AZ Nancy Guthrie (mother of TODAY Show host Savannah Guthrie) missing - last seen in the Catalina foothills area on Jan 31, 2026

Sheriff said they are not confirming there was blood. They did take DNA samples however and it came back as Mrs Guthrie's. He said they were hoping it would be a different profile.
I wonder if the droplets outside the home reported are still accurate and this is what they tested? So not in the home, outside the home

“Detectives collected DNA samples from the home that have been confirmed to belong to Nancy,” reads a portion of the email. “At this time, the Sheriff has not confirmed whether those samples were blood.”

Thank you.

The article I posted stated:

It is unclear whose blood it is, but it is being tested. Investigators and analysts are combing through the house in search of clues to the 84-year-old's disappearance.

Since she was out to dinner with family it seems reasonable to assume they escorted her into the house and got her settled in. But could someone have already been in there waiting, having forced entry earlier? If the point of entry was a door in the back, perhaps family would not have noticed it.

Or another thought, could she have been wearing some fancy jewelry at dinner and someone noticed her and followed them?

(Just some thoughts that have been bouncing around in my head and just my opinion and speculation)

LIVE Press Conference: Police Update on Missing Case of Nancy Guthrie-- Mother of Today Show Host

They're not confirming it because they need to protect the integrity of their case.

A homeowner's DNA would be found all over their house.

The ONLY source of her DNA that would raise alarm bells would be blood.

It's blood. LE's just not going to say so on the record. They hold their cards close to the chest.

It's possible they found an item in the house that they thought was not Nancy's so they did a DNA test on it hoping to find a different profile. Could have been anything - a knife, a knife sheath, an item they thought to be used to break in a house, a foot print, finger print, etc.

Press Conference From Pima County Sheriff's Office Updating on Nancy Guthrie

Is there a date on the photo?
I thought the photo was a screen capture from topography video

Former FBI special agent Nicole Parker ..... that Nancy Guthrie had likely been taken by someone with a “deep grievance”.

“I do believe that it was someone who likely knows her, knows her very well, or knows the structure of the home very well, knows that she lived alone, had their eye on her, and had the entry and exit points of the home, and is quite familiar,” Parker said.

Would agree this seems personal and not random.
Not impossible (for this to be random, it's happened before) -- but no ransom request and kidnapping a vulnerable elderly woman in the middle of the night sounds exactly like someone who knew their way around her house ?

Sad and infuriating, as all of us should be able to feel safe inside our own locked homes !!
Omo.
I was thinking though if it was premeditated why out of all days of the week would they pick the night before she is to show up for church and not another night of the week where they wouldn't notice her disappearance first thing late morning Maybe not until that night. JMO.

Based on what I’ve seen it sounds like her purse was found in her

I was wondering when someone was going to mention the dog. I was just catching up and was going to ask about the dog when I saw this post. I am behind.
I do find it curious that LE hasn't mentioned whether the dog was left in the home when they have mentioned Nancy's purse and cell phone was left. Also, was her cane left in the house?
Notice the bruising on Nancy's arm in one of the pics (also showing the cane). Those spots can bleed very easily. My 92 year old (late) mother would find blood on her sheets sometimes when the spots would bleed when she wasn't aware of it. The skin is very thin on elderly people.
As is always the case, LE knows so much more than we do. We only have a few pieces of the puzzle. I do think that LE was able to get information from Nancy's pacemaker and unfortunately it was negative information. Maybe showing that the pacemaker activated in a way that showed it shocked, then nothing. That would be a reason to suspend recovery and searches. Otherwise I think there would still be searches going on.
Did Nancy get up during the night to use the bathroom and maybe go to the kitchen and the dog indicated he/she wanted outside for the bathroom, then didn't come back in when she called him/her? Could she have stepped out and taken a few tentative steps, then found the strength to keep going to find the dog? She might have gotten lost and unable to continue. There have been times a missing person has been found in an area that has already been searched. It is usually not far from where they went missing.
Sorry for the long post everyone. I don't post often but when I do I tend to get longwinded.
I cannot stop thinking of Nancy, Savannah, and Annie as well as other family and friends.

