For what it's worth...
I ran the image of the masked man through an AI program in an effort to clean it up and reduce the glare of the flashlight.
Here is the result.View attachment 646187
Why would anyone use a flashlight in their mouth when it is so easy to get a headlamp? I'd like to say that is so dumb, except he hasn't been caught yet.

It is interesting to see all the precautions he took like gloves, mask etc. Yet holds a flashlight in his mouth full of saliva. Makes me think if he ever took it out of his mouth to communicate with Nancy. Is he that dumb that he never considered that his saliva is full of his dna?

Do you think it could be possible that one of these people could be female? Just wondering with the well groomed eyebrows, and OP mentioned a graphic showing a wider hip……???
Just thinking that an alleged “kidnapping group” may have included a female if they were planning on kidnapping an elderly lady ???

Just wondering and IMO
I do not believe kidnapping was the intent, but the unfortunate outcome of a burglary gone bad. I say this because the fact that he brought a backpack, used little effort at hiding his identity, did a casual walk up the sidewalk and allowed himself to be recorded on doorbell camera, all of which speaks of an incompetent bungler, rather than a sophisticated kidnapper. I also believe he acted alone. I have seen nothing credible that suggests more than one person.

My belief is that he broke into her home, knowing who she was, likely from a previous encounter (think a service person of some kind) and was planning on stealing small valuables. I also believe she encountered him and recognized either his appearance or voice. After that, he panicked and felt forced to take control of her to stop her from screaming and/or calling the police.

His behavior then became irrational and fear driven and that is why he forced her to leave with him.

I also feel that he separated from her very quickly, leaving her in the desert not too far away, but incapacitated.

My guess is that when you have an elderly adult reported 'missing', as NG was, Social Services, in the form of APS, is called by LE to 'tag along', or follow LE. A 'welfare check' on an elder adult by LE may trigger them, as first responders, to put in a report. APS can also provide supportive services and resources to the family. I tend to not put much significance into the APS card having anything to do with her being missing, JMO.
If it's a large enough county, the APS response might even be part of an automated process. I, too, don't put much significance into it.

Every morning since her disappearance I wake up with hope for her and her family that something happened overnight. Checking again this morning and unfortunately no new news. I hope and pray today is different. I hope NG finds her way back to her family and loved ones soon.

Because the mouth one is easier to turn on and off?

I have been a genealogist before the internet and started with ancestry.com when membership was very small. One reason their database is so vast is directly related to their policy in not allowing the database to be shared (LE, med. Insurance etc). Even inside ancestry, you can make your results private. I also uploaded my DNA into GED to be helpful. It only takes one and you get genetic info on two separate families (mother/father). But if you track those two parents…..the information expounds.
Those like me that have used reversed genealogy to reunite adoptees and birth families, identify John/Jane Does and now perpetrators in crime know how valuable these databases are. Still, if you came to ancestry, paid money for their specific test, understanding that it does not go beyond their walls 20 years ago or yesterday, could be problematic if they changed their policy. How ancestry keeps a secure wall is only allowing DNA result from tests purchased by them and sent by to them. Otherwise, any LE could just upload a sus DNA. Ancestry does not allow outside uploads.
Yes but Gedmatch doesn't sell DNA kits, their data base consists of uploads from the major DNA sites. So on Gedmatch you indirectly get some of the other data bases. And you can see which data base the Gedmatch matches are from and then go there and do a search for those family trees. So there is a bit of work around.

That is an interesting question, would Ancestry lose their customer base if they open up to LE? I wonder how many consumers care? All they know is that they can get a DNA kit for $39 when Ancestry runs a sale. And the attached trees to the match list is superb, historical records and searches are fabulous.

But you could be right, it would spook the consumer base if LE is a major presence there. Especially these days.

But Ancestry still has to response do a warrant does it not? So LE can get into the data base if they want. I think CeCe Moore in a recent video was suggesting the Guthries beg Ancestry to let them in their data base?

Some of us here have been discussing that a female might be part of the kidnapping team. We are basing it on these ideas:
1. A neighbor mentioned that he had seen a young male/female couple, strangers, in the neighborhood who appeared to be looking around prior to the crime.
2. LE seems to be looking at mother/son suspects in recent investigations.
3. A young or older female pretending to be in distress might get NG to open the front door.
4. A female might be a better caregiver to an older woman being held captive.

I agree, especially considering he would make it difficult to swallow. At some point, I would think it would have to be removed and he would then risk the spread of DNA.

That said, it did hide his mouth and lips from identification.

I got my post blurred for using AI

I know we all try and stay away from AI but that picture is just wow. Surely the FBI has done something similar. Someone should recognize him if that is the case.
The AI is making up what it thinks the eyes look like once the glare it removed. It is not actually what the eyes look like; it is a prediction machine. So no, the FBI will hopefully have not done anything similar.

I thought that a friend called LE when she didn't show up for church, and then AG. It was a neighbor? The neighbor called APS?
I though friend called Nancy’s family, family went over to find her missing but her things still there, so they called LE.

Bite Lights are commonly used by pilots for flight deck operations. Does NG know any pilots?

Exactly, it is a prediction machine. What do you think Parabon Labs does with their DNA algorithm? They predict what the donor might look like, which is exactly what the AI did. I see that it got blurred anyway, so it is irrelevant.

Snipped by me

I can’t get past how full the backpack was. Typically a burglar with a backpack would have it to put things in as he steals them. A burglar might have a few tools - lock picks or pry bars or something but not a backpack full of whatever he has in there.

Maintenance people, as well as at times, need a flashlight while doing maintenance jobs. It's extremely handy while working in tight situations when using both hands.

People who fish use them as well.

What stage of the encounter was the image of the full backpack taken? He appears to have his back to the doorbell camera, so is he on his way out? If so, where is Nancy? You would think he would be holding her, forcing her ahead of him.

Great question! They are also used by Engineers or Techs repairing large equipment that need hands free and a host of other jobs.

I bet LE/FBI are looking at any recently purchased Bite Lights or the rubber ring mouthpiece sold that attaches to the small pen light (usually in the 4x1 neighborhood).

Reminds me of LE searching Amazon for recently purchased KBAR knives in the BK Idaho Mass Murders. Bingo
