Mostly that he pulled himself over and started to confront police which probably escalated the drama. I thought it was paranoid or guilty seeming. I'm not saying he's guilty just think that was weird.
That is somewhat strange, true.

It’s maddening. I live in the same county that Missy Bevers was murdered in. If you haven’t head of this case - please - take a look at the video of the perp in her murder and tell me why we are sitting here nearly 10 years later with an unsolved murder? (Now - I will say I think some “good ole boy” politics play into Missy’s murder).
But for Pete’s sakes - there’s how many minutes of video of the perp and still no clue??
I hope and pray that someone comes forward and ID’s Lantana man. I hope I’m not posting about this 10 years from now saying can you believe they never ID’ed this person. May this be the week that Nancy is found. Please.
I followed Missy's case as well. Very very said that it hasn't been solved yet. Even my husband, who doesn't slueth knows of her (through me being here at WS, of course) He even asked me the other day, did they solve the Missy Beavers case? Unfortunately, I had to tell him no, not yet. I sure hope you are correct and we are not here in 10 years waiting for NG's perp to be brought to justice. But I have hope and I have faith--because of the Libby and Abby case---that the perp's time is limited and justice will be served for NG and her family soon.

It's definitely interesting if nothing else! I saw an interview with CP on Entertainment Tonight where he says exactly this. It was on Facebook and I wasn't sure if that's a valid source to link here but it's there if anyone wants to watch it.

I would say they might still be interested in his phone? Not sure if that's just a procedural issue. Without knowing the evidence used to attain the warrant it's too difficult to judge. I've heard several reasons suggested but nothing clear.

The searchers found a backpack on the side of a road near her Tucson home. A Pima County sheriff’s deputy collected it as the search for Nancy entered its fourth week.

They got the backpack about two miles away from where Nancy was last seen.

Nearby, all those volunteers also found clothing and a black glove inside a drainage pipe.

All the items were then carefully handed to authorities as the group, called Searching Mothers of Sonora, is made up of women from Mexico who have lost loved ones to violence.

Snipped by me for emphasis;

I just hope it doesn't take 5 years as that case did.

Also, the arrest of Richard Allen was unique in that it had to do with his being on file as having come forward to admit he was on the trails that day.

I'm not sure there is anything here that could have been missed and later be returned to.

My own fear is that the perp could be from Mexico and returned to his home there, without any real records on him here.

I read last night that Sheriff Nanos said the backpack is not related to the case, but I can't find the source now. Will keep searching....

This the timeline of the doorbell footage I keep seeing being published (used ai to source):

1:47 am
  • Doorbell camera suddenly goes offline
  • Investigators believe the intruder disabled it deliberately
~1:50 am – 1:53 am
  • Camera briefly reconnects
  • Masked intruder appears on video
So how was the camera initially disconnected at 1:47am before the recording at 1:50-1:53am.

This is very interesting if true.
I’m not sure where AI got this info for 150-153am but it may be yet another reason not to use AI as a source. I have not heard this info before and if anyone has a source for it other than AI, please share.

Just a reminder to everyone that Tricia has asked us not to use AI as facts on WS and suggested that we can use it for our own notes but to find a source for any thing it presents as facts that it may suggest because it is frequently wrong.

Tricia’s comments on AI from another thread…
Hey everyone,

Just a reminder that we do not allow AI-generated posts to be used as factual information. AI often gets things wrong, so we have to be very careful.

Using AI for inconsequential purposes is fine — for example, organizing your own notes, helping with wording, or asking general questions that do not change or establish facts in a case.

I ask AI for facts of cases all the time because it is hard to remember everything but then I source those facts myself with a Google search. I only include facts that I know are correct and the only way I can check AI facts is to source them myself.

However, when AI is used to present factual information about a case, those posts will be blurred. You can still read them, but they cannot be used as factual evidence in the discussion.

Here are a couple of examples of why this matters.
I was writing a post for Websleuths. I asked for a list of what happened on this day in history on Jan. 20th.
It gave me this story about a man who stole a tank and drove it all around a city. Except it happened on June 6th, not Jan 20th. When I asked how it got the date so wrong, it said, "I accidentally pulled the wrong date." LOL
I once asked AI whether Olivia Newton-John and Karen Carpenter were best friends. Don’t ask me why — I did. The answer I got was: “Yes, they were so close they even attended each other’s funerals.”

