A copy of Andrew Brown’s death certificate obtained by CNN says Brown died as a result of a “penetrating gunshot wound of the head” and died within “minutes” of being shot. The certificate goes on to categorize Brown’s death as a homicide.

Family watched video 10-20 times. Attorneys now describe the 20 second video: Brown was in the driveway. Sheriff truck blocked driveway. His hands were on the steering wheel. Deputies ran up to car shooting. He finally tries to get away.

They were shooting at him before he drove out of the driveway

He was trying to drive away from being shot. Brown avoids officers with his car. Deputies were still shooting at him. Used a AR rifle and several assault rifles.
They were still shooting after he crashed in a tree.

Attorneys say they lost count on how many shots were fired in that 20 seconds. Shots were already being fired when video started. The family saw body camera who was furthest away

I know... like just admit culpability and stop trying to get away with this! I don’t know how they think they will be able to.

I think that videos will come out eventually.......DA didn't help the matter by telling an attorney cursingly that he would not be bullied....but I think the powers that be are terrified of demonstrations which so far, have been peaceful. Hiding the videos is really arousing anger more than just laying the truth out there for people to absorb. jmo

Absolutely it is. And of course people are going to be angry but it’s warranted and they really need to come out ahead of this - although it’s too late for that already.

“At 12:40 p.m. Monday, WAVY’s Kayla Gaskins reported that protesters had shut down the bridge over the Pasquotank River between Elizabeth City and Camden County. An hour later, the Camden County Sheriff’s Office stated that the bridge had reopened to traffic.”

“Elizabeth City State University is also learning remotely for the remainder of the semester. The school urged students to leave campus as soon as possible. Residence halls close at noon on Tuesday, April 27.”

Seems the city anticipates the protests will turn violent and trying to get people out ASAP.

Wooten: Today, we also allowed the family of Mr. Brown and his attorney to privately view the video. This tragic incident was quick and over in less than 30 seconds and body cameras are shaky and sometimes hard to decipher.
They only tell part of the story. Outside investigators both from the SBI and from four other sheriff’s offices are both interviewing witnesses and gathering more information.

Makes it look like all these personnel firing away were maybe up to something shady with Mr. Brown. Like maybe he witnessed something or was involved in something resulting in payback. May not be the case, but this behavior just fosters speculation and mistrust. They would have released all the footage right off the bat if it were righteous, blurs or no blurs. And it is very offensive and calculating to act as though black people will just up and destroy their community if a tape is released when the protests have been peaceful. Provides self-serving reasons not to be transparent while reinforcing stereotypes and shaming them for speaking up. JMO.

My brother and nieces live in Elizabeth City. Everyone is on edge and expecting the worst. The trouble releasing the video and then only being able to view one body cam from far away and that one heavily redacted only throws fuel on the fire, IMO.
I don't see how the Sheriff Department can justify shooting a man in the back, through the back car window.