If they are saying she was taken between 1AM and 4AM which seems specific then I wonder if the doorbell camera was removed at 1AM and her pacemaker quit responding at 4AM. Was this person or people with her for 3 hours in her house. This whole situation is terrifying to me.

Nancy Guthrie missing: Pima County Sheriff’s Department holds press conference

So now we know that her church is St Andrew's Presbyterian. That's at 7650 N Paseo Del Norte, Tucson, AZ 85704, which is approximately 5 miles from Guthrie's home at 5820 N Camino Escalante, Tucson, AZ 85718. (This might be relevant to the question of whether she usually drives herself to church.)

Disagree. Fluids in the bed would raise concern,

I like this reporter. I recall her interview with Lori Daybell and thought she did a fantastic job.

Brianna Whitney is fantastic. I highly recommend her. She's done phenomenal work in solved and unsolved true crime cases in AZ.

I read this last night, but too tired to respond. Thanks for this. I think it's a real possibility. w/o reading every post in the thread, I wouldn't be surprised if Savannah's mom had a ring camera.

But there are people who don't want to deal with them. (I am one) I'm a neighborhood volunteer and frequently see Ring cameras that are no longer working because I think there does need to be maintenance on them and just remembering to do the maintenance is probably a headache. I think when people see nothing on them, it's easy to let the devices fall into disuse. Recently hubby found a cigarette butt in our driveway. He said, "Someone was here last night". It's amazing that he noticed this. I keep thinking about getting them, but I feel that I woud need to be compelled to look at footage all the time and also the fact that my phone would go off everytime someone was at our door.
We had the Ring camera (and also external Ring devices) at a few homes. The only maintenance that I see is the battery in the doorbell needs to be replaced periodically. We had to do that for our old Ring. I don't know what kind of setup we have at our new home or if it requires a battery change periodically.

We also pay for Ring monitoring, which is very inexpensive. My husband has the app on his phone, and he can see who is at our door, which we like. It's very easy to look at the video on his phone. I think that you can set it up to send the information to your computer, if you want. With the monitoring services, I think that they store the video for a month.

We really liked the Ring system when we lived in Texas. It's amazing what the camera out back captured. It's great to be able to monitor who is outside of your home, especially, when you are out of town. Oh, if we had a bad storm, sometimes, the circuit breaker for the front doorbell would trip. You just had to remember to check it and reset it. :)

JMO.

Based on info at the bottom of the screen, it looks like CNN will be carrying this press conference too.

My husband is 85, he routinely has blood or bruises on him. His skin is like tissue paper. Geez, he was eating cereal the other day, and had blood dripping down his hand, he got a paper cut from the wax paper of the cereal box.

So, it could be from some routine. Especially as she is diabetic.

Edit: for some reason from the reports I thought she was...

This makes me wonder if the perpetrator isn’t very tech-savvy. Did he/she really think that the doorbell camera stores all of the data IN THE DOORBELL CAMERA? I would think that most people would at least have an idea that data is stored elsewhere (i.e. “in the Cloud”) and can be accessed remotely.

I know there are many different types of cameras and that each type probably has different “plan levels”, but to take the physical doorbell camera seems to point to someone who is unaware of current technology. It also makes me feel like this wasn’t well-planned, so could it be personal, impulsive and/or drug-fueled, etc?

My opinion on this would change if evidence shows that the doorbell camera was removed BEFORE the person entered the home. It would be very interesting to see what the last images were that were captured by the camera. Did it show someone trying to conceal their appearance and/or obstruct the camera’s view as they removed it? If so, then this would lead me to believe that this person quite likely entered the home with the intent to harm Nancy and remove her from her home BEFORE they ever entered the home.
I'm just thinking they took the doorbell camera as they didn't want it recording them on the way out I don't think it was taken because they figured it would destroy all evidence. JMO
