AZ Nancy Guthrie, 84, (mother of TODAY Show host Savannah Guthrie) missing - last seen in the Catalina foothills area on Jan 31, 2026

Guy knows he is being captured on video, hence he tries to cover the lens before he removes it. But he is recorded on his approach, showing his entire height, frame, gait, eyes, mouth, and outfit, and while he turns around to look for material to cover it, showing his backpack, so the only part he would be attempting to conceal from the camera would be the manner of Nancy's removal, the direction/location of his vehicle, and a side view of his vehicle departing, if he drove past the house. He could have easily covered his license plate. It's possible after the camera removal it was dark in the porch and he didn't notice the blood trail giving direction to the vehicle, and possible shoe prints he left behind.

Did he think removing the camera would remove storage of the video?

1. We have never confirmed that he took the camera. Early on, I believe that it was stated that the camera was sent to the crime lab. Truth is, I don't know if we know this for sure.
2. He was most likely trying to cover up any video of a car that maybe pulling up, but also, maybe initially he was covering up how he was getting into the house, sure looked like he wanted to knock initially

In my opinion, the likelihood that anyone outside of groups focused on the disappeared (such as Madres Buscadoras de Sonora) would help search for NG in Mexico is very low. The Sonoran desert is vast, and if there happened to be a cartel connection, the fear of what could happen to average citizens who push back or report is greater than any desire to help.

I wouldn't chalk it up to a lack of humanity, or a dislike of the US, but when you live in a smaller town that is dominated by criminal activity, or that exists in the periphery of it, survival is very much a priority.

I feel so bad for those who live in those situations, such evil in this world

And this is going to sound horrific, so my apologies, but also wild animals will eat her remains, and likely scatter/spread the bones too.

Arizona is pure harsh desert/mountain wilderness. To dispose of her in the garbage is cheap and amateur.

But it has happened to other missing people on here, I'm thinking of Heidi Planck who went missing from an apartment block in Los Angeles in 2021. The Chiquita Canyon Landfill site was searched, although nothing was found sadly.

Unfortunately, a landfill would be a perfect dumping ground, because the inherent odors will easily mask...you know.

But cadaver dogs could find her. It would only mask the smell for humans.

I was also thinking that she could also have been kept alive down there easier than here since people are so scared of the crime organizations, plus they would be able to get whatever meds she needed. This was my wishful thinking. The greater the level of organized crime the better.

An 84-year-old woman who was reported missing in Arizona has been identified by officials as the mother of "Today" show host Savannah Guthrie.

The Pima County Sheriff’s Department announced during a news conference on Sunday that Nancy Guthrie was last seen in the Catalina Foothills area on Saturday night at approximately 9:45 p.m.

Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos said a family member reported her missing on Sunday, around noon.

Nanos said search and rescue teams have been out at Nancy Gutherie's home, along with homicide teams and detectives.

Foul play has not been ruled out at this time.

While searching for bitelights, the top Google result (for me) was Manhattan Wardrobe Supply. And that got me thinking, could this person be familiar with this site? Do wardrobe/hair/makeup people regularly use bitelights? Was disguising makeup purchased?

Am I correct in saying that Nancy was on camera in both the NYC studio and in Tucson?

Yes I’ve seen a couple clips of NG in the NYC NBC studio (in one of the episodes NG surprised SG by showing up on the set). I also saw a clip of SG, NG, and AG in Tucson sitting at a table in a restaurant. I believe that particular show clip was titled ‘Savannah Guthrie visits her hometown’, something to that effect. I believe links to these episodes have been posted here, they are easily findable online as well.

That said, it’s not too late for LE to collect the door mat. Yes it’s been trampled on, but who knows what else might be found. I don’t think it should be left there at the house. MOO.

Possibly, but it isn't a precise action. Landfills are extremely difficult for search teams because of overwhelming background odors, constantly shifting trash layers, heavy machinery disturbance, heat and moisture that speed decomposition, and massive search areas, but if there is a good idea of where to search, it could be successful.

Consider that:

1. The neighborhood is dark. There are no streetlights. I'm not sure if people have floodlights on motion sensors.
2. There are ~five roads leading into/out of the neighborhood (source: post 35291 on page 1765.)
3. The houses are set back from the road. Cameras mounted on houses may not even pick up the road.
4. Traffic cameras in the neighborhood do not record and retain video. (source: post 25,581 on page 1280.)

So unless the guy either lives or works in the neighborhood, he could easily drive in, abduct NG, and exit without leaving video evidence apart from the camera footage at NG's house.

Only FOUR directions, as northwest on E Camino el Ganado turns back northeast into a cul de sac.
