Yes I just made the same comment. Women as part of the kidnapping team could be the nurse, caregiver?

The presence of a female may be less threatening to a female captive?
If only. Perp(s) evil enough to bloody an elderly woman aren't going to be concerned about her care.

The best theory i have at this point is someone from the area who just "thinks" she's a "super rich" lady due to daughter's fame. I DON'T think it's a crazed fan. Just someone who has seen her around about town. Someone who is just looking for easy targets so the can get some quick easy cash and avoid the 9-5 grind.

Indeed, and if this is the motive then we can add no foresight or impulse control to the mix. Because I think I speak for all of us that we'd rather have a 9-5 grind than a 25-to-life grind. And hopefully part of that grind will be a literal and relentless one, courtesy of inmates who don't take too kindly to victimizing the most vulnerable.

IDK she is an elderly lady, I would think anybody involved in a fender bender, no matter how crazy they are would understand if the other party was an elderly person as elderly people have declining motor skills or eyesight and would let it go. Maybe I’m wrong.
Or they got in fender bender, they exchanged names, numbers, etc. NG said she'd pay and they were like let's go rob this lady who lives alone.

Then why haven't the captors produced a video with proof of life to help expedite the ransom payment? Sounds very unlikely, but I know many of us are still clinging to that tiniest possibility this could be true.

Amateur opinion and speculation
She might be so banged up. drugged by captor...any number of reasons. Background might be identifiable? Finally, they are in the driver's seat. They make the demands. They have what SG wants, her mom. Captor wants SG's attention. A sicko stalker who is enjoying watching SG twist in the wind. JMO

These independent denials from Pima County sheriff and the FBI confirm they are coordinating effectively on this investigation, IMO. They cast more doubt on the self-serving leaks alleging dysfunction and incompetence published by less-reliable outlets and attributed to insiders. The direct statement by the FBI and Pima County here contradict the supposed insider information.

Moreover, the sheriff's broad statement that the department does not engage in public speculation or leaks speaks to his 50-year career in law enforcement. I was not familiar with Sheriff Nanos beyond the disparaging comments from some outlets cited here.

These tweets prompted me to look into the sheriff's experience and career. The image I'd gotten from posts is that he is a bumbling, incompetent politician way over his head. I was surprised--and pleased--to learn Sheriff Nanos has had a 50-year career. He joined the Pima County Sheriff's Office in 1984, rising through the ranks from detective to chief of investigations to deputy chief, and then sheriff. He's been chief of the 1,500-member Pima County Sheriff's Office for 6 years. He holds a degree in public administration and criminal justice.

Nanos has extensive experience conducting and leading investigations into violent crimes. One example of a high-profile investigation he led is the assassination attempt on Rep. Gabby Giffords in Pima County in 2011. Giffords was shot in the head but survived. 6 constituents were killed in the rampage, 12 others were shot. For those who wonder why Savannah Guthrie contacted Mark Kelly on her way to the airport, the senator has firsthand experience with Nanos and the sheriff's office investigating violence against a family member.

Arizona Central's article on Nanos is balanced and objective. It goes through the allegations of corruption relied on here to paint him as a political hack. It links source documents you can read yourself. The articles and the documents I'm linking largely show allegations presented as proof of corruption or incompetence were determined to be unfounded by the Arizona Attorney General, judges, and investigations by the County Board of Supervisors.

I wondered if the allegations promoted by outlets that I consider less reliable may have some merit here. Reading reputable local reporting supported by official documents was eye-opening. My skepticism of self-serving, possibly politically motivated leaks was warranted. IMO.

Yes, my take is confirmation bias. That's why I am providing links to trusted local reporting and source documents. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion on this sheriff and his ability to lead this investigation. For anyone curious whether the characterizations carry weight, the links below may inform your opinion.

Very possible, but the proximity of this horrific act to the airing of the special on SG in her hometown leads me to believe that was a big factor. I'm sure she greatly regrets doing that now.

Yes that it what I thought was damage. Is it or does it just appear to be damage but is really a certain design on that certain make?
I think it looks like it could be damaged but I don't know that make of car very well.

Yes, the TMZ guy said himself that the FBI knows what he will be saying to the public and approves it. If they didn't, I don't think he would say anything.
In a prior video TMZ guy said they/he couldn't pay the ransom as it would be unethical. Now they are offering this. Whether they truly cared about ethics or maybe just legal risk, they thought one thing, said it, now are doing different. I honestly think they said it and LE was like "idk, why not try" and expressed such. Hence TMZ now offering money. (Just my own opinion watching the pattern there.)

I googled to see a 2025 car like hers. Just weird lines. I no longer think NG's car was damaged. jmo

This is kind of infuriating that the DNA hasn't been uploaded into CODIS yet. Why did the FBI release a statement yesterday morning saying this would be done within 24 hours? They must be trying to spook someone... but how do they know who if they haven't uploaded it into CODIS yet? Everything in this case is so weird.

Nancy Guthrie update, from an FBI official:“The DNA from the glove in Nancy Guthrie case is still undergoing quality control in the sheriff’s private lab in Florida after being sent from Tucson on 2/12. It is expected to be inputed into FBI CODIS in the near future.”

I think you still need source.
Way too lazy to look for all those videos. Will refrain from participating if requires that much effort.

For whatever reason, I hate videos, I hate watching videos, so here's a transcript:
"It is Monday morning, we have received a fourth letter from the same person who says that he knows where Nancy Guthrie is, and he wants money, uh, in return for the information. Essentially, he wants the reward. So, I have something to say to you, um, and I've already talked to the FBI about this, that, if you are not real, um, you're committing a crime, and you should know that, and this is a serious federal crime.

If you are real, this is the fourth letter you've sent--and I should tell everybody that in this letter it says, um, "I know what I saw five days ago south of the border and I was told to shut up, so I know who he is, and that was definitely Nancy with them." Uh this is the second time he has referred to more than one person involved in this. He said there is a main person and there are others, and he said it here. Um, he is saying that, um, Nancy was taken to Mexico. Now this is what he's saying.

I'm not going to vouch for him, but this is the fourth letter, we have sent them all on to the FBI. And, um, he also says one of the reasons he's worried about coming forward is he has a record, he has, uh, a burglary on his record from ten years ago, so.

I don't know if you're real or not, if you're watching this, but if you are, um, and I have told the FBI that we're going to do this, they know this, um, that, um, if you're worried about getting this money, um, and you really do have this information, send it to us--you're sending us these letters, send it to us, we will forward it to the FBI, and that way there is a record that we have that you supplied this information. If they find her and they find the kidnapper, then, at least there is evidence because we have it that you're the one who provided the information. So, this is a way for you to get that money, if this really is legitimate. Send us the information, we will pass it on to the FBI."

  • Line breaks are added by me after the fact for readability, and do not correspond with the way this was stated. It was pretty rambly
  • Whatever you may think of Harvey Levin/TMZ's ethics, HL is not a dumb person, and is a licensed attorney in California
What was he doing in Mexico 5 days ago? I suppose whomever told him to shut up knows now that he didn't shut up. He's toast either way..LE gets him for faking these letters and he gets no reward or he gets the reward and the main person and his minions get him for not keeping quiet.

I believe there is video at border crossings and if someone went there to purchase Nancy's meds and brought them back I think they have to declare them. I don't know if there are any places to cross without the eyes of the border patrol on you but I believe there must be.

All of these videos of people snooping around, while troubling in general that people snoop around that much, are not really that compelling to me in terms of their potential association with this crime. Show me videos of a man masked up like a 1980s professional wrestler and my opinion might change.