AI can be an amazing tool, but please use it carefully. When it comes to true crime, facts matter.
Thanks.
Tricia

RA LE messed up spectacularly, I remember those bizarre press conferences where they revealed sketch 2 only that was now sketch 1 and the actual suspect who looked very young, but also it could be the other sketch who looked to be 40 or 40, but then it could be a mixture of the two, and then they went back to sketch 1 completely forgetting about the young person sketch, the mixed media messages, the statements made then changed, the giving information out in one on one interviews remind me of the RA muddled media messaging,

and we do not know if they have missed something, RA LE did not know they had missed something for 6 years, I think it is always a good idea to go back to day 1 if the case is not progressing and look again at the scene, how the scene looks, all the evidence collected on day 1, there initial thoughts on what they thought happened and if they have changed, and it is very important to get fresh eyes to review the investigation as they may see something the initial investigators didn't

Saying this could have been prevented if NG had a guard dog, or a gun, or a robust and monitored security system, or a 24/7 armed security person, a moat and barbed wire with a fire breathing guard dragon, a husband or anything else that one thinks might have been helpful to ward off an attacker or otherwise deter an attack simply reads as victim blaming for having not done enough to prevent her own attack and disappearance. Whatever women do is never enough it seems, they always could have done more or done some thing better. If NG was a male I doubt this would keep coming up. MOO.
Beautifully said.

How much do women have to do before they're living in their own prison?!

So sad we have to do this.

Nancy Guthrie Update: Son-In-Law Faces Scrutiny Over $1M Home And Inheritance Trail

Investigators released Nest and Ring camera footage showing a masked intruder entering Nancy's home.
.
SNIPPED BY ME

Hey Scooby! I’m not sure I’d trust a source that starts with an error in the first sentence. There was no Ring camera. While ibtimes is considered mainstream media, it seems they got this and other information in the article from speculation rather than verified sources. I don’t put much confidence in anything the article says.

I wonder why someone would want to own desert land? Not my idea of a good investment.

Grazing.

A landowner using the land for their own hoof stock or for leases to other ranchers.

Here's some history of gazing back to when it was more lucrative but unfettered destroying the native plants and terrain.

* Note, from the link, to those who are inspired to visit Saguaro National Park to see the beautiful desert environment and the success of the plant recovery:

Danger

  • Signal Hill Trail closure due to aggressive bees
Alert 1, Severity danger, Signal Hill Trail closure due to aggressive bees

The Signal Hill trail leading up the hill, as well as the area at the top, are currently closed due to a large presence of aggressive bees. For the safety of all visitors, this area will be temporarily unavailable for the time being. The lower trails around the hill, and the picnic grounds, are still open for use. Thank you for your patience.

So if anyone was wondering why it might not be a good idea to go poking around in the remote desert areas on foot this is why the drones and helicopters make sense, imo.

all imo

I thought it was strange that the attorney said his client pulled over to confront le in an unmarked car. Unless that's normal and more related to current politics, I think it's suspicious. I wish the attorney had clarified. It struck me as paranoid.
I didn’t catch that it was an unmarked car so thanks for pointing that out. I might have found it more strange if it had been a marked car and a driver stopped to confront them knowing they were LE. But it is not unheard of for a driver to notice someone following and stop to confront them to see what’s going on - it’s certainly not something I would do or recommend - but it happens more than you might think.

There is a reference to the backpack that was found here:

THANKS VERY MUCH FOR THE LINK!!🔗 🙏

@imstilla.grandma

🌟Investigators said the backpack is not a viable lead — it appears to have been outside for much longer than 3 weeks and contained a minor's ID.

If it was a S*x assault (I hope it wasn’t), removing her body and hiding it well, would decrease the chance of finding the perp’s DNA on

If it's someone local, they could've walked the neighborhood daily, waiving to neighbors with a smile as they scan for camera locations. Dusk would be a great time to check lighting, too. It'd be much easier to plan a route by scanning on foot rather than creeping around in a car, which is sus. Just an idea.
Does Nancy usually stay overnight at her daughter’s house on game night? Was this a one off that she was even home. Maybe you’re right and he’s done this before? Familiar with the area. She recognized him. Also backpacks in the backpack to carry stuff.

  • #37,638
So just to be clear, Investigators do NOT see the backpack that volunteers found as a viable lead:

I agree. 20 / 30s . He was very calm. He was either experienced, or in a familiar place (contractor? )
I also lean towards that possibility. Either a contractor, or somebody connected to a contractor acting on: "Guess what about one of the houses I clean...." type information.

Going into numbers and going back as far as say five years, I wonder how many contractors have been in the house? One member stated that the house is older. My guess is that it is also very well maintained with proactive repairs and plenty of preventive maintenance. With fuzzy numbers, maybe....

-Cleaners: 2 standard as the home is large. Allowing for substitutes, days off, employee turn over and one contractor turn over say.... 10.

- Possible home health care: 1 standard. Allowing for the above, say... 5?

- Plumbers, AC: Older houses can have mainline problems etc. AC is a must in AZ. Higher wage with less turn over. Maybe 8 total over five years allowing for employee turn over and the presence of assistants / trainees?

- Yard guys and pool guys. Pool guys usually work alone, yard guys may have a crew just for increased efficiency, could well have more turn over. Say.... accounting for the all the above, plus a small crew and route changes for yard guys.... maybe 10 total?

- Carpenters, roofers, tech installers, appliance guys, electricians, painters: Not needed as much. Some will be one timers- but still were there: 12 in total- especially if they had a roofing crew?
