I wonder if the resident who has the new roadway footage already had submitted it to LE. However, they decided to take matters into their own hands releasing it to the media, because they hadn’t heard back? With 10,000+ hours of footage to comb through, I’m sure it’s a long, grueling process. For all we know they could be sitting on a smoking gun that they haven’t got to yet. I’m unsure protocol for reviewing footage? MOO

I’m suddenly getting Delphi murder vibes when they had “the tip” all along. 😵‍💫
Is there somewhere on line to see that footage?

I have no issue with LE here. I don't expect them to go door to door in a neighborhood that isn't NG's. My issue is the home owner found the suspicious footage their camera recorded and instead of going straight to LE to let them process it they went to the media and made a statement that they were never asked to review their video which IMO was a slam at LE. Why not just let LE know and forget contacting the media?
BBM Good point. Why go to the media, indeed? I knew you had no issue with LE. I was really addressing turning over footage in general. Again, good point about media. 15 minutes of fame? Potential for reward cut? Who knows??? MOO

LE cant go door to door. People work. LE comes to my door. I'm at work. Wasted trip through the neighborhood for LE. Go door to door at night? Perhaps??? General request through local media, Please check your doorbell cameras etc. Most coverage possible with little effort. Homes on NG's street, sure. Do you have to allow them access to my camera? I dunno. As far as being confronted door to door vs general pleas for footage, I would say this. Stop waiting for an invitation. If you have something , say something.

Considering the way online sleuths, pod casters etc have defamed people who "might" be tangentially connected to NG, would YOU want to even enter this arena? We can all say we would do the right thing BUT what's the right thing for you and yours? JMO
Alternatively I’ve (annoyingly) mentioned numerous times that I was recently adjacent to a very serious crime (in the same state which I haven’t mentioned before) and fielded two in person and one phone request for my camera video - all via the same dept. Started to wonder if they talk to each other.

Intentional obfuscation MOO
Yep, it seems pretty clear that they've been trying to obfuscate with confusing and contradictory statements for awhile now. Probably trying to throw Lantana Guy off and make him uncertain about what they have on him or where the investigation is going. Not a bad strategy.

I can only speak for myself, but I might do that if I thought the footage might be important, but that LE would refuse to take it from me due to a technical stipulation.

Watch about 40 seconds in!

Looks like a run of the mill silver Kia Soul to me. Any airport Hertz or Avis or Budget has those.

JMO.

Exactly. I’d give my video over no problem but how can anyone expect anyone to even actually “know” what they’re even supposed to be looking for …other than an average height and build masked male with an ozark trail backpack and a gun . Or someone/something that looks, sounds, behaves suspicious. They’ve given the public nothing but crumbs. I get it. LE/FBI are holding their cards so close. There’s a definite reason for being cautious about it too. IMO they have suspect(s) identified. Now, They just need it all to come together so they can prove it. It’s wild how it’s playing out in the public arena tho.

I think they did it so the world knows they deserve that $1mm prize if this is the key.

Kind of smart.

Snipped by me.

I’ve been thinking about this. With the thousands and thousands of tips coming in, you’d think LE would want to narrow them down by giving the public a little something.

I agree with you. They’ve got someone, just waiting.

They probably went to media after failed attempts to contact LE and tip line.

What is the thought process of the night time robber? Why not go during the day when people are not home typically?

Why take the higher risk level going into an occupied home. Killing someone even accidentally when committing a robbery is felony murder.
I've been mulling over this as well and had wondered if she sometimes had saturday dinner at daughters and then spent the night versus taking an uber home, which could mean a thief with second or third hand knowledge might have assumed she would not be home. However, the fact they were armed leads me away from that theory. I'd like to know the statistics on armed home robberies versus an unarmed, I would think the vast majority are not armed, but I honestly don't know.

Good point. Perhaps they want it publicly documented that this video is theirs. It was not gathered by the police. They personally turned it over. If it helps bring NG home, their name is on the list for the reward.

$1 million dollars has a way of focusing the mind?

That's what I think! They didnt get a call back. Call fell thru cracks.

I think they are not sure what they have. Solid is the unquestionable appearance on video of lantana man at NG's home. They are in possession of thousands of tips. They have to work through those. They have 10,000 hours of ring video or something. Do they even know what is important? Not a slam at LE or FBI. It's like a back and forth thing. Ahhh.. I see a light colored truck. Let's look for that. Then when that doesnt pan out it's a kia soul to check..etc. In the beginning there were 2 raids that were apparently fruitless. They have become more discerning, perhaps? What constitutes a SOLID LEAD to follow? It's daunting...JMO

This IMO is altered. There is a small partial shape on orginal photo but its a shadow of the clip from a couple of light directions.
I just downloaded the pic from the FBI website, you can definitely see it in this pic as well. I added the yellow circle.

This looks like a home that is well-secured (the driveway gate). I'm glad they had a camera positioned at that point! I'm guessing a lot of people are going to be rethinking the option of having a camera positioned at their driveway entrance.

ETA: I used to own a home on 25 acres at the very top of a mountainous 1/4 mile road. No one else lived up there and it was my driveway. If I still owned that home a camera would be going in as I was basically a sitting duck up there.
