. Use judgment. Be careful. And remember—your words have power.
Here is a current update from Fox

Thanks @tricia for all your hard work and reopening the thread, appreciate you! :)

For those interested, Brian Entin has a special report on the case tonight starting at 8:00pm EST.
Snipped from link:

“NewsNation Senior National Correspondent Brian Entin anchors special coverage from Arizona, where Nancy was reported missing on Feb. 1. NewsNation will bring you this special report live Saturday night at 8p/7C.”

If you have noticed, LE has not said "lock your doors. Dangerous criminal on the loose". That tells ME they view this as targeted and personal and not a risk to the general public. They are asking for video starting from January 1. My guess is that they are looking for someone scoping out the area. I stand by my delusional, lovesick over SG stalker, theory. MOO

So we have now gone from two nights of FBI raids to maybe we'll find Nancy in a few hours or maybe it will be several years.

“Maybe it’s an hour from now,” Nanos told The New York Times Friday. “Maybe it’s weeks or months or years from now. But we won’t quit. We’re going to find Nancy. We’re going to find this guy.”
