I am no body language expert. I noticed LD would make a statement and nod his head ‘no’ as if his words disagreed. Saw the same thing with BM (Morphew). It maybe the way they talk, but it was noticeable . Especially with LD

I rewatched the interview, this time without audio, and I noticed this immediately. His body language is incongruous with the words he is saying.

I once worked with a woman who did the same thing--shook her head "no" while speaking--and a colleague pointed it out to me. Turns out she had previously been in an infamous cult (whose members had been brainwashed), and it just creeped us out because we couldn't tell if she was trustworthy or not.

I'm also wondering why LD dressed the way he did for the interview. He looked very covered up.

6 million dollars is an arbitrary amount that doesn't have any 'dream of' symbolism to us. We don't go around saying "If I had 6 million dollars, I'd ______". But it is roughly 100 million pesos, which is a rounder number and may be a more common "dream of" amount there.

Just thinking about the ransom demand. Have not been able to reconcile such a seemingly random amount of USD as yet.

Does someone recognize the brand of LD's vest? Maybe, it's the same brand of Lantana man's fleece jacket?

I have listened to many podcasts on this case and heard probably over 2 dozen experts weigh in. Ex FBI, LE, etc etc.

The single thing that astounds ALL of them most is LE not taking the doormat away for further testing. Have yet to hear anyone that is not troubled by that.

They came back and took the Nest bracket after the video surfaced.....seems like that would have been the perfect opportunity to take the doormat as well. You would think.
I KNOW----and wouldn't you think they'd have taped off the front entry completely....NO one allowed to walk up those steps or onto that porch at all. Shocked me that they were so casual about that area.

Good morning! You are quite right. I don't for one minute think they carried her and per SG she wasn't capable of walking very far either. So, even if they forced her to walk at first, they would have ended up carrying her, unless the walking killed her. Given that the dogs found nothing and the blood drops end just below the porch, it seems reasonable there had to be a vehicle of some kind. MOO
She had a pacemaker. She was 84. It would not surprise me if she had a heart attack once she saw masked men and they began to force her outside. 😞 😢

So this makes me think items were taken from the house. ..
Not necessarily. People often wear jewellery on their person even while sleeping, and especially things on a chain like a necklace or bracelet can be broken during a struggle. They're exactly the kind of thing that might be small enough to be overlooked but picked up with ease by a detectorist.

I know it's been a long time since her husband died, but I wonder if Nancy still wore her wedding ring?

You see this all the time in cases.

People likely walked on it before LE even got there. I am sure it was photographed and sampled, but if they had blood inside, not necessarily any need to sample the blood outside.

What are we expecting to find on the doormat?

It's possible. Some people just don't wear one, though. My father-in-law never did because he worked sheet metal, and it's a safety issue. And some people stop wearing them because they gain or lose weight around their hands, the latter of which can happen when you lose muscle tone in your hands as you age. My partner never wears rings because her hands swell up or slim down depending on her circulation that day - after we lost her anniversary ring in the driveway and it was miraculously found quite a while later by my brother before it was crushed by a car (silver and rainbow moonstone, it would have been toast) she stopped wearing them all together. We know Nancy had heart issues and was likely on medication. So does my partner, though her issues are probably different. The meds, though, and how much you hydrate can really affect things like fluid retention.

I always say in these cases having to live with the ‘unknown’ is worse than finding your relative deceased.
I'm a K9 handler with a SAR bloodhound on a team that also has HRD dogs - I have ALWAYS heard from families that even if the outcome is a recovery and not a rescue, it is FAR better than the not knowing. I've been a part of some heartbreakingly beautiful moments with families and consider it an incredible privilege & honor to be part of these moments. But yes, the unknown is just so...unfinished. You don't want to give up hope but you're trying to balance the reality of odds and it has to just feel so confusing and heart shattering.

This is an interesting question.

Perhaps they looked up SG's net worth and figured $6 million was something she was capable of paying without too much trouble?

Kidnapping for ransom is a business crime and I would think kidnappers would be familiar with financial ability of the family to pay a ransom.

So how do they decide how much to ask for?

They have to ask for an amount the family can pay and do so quickly. There is not a lot of time to liquidate real estate assets etc.

Another thing to look at perhaps is if SG or husband had any financial disputes with anyone. Someone who felt they were owed around $6 million. A long shot but at least LE should ask that question? Maybe NG was just the way to get money owed kind of thing.

Edit to add: the cultural aspect of $6 million is something to think about, you point out it is a round number in pesos.

These metal detector searchers were amateur sleuths, not affiliated with LE. They were hanging out on NG's street with youtube streamers.

You are doing such important work from a psychological perspective. Providing closure for the family. Humans invented funerals and burial as a way to cope with death and loss. The ability to have a sacred ritual to help the deceased pass to an afterlife and to place the body in a known location. This gives closure to a family.
But you need a body for this. A grave marker with no body feels entirely wrong.

I know the Guthries want closure.

Exactly. It's a psychological thing. We humans like things to have a wrap up. Clear "finish line". Obviously, there are times where a recovery becomes just the next piece of the puzzle and you have suspects and a trial and appeals, etc. But having that part of the puzzle, your person, is an incredibly important piece of the healing that hopefully is to come.

Truly, it's an honor to run my dog. And my girl loves her job so it makes it even better. Early on in this case I was hoping to see dogs going to work but I am assuming she was put in a car relatively quickly and that scent took off with her & the perp(s). But even nailing down WHERE the scent disappears, analyzing wind, ground levels, potential scent pool areas, weather, terrain, you at least have an idea where there may be other cameras or witnesses who possibly saw SOMETHING.

Thank you for the kind words. I truly hate this "missing" part for families. I just hate it.

I was talking with a small group of older women yesterday. I know this is just anecdotal. The women are similar to NG, older, some health issues, smart, sharp, active. We were talking about the NG case.

The women were saying they would put up a fight if this happened to them. This surprised me as I assumed most of them would not. But most older women know what will happen if a stranger male abducts you into his car. And understand the odds of you getting out alive are slim. So there is nothing to lose. It made the older women very angry to think about it.

So maybe NG felt the same way and put up a fight, this is why there is blood. And yes she could have died during the struggle or had a heart attack.

Agreed – good interview. Let’s see if he’s right about the DNA and the tattoo.
Thanks for posting this. I thought I was hallucinating when I asked if anyone else saw a possible tattoo on his wrist and no one replied. lol That should really help to identify to him, especially to those who know him well, ie family, friends, coworkers, etc.

Still holding out hope and,

I believe in the body's fight/flight instinct to survive and I wouldn't be surprised if Nancy did just that despite her age. She would have known that nothing good was going to come of what was happening to her, especially if she was being made to get into a car (trunk?) and taken from her home.

How very sad to even think of what was actually taking place, but I can imagine it was utter confusion and terror. God bless her soul. :(
