I realize the two girls aren't very bright but didn't know they were completely useless.

Useless is right. They are adults. But now, the parents don't think they can manage without one parent for 2 months?

The entitlement mentality here continues.

A major consideration in the college admissions process is the student's potential for success in the institution's academic environment. Colleges and universities are also interested in the contributions that students will make to the school community. Besides serious consideration of a student's academic credentials, admissions officials are also seeking students with (real) athletic ability, artistic talent, leadership skills, etc.

I doubt that Bella or Olivia Jade had the required academic credentials for admission to USC, and both probably would have struggled in the rigorous academic environment. Neither of them seem to have any exceptional gifts or talents to contribute to the community and likely took admission spots away from other capable and promising students. Bella and Olivia Jade would have ended up on academic probation or flunking out, unless, of course, there was more bribery or other illegal machinations to make certain that they could pass all their classes. JMO

One of the most irksome things (to me) about this particular case is that after this whole scam to get in, all the hundreds of thousands of dollars involved, fraud pictures, time and effort - and Olivia Jade didn't even bother going to class or actually doing anything with this education opportunity. I mean the crime is the same regardless, but it's not even like she took advantage of.... getting an education. She was just in it to pose for sponsor photos of her decked out dorm room, or go to football games. And so the parents could brag, "oh our daughters go to USC." And put out a USC flag on the front lawn. This whole, "We just wanted to give our daughters the education we never had" is such b.s. This was entirely about social status. Not only did the daughters take up spots that should have gone to deserving, capable students or student-athletes, who EARNED it...OJ didn't even bother going to classes or have gratitude for having access to a higher education, even one she scammed her way in on. It's infuriating.

Broker pleads guilty in college entrance test scandal - Business Insurance

Mark Hauser, 59, will plead guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit mail fraud and honest services mail fraud.

The U.S. Attorney’s office said the government will recommend a sentence of six months in prison, one year of supervised release, a $40,000 fine and restitution.

It said Mr. Hauser, who is based in California, had agreed to pay Rick Singer an amount that ultimately totaled $40,000 to facilitate cheating on his daughter’s ACT exam, in a scheme that involved a supposed proctor who corrected his daughter’s answers on the test after she had completed it.

Mr. Hauser is the 29th parent and the 42nd person overall to plead guilty in this case.

Former USC Water Polo Coach Jovan Vavic Prepares For Trial

Former USC head water polo coach Jovan Vavic was one of 5 defendants in the “Varsity Blues” scandal whose dismissal request was denied in early July, as the judge ordered them to prepare for trial.

As of right now, Vavic and the other 4 defendants in this group do not have a set trial date, but they submitted their proposed jury instructions on July 29th. Vavic also has an interim status conference scheduled for November 11th.

Where LL can do yoga, pilates, learn how to do crafts, fix bikes...meet new friends. Sounds like a college campus. Where they count your head 5 times a day.

Lori Loughlin gets judge approval to serve 2-month prison term close to home in Victorville, Calif.

Loughlin must surrender to the Bureau of Prisons by Nov. 19 at 2 p.m. And expect it to be sooner — so that paparazzi aren’t waiting at the gate when she arrives.

As of Thursday, Loughlin already has a profile set up on the Bureau of Prisons website — and has been assigned the inmate number 77827-112.

Mo is also headed to prison at FCI Lompoc and has the same surrender date and time, so the couple will be serving their sentences concurrently.

The coronavirus will impact their time in jail. The Bureau of Prisons puts all new inmates in quarantine for a minimum of 14 days — or until they are cleared by medical staff. So Loughlin and Giannulli won’t be with the general population at first. In Loughlin’s case, she’ll be isolated for about a quarter of her sentence. Both of their facilities have had positive COVID-19 cases, Victorville has had over 540 positive tests and Lompoc has had almost 1,000 positives in total.
