I am critiquing not criticizing but once again I see LE going into NG house with no protective coverings to preserve what to me is a crime scene, no matter how many times LE says it isn't,

IMO they should go back to day 1 and do a complete forensic reexamination of her home and property, the crime scene is the only place at the moment where there is any possible evidence, and fresh eyes may see or find something new which could move the case forward

I am perplexed about the amount of information all police agencies are putting out to the public. Why tell everyone about the black gloves? Why tell everyone about the pacemaker tracker on the helicopter? Why not put tents all over the property when doing searches so media people can’t see what’s being done? I’m used to Canadian police who are so tight-lipped for a reason.

I don't think its futile, it has severely been contaminated, but there still maybe one small thing that was overlooked, or somebody may have a differing opinion on how the crime happened, it is all they have to go on

Not overly helpful other than confirmation the doorbell camera was indeed disconnected. But separate images of more than one suspect has never been referenced. However I do notice mention of “one of the home’s cameras”. It would make sense to me that LE has not released everything they have. JMO

Video footage recovered from Nancy Guthrie's security camera​

The FBI publicly shared several excerpts of footage from Guthrie's Nest camera on Feb. 10, saying that the previously inaccessible video from the morning of Guthrie's disappearance was recovered from "residual data located in backend systems."

The FBI described the suspect in the video as a male who is about 5 feet, 9 inches to 5 feet, 10 inches tall with an average build.

In one video clip, the suspect approaches the front door and raises a gloved hand to the camera outside the door before turning back. In a separate clip, the masked suspect faces the camera holding a flashlight in their mouth before covering the camera lens with some vegetation.

Nanos previously told reporters at a news conference that the doorbell camera at Guthrie's home was disconnected at approximately 1:47 a.m. on Feb. 1.

At around 2:12 a.m., one of the home's cameras detected what the system classified as a person, but Nanos said video footage wasn't available.

Google, which makes Nest cameras, previously told CBS News it was assisting with the investigation.

I believe the door nest camera was disconnected at 1:47 a.m. possibly after the power was disconnected or cut. Or another option is it was disconnected through Nancy's phone via the app.

I believe the man in the video on Nancy's porch was captured at 2:12 a.m. because Sheriff Nanos only mentioned a camera detecting movement at 2:12 a.m.
Harvey Levin also claims that he confirmed with LE that that video was captured at 2:12 a.m.

I believe the suspect thought the door nest cam would not be working when he casually walked up on to the porch. He looks like he is about to bang on the door and then realizes that the camera is still on. This is when he starts to block the camera with his hand and appears to try to attempt to remove it. Then he begins to look for something to help him remove it - the lantana.

He wasn't expecting that door cam to be on and I believe he was afraid that the camera captured him and that is why I believe he took it with him along with Nancy.

“I think this was an individual who had a target for whatever reason, and he has made it tough, but I've got some pretty tough investigators too,” Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos told NBC’s Liz Kreutz in a new interview which aired on the Today show on Wednesday, Feb. 18.

Nanos said he’s more focused on the DNA they recovered at Nancy’s house not matching any of her close acquaintances. While a glove found two miles from Nancy’s home was sent for DNA testing and came back with no matches in the national DNA database, Nanos noted his focus is centered on the DNA in Nancy’s home, saying, "We believe we may have some DNA there that may be our suspect, but we won't know that until that DNA is separated, sorted out. To me, that's more critical than any glove I found two miles away.”

He also mentioned recently that the dna taken from her home was a mixture of dna so they need to separate it out as part of the analysis. All of this must be very time consuming before they even get to looking at the genetic genealogy.

Nanos said he believes it was a kidnapping. On Fox . Dna found 2 miles away had no hit on codis. No codis hit on home dna either. It was NOT burglary gone wrong. Targeted kidnaping . He believes the person knew who they were going after. MY STALKER THEORY LIVES!

It was just on FOX. Snippet of interview with Nanos and that guy with the British accent. NO DNA has been found in Codis..House or glove from a mile away. My guess is there will be full interview later but i cant find this on Fox. Watch Fox..lol

Kinda wondering the same thing Steff13. I did not expect to hear that a neighbor called APS the day she was reported missing but I’d like to know why and what time. Surely it was before the family arrived shortly before noon. AZ APS does have 24/7 reporting available online but they said the neighbor “called” and on the weekends they don’t take calls until 10am so if the neighbor literally called then it would seem they called between 10am-11am. MOO But why? If they were part of the group who attended the virtual church service why call APS about her not showing up for one service? The call to the family certainly makes more sense for that. So I’m wondering whether it was a neighbor who knew NG always left her house at a certain time on Sun mornings and didn’t see her leave and went to the house to check on her and perhaps saw the blood drops at the front door and was concerned NG had hurt herself and they couldn’t get her to come to the door. But I would think a call to 911 for a welfare check would be more in order for that than a call to APS to report possible abuse. Honestly I think I have more questions about the APS card now than I did before we were told a neighbor called them.

