So true. Heck, there's a bazillion different opinions on the man in the video. Some think it's a woman. Some say he looks white, others think he's Hispanic or Middle Eastern. Some think he's young, some say middle aged. How the heck is he supposed to be identified when he looks like everyone and no one at the same time?

He could be a worker, a neighbor, a stalker, a burglar, a tweaker, an American, a foreigner, etc. At this point, who isn't on the list?

It really is a wake up call that even with actual security video, and with widespread publicity of the video, and even with a reward, a criminal cannot necessarily be identified.

Just noting that I don't think most people believe they will ever really receive a reward and they're correct. But, your point is well taken. This case highlights security issues in that region and the world at large.

Could the DNA be a mixture because it is partially matching someone's buccal swab DNA that was already taken and submitted into evidence from Nancy's family, friends, workers?

Btw, I need DNA for dummies. I don't know much about it.

Right now, I gather that the borders are pretty much closed to people coming from other countries. At the moment, I think most undocumented people would already live here. (I mean, new people still enter the U.S., but I don't think they're likely to commute back and forth.)

Of course, if an undocumented person, or a U.S. citizen, had committed a crime in the US, they might flee to Mexico.

My guess is that Lantana man is at least a resident of the U.S. I mean, he appears to do some of his shopping at or from Walmart....

That's scary. How would they track them down? I hope they are successful with the DNA but let's just say it is an undocumented worker would they even be able to track them via DNA or genealogy?
I read that there are undocumented workers who cross the border everyday to work and then go back across the border in the evening after work.

If they are an undocumented worker, depending on their genetic makeup, they maybe difficult to track via DNA. Spanish and Native Americans are sadly very underrepresented in the databases, making it hard to pinpoint a family tree to work.

They have been working her case for years. They have made progress, but not close enough for an identification. Due to the lack of close matches and endogamy in the ancestral trees of her DNA cousins and complications related to tracing the migration of persons from Mexico to the United States we still haven’t identified her immediate family.

Who could be a man (and may be along a companion woman) who’s voice would be familiar and non threatening to Nancy Guthrie such that she would open the door at 2:30 am to respond to pressing call?

• IF there is zero blood inside the house (this is a large IF since the FBI wisely and the talkative side fortunately are mute about it), then Nancy Guthrie was struck and injured at the threshold of her house where her blood is
• She is forcibly removed and disappeared from her home, which technically means the crime is a kidnapping
• Given that she was certainly taken violently and injured, there is a possibility that it was a first degree murder from day one
• Given that Nancy Guthrie is 1) 84 year old, 2) with heart condition, 3) on pacemaker, 4) taking life saving medications daily, 5) injured, and 6) outside the comfort of her home for 23 days, sadly this crime looks like a first degree murder now

There's been no confirmation that she did open the door. The reporting I've seen suggests the Sheriff said she was taken from her bed while sleeping.
