If anyone watched the (second) sentencing hearing for LL in the Eve Carson (god rest her soul) murder, a psychologist testified at some length about LL's life and social dynamics. He said LL is very concerned with "being a man" (paraphrased, but YKWIM). He also said LL has shown some signs of reflection and compassion, related to his family, and that "time would tell" what path LL will take in regard to reforming, but he felt it could be possible depending totally on LL's choices and behavior.
IMO, if LL was in any way prone to showing compassion "being a man," and reforming, he would have pleaded guilty and prevented the need for this trial. Hinkley (the psychologist) was unsure whether LL is "irretrievably corrupt." I'm not.