Found that interesting too. APS is not who I'd call the 1st few hours either.. why that neighbor felt the need to call them when police was there so quickly on Sunday..

In some of the frames I initially saw, they looked almost like shoe coverings or surgical booties.

Anyone else feel like you wish there was a way to tell Nancy’s family how sorry you are that this has happened? Seeing their broken hearts, worried expressions, and determination not to give up…just breaks me inside. The things that have been said about why didn't Nancy have a paid subscription when daughter is wealthy...can you imagine the stab that was to SG heart? Her other sister and husband has been run through the ringer. I go to bed at night and wake up praying for them. I'm thinking unless you have experienced their degree of worry you can't imagine their pain. SG has lost so much weight, I am sure they are all suffering in their own ways and wish they could be home to do it. That being impossible at this time because of reporters, etc. If the family is reading this, it is a terrible thing that has happened. Your mother would want you to work your way through the pain. It is important to talk about all the wonderful experiences you had together. To pass the time everyone write down memories you have had from the earliest times you can remember. Share them with each other. You need some positive thoughts to help you through this. I will never forget Nancy.

some one upthread who was a shoe seller or former shoe seller said they looked like loafers but I thought in parts of the doorway video they seemed to have laces (?) IMO. The video is really grainy so tough for me to tell what is real and what is artifact. They did not look work down, ripped or dirty to me FWIW, so I think this person is not living under a cactus. IMO.

IMO, I don't believe it was brutal inside. If it was, I think we would have heard it was an apparent murder scene vs a kidnapping. I can't wrap my head around the idea that the family would entertain ransom notes if there was an obvious sign of murder, i.e."brutal" inside.

Per early reporting, the scene was alarming enough for the Sheriff to call in a homicide team. IMO, there has been very little mention of this fact, since.

On Sunday afternoon, Nanos received a text describing the state of Guthrie’s home that put him on edge.

“They described to me a scene that just disturbed me,” the sheriff told CNN.

Though Nanos declined to share the contents of the message, he said they were concerning enough to call in the homicide team, as well as search and rescue, he said. “Something didn’t sound right to me.”

AGREE! At the risk of repeating myself, IMO if this case ever goes to trial, a good defense attorney will have a field day slapping down the evidence. The crime scene was released after 24 hours. I’d argue that anything found after that period is questionable. This makes me furious, btw.

Why would any smart criminal buy a legal gun in the same place they committed a capital crime?

Same reason so many murderers are caught on Walmart cctv within miles of their crime scene buying shovels, tarps, Lyme, rubber gloves, and large containers.

I also remember reading this same explanation for the photo without pistol and backpack on this thread, very shortly after the video and stills were posted here. I do not remember if the poster provided a source. I kept hoping whomever posted this the first time would weigh in here again. If someone bookmarked that post, please speak up!

I do indeed remember that photo without all his garb on and the commentator said "they removed the jacket and backpack so viewers could see the image without them, to help identify him" . Can't provide source as that was many moons ago.

I'd also argue a defense attorney can argue that any forensic evidence or crime scene analysis from the home is not to be relied on if this is how LE has treated the crime scene, I am still shocked that they have not fenced NG property temporarily just to ensure nobody has access to the scene, I see no black powder in any photographs of the outside of her home, the front door photographs show the white camera bracket still there after they released the crime scene and I see no black fingerprint powder on it

After many hours of research of everything we know, of almost everything available open - source, I have a completely different thought of what the motive is in this case.

The discovery of the possible ring on the suspects right hand may be a dead giveaway. Someone will or has already recognized it IMO. For the subject to wear the ring during the crime, it must have significance to them. Why risk losing it? Or did he know he would not take his glove(s) off and therefore he would keep his precious ring on. He was not planning on going through drawers, trying to open a safe (if there was one) with his clumsy gloves.

No, not a burglary gone wrong, but taking or hurting a specific person with the intention to further hurt another family member - SG. ALL IMO- MOO etc.

The subject committed this crime to hurt SG. He wants SG to feel fear, despair and see her feel hopeless. The subject may have experienced loss in his own family - perhaps several losses- and something SG did, said or wrote may not have sit well with the subject. The subject has mental and or health issues IMO and has a deranged mind.

Tracing family lineage through DNA will solve this case hopefully soon. Whether we will know about Nancy Guthrie’s whereabouts ands state is another question. The hope dies last..

I’m thinking LE has not publicly discussed the shoes because they didn’t want the perp to get rid of them. You can be sure they are deep into trying to identify brands and treads. This is the kind of info they would put into their sealed affidavits.

I'm a mandated reporter because of my job, so I've called APS and CPS in the past for various reasons. I wouldn't think that a layperson would call APS in this situation; it's really not an APS situation. I believe that most people's understanding is that protective services are for abuse or neglect.

Maybe the call is unrelated to NG being missing; in my state it generally takes a couple of days for protective services to come out. Maybe the neighbor saw the bruising on NG's arm and thought she was being abused?
