Some things that are noticeable about the face of the suspect from a video still image:
- The distance between the eyes (intercanthal distance - ICD) appears slightly wider than normal. This distance between the inner 'corners' of the eye in an adult is normally 28-35mm. If wider, its called telecanthus or hypertelorism depending on the etiology. A well known example of this is Jackie Kennedy who had hypertelorism (photo attached).
- Their eyebrows don't end where we would expect them to, which is normally in line with the inner corner of the eyes (unless the eyebrow extends across to the other side, i.e. a unibrow). So either they have a unibrow or they are wearing another mask or beanie/swimming cap/skull cap under the outer balacava (looks like this one maybe from walmart A knitted mask 3 Hole Ski Mask Winter Warmer Full Face Balaclava Outdoor Sports Thermal Cap for Men Women - Walmart.com).
- They appear to have what is called a positive canthal tilt meaning that the outer corner of the eye is angled upward relative to the inner corner of the eye (which is hard to see for sure), but definitely above the center of the pupil. Reference image below.
- Lastly, they do not appear to have excess upper eyelid skin as we would see with an individual in the 40s, 50s, 60s, 70s, etc. This is evident by the lighter appearing crease that is visible above the lash line on the right side of the image (left side of the person's face). This indicates that they are likely younger (20s, 30's, maybe 40's). Men generally start to exhibit extra upper eyelid skin in their 40's and 50's that gets worse with age and will obscure the lash line. But here we can see the entire lash line all the way across the eyelid and some eyelid skin above it.

as per cnn, they’re doing just that. they used a term that’s basically “scraping the layers” to retrieve the data. imo they’re using specific language because google is inundated with lawsuits regarding customer privacy, so they don’t want to outright say that they have data that’s not kosher

but that’s speculation in my part (though partially emboldened by cnn’s current reporting with the google/nest rep)

I am a data forensic and recovery expert, and this is very common in my field. This is known as data scraping or data carving. There is specialized software which can look bit by bit (A BIT is a block of data on a hard drive or data storage) looking for "pieces" of data and putting it back together LOST or DELETED files from raw data. (An example of this is a product known as "TestDisk", and Law Enforcement/forensic analysts quite commonly use a software called "EnCase" or "Cellebrite". It is actually very rare to see data truly deleted unless someone really knows how to delete it. And even if you cannot reconstruct a file in it's entirety, you may be able to reconstruct a large viewable portion of it. Assuming there was EVER data on this device or "In the Cloud" (Which in itself is just a collection of storage drives and data storage), odds are they can recover something.

I'd hazard a guess that law enforcement by now have
some video footage from other video cams in the area,
say they've got video frames of specific vehicles moving
within the timeframe the kidnapper would have been driving
(assuming perp had a vehicle), so of the 40 or so names
they have (of veh owners?), they are trying to develop a reason
to get a warrant to search their residences/vehicles. If the
person(s) purchased a gun at a gun shop, law enforcement
would try to check if the weapon is of a size and theorised
type that the perp had, also if the person(s) had purchased
a weapon sometime in the past from a gun shop, the FBI
could try to get the ATF to do one of their 'checks' at the
person(s) residence (whilst the person was out but easily
monstered dependants might be home) in order to look for
anything that might allow law enforcement to further get a
warrant to do an extensive search of the premises.

If anyone remembers the guy interviewed at least twice, who some people in this thread found a tad suspicious, and who was calling himself a “neighbour” while trying to push the blame on TC, there appears to be someone in Tucson with the same first name as him and whose last name relates to Friday night’s SWAT events. Could be complete coincidence, of course, but if so, it’s an interesting one all the same.

I believe in the 2nd Amendment. But I also think that people buy guns in certain markets for specific reasons.

Private, unlicensed firearm sales—often called "private transfers"—without a background check are legal for long guns in 42 states and for handguns in 32 states. We have more states now than ever that operate under constitutional carry.

But you're probably not really conservative or 2A versed so I can understand that. Anyway I've gotten some great deals on some beautiful and rare guns on forum private sales and don't know the names of a single guy I bought from, usually in LGS parking lots. So yeah, in AZ someone criminally inclined has many options legal and otherwise that don't involve LGS, though I guess going to them with a suspect pool list is part of the needle-in-a-haystack approach.

But in a neighborhood of still relatively close houses (only 1 acre lots) I would imagine an accidental discharge would be heard and I hardly think any shots were "popped off" against an 84 year old medically compromised woman.

My guess is that when you have an elderly adult reported 'missing', as NG was, Social Services, in the form of APS, is called by LE to 'tag along', or follow LE. A 'welfare check' on an elder adult by LE may trigger them, as first responders, to put in a report. APS can also provide supportive services and resources to the family. I tend to not put much significance into the APS card having anything to do with her being missing, JMO.

I've considered this angle more times than I'd like to admit, and the main thing that turns me off of it is that neither SG or NG have no international ties that I could find that would seemingly create the basis for a foreign-plotted politically-motivated revenge killing. And even in the most ideologically-driven authoritarian-loving America-hating sections of Iran, I highly doubt anyone would raise their hand to be first in line to kidnap and kill a senior citizen in order to make a political statement. Likewise for other countries.

If it is a group of people, it is could be one of those tech-saavy online nihilist-anarchist groups that foster blackmail and bloodlust to achieve their ends, whatever those are.

I don't believe they intended to kill her. Like Nanos said there is still no proof as of right now that she is deceased. I was thinking more along the lines of targeted kidnapping for financial gain (4 and 6 million Bitcoin where they can easily change the currency) to use for wow against us and other countries they are fighting.

I think it's weird too. APS showing up at the request of LE or AG is one thing, but a neighbor calling feels like an overstep, especially considering police were already involved.
