I do not claim to be any sort of forensics expert, and I certainly think that LE and the FBI have their reasons, but wouldn't you think that the front porch Mat would be in some sort of evidence? I mean, like everything else, it is too late, but the perp was obviously standing on it. Like someone else mentioned, he could have drooled while using the flashlight. Couldn't his shoes have fibers or something from his house/car that may have possibly been left behind? That is stuff that can be compared to a potential perps actual home/car after they've been caught. Not to mention that there is a good chance there was blood on it. Maybe they just did a luminol test on site and figured that it wasn't important.

The only thing that I can think of why they didn't take the doormat is they might have assumed that it had tons of DNA from various individuals' shoes and maybe that made it an unlikely item to collect and test. Just a thought.

I do believe that they still should have collected it though.

They didn't collect the branches in Delphi at first because they said the type of surface made it difficult to test.

It is exactly 50 yards.

Dr. Ann Burgess in MA, and Dr. Gary Brucato in NY , work together on many cases and have written books on characteristics, what to look for ...

With respect, those aren't foot prints or tire tracks. They are two lines that look like something or someone was dragged through there.

Not for us to decide, and the reason they don't have lights all over is they confuse wildlife, especially birds. Very sad, but in somewhat isolated, overall calm areas, crime will eventually rear its ugly head. Certainly, all this attention will bring all kinds to the neighborhood. Hoping for the best outcome for all, especially the family.

It may not be for us to decide but it is very much up to the voting citizens there to decide. There has been updates in lighting technology such as sheilds to be put over street lights where they beam down and not up. It is common sense that more violent crime takes place at dark. Star gazing and wildlife can be protected and more importantly the AZ citizens if the right technology is sourced. IMO

I know we can beat the APS horse to death, but my hope is the call was investigated beyond "neighbor phoned in to report missing person." Who knows if Nancy may have confided something in her prior to her disappearance and that was the real motivation behind the call.

I’ve seen different things posted about adult protective services and I was wondering if anyone has ever thought about the fact that someone called them on her as way of getting her out of her house or to somehow make her family look bad.

My grandparents were a lot like her. In their 80s, with limited mobility, and lived in a house that was far too big for them to take care of. They would not leave for various reasons that they never explained. They had a nosy neighbour that complained to APS they were being neglected and that triggered a visit from a social worker who determined they were not fit to live in their home and that was the catalyst for them moving into a home.

They had to sell their house and a lot of people in the area with relatives who were looking for a home or we’re looking to relocate to the area to be closer to family were interested in it… assuming they could get it at a very discounted price. The nosy neighbour also made it a point to tell anyone who would listen how terrible her children were because they wouldn’t help my grandparents with cooking, cleaning, etc.

There are benefits, if one is being realistic. A poster laid out a compelling overview many many pages ago.

You have cheap and accessible medical care and medicine (many Americans go over the border to buy drugs and steroids at unregulated pharmacies). Easy to find a female older caretaker for an elderly medically compromised woman. You have a cultural concept of no snitching and minding your business much more so, local police and political corruption, bribes, far less regulation and surveillance state. You have far less heat and investigation on you and jurisdictional and resource complications. Much easier to lay low and disappear overall.

As I said, 1,000s of Americans cross over and back every day. Border towns have many dual nationals and it's much more casual and in some areas less monitored than most think.

Agreed, about extra layer bringing a perp back to USA, but it’s really not a big hurdle at all. My experience with CA criminals that were recently caught( all found in Rosario Beach), when caught, brought back to USA, it’s only an extra day or two at most, have to send US Marshalls to escort across border. Of course more bureaucracy, but it’s not a long process. US and MX work together on border crossing criminals.

Re Meds, yes, I am aware of meds in Mexico, easy access. Sadly, I don’t think NG is alive, so meds not necessary.

I can see a criminal heading to Mexico , thinking they are going to enjoy freedom there. If they go
way south, better chance of hiding. Think of Ryan Wedding, 10 years( of course he had cartel helping protect him). Others have gone deep into s MX and avoided capture longer than along N border.

I am surprised they left the mat. That mat was not a random object. It's a primary contact surface. To counter my comment, they probably fully documented the mat with photos and swabs. IMO

Yes, in normal circumstances you'd assume it was blown there by the wind or something. But NOT when you're at a crime scene, it's directly under the door and right next to the blood droplets. I would've assumed it would be procedure to at least grab it for evidence.

When this case first broke and Brian showed us the door/blood droplets, I saw people comment on the lantana and what it was doing there. If WS can notice it just from photos, surprised LE didn't. Not knocking on LE, I'm just curious what their thought process was at first.

It is bringing back memories of the McStay family and the belief that they went to Mexico. I understand why they’re checking out that theory but my gut tells me she’s still in the US. The perp, however, may have fled. Unfortunately, they don’t know who they’re actually looking for. I wonder if they can look at records of who crossed the board the day she vanished or a day later. That could take forever. They’d have to track down people living in Mexico or tourists who could live anywhere in the US.

We have “dark sky” here( CA), but it does not seems as dark as NGs neighborhood, maybe not as strict.
In my area, I think people who already had lighting in place, could leave it, still use. new construction ( after the ordinance started) had to specify downlighting only.

I know a neighboring house, for Sale for 2 years, they constantly leave the lights on, very bright, no consequences.

I don’t think they issue tickets here for too much light, it’s up to each individual to do the right thing to try to maintain a dark sky.

Based on looking up her address on google earth, I don’t believe the trash can would be dragged through that spot. The trash is most likely kept near the garage and brought to the entrance of the driveway. The photo shown shows the driveway exit based on where the garage is.

When was this picture taken? The foot traffic must have been significant since the scene was released the first time (3x total) and pizza guys and pool cleaners were walking and driving since then. The night of the SWAT raids Tucson had some decent rain as well.

I initially wondered if they tested tire tracks/soil samples seeing the type of driveway it was and assuming he'd pull the car up out of sight, but at some point after the scene was released and there was so much foot traffic that scene was cooked.

On February 2, 2026 when the scene was still a sealed off crime scene by LE before they first released it those lines were visible.
