The house looks ramshackle and unkept. It wouldn't surprise me if there were no railings at the back, as well.

Supposedly, he did not have a job and she was the breadwinner. I heard he may own some properties, but does not keep them maintained. I am not positive that’s a fact, though.

Nash County sheriff confirms body found is that of missing woman, says foul play involved

[...]

One of her friends told ABC11 that her husband, who is a person of interest in the case, was very controlling.

Taryn Edwards said Lynn Keel wouldn't let his wife be alone with anyone.

"The verbal and emotional abuse was evident to me as a friend," Edwards said. "The atmosphere of the house was always really tense. He hovered a lot, never allowed her to be alone with anybody for extended periods of time."

[...]

Edwards told ABC11 on Wednesday that Diana was her best friend and that she was trying to help Diana leave her husband, but when he found out, he made them cut off their friendship.

"She hugged me. I was crying. She told me not to cry that everything was going to be OK," Edwards said. "When she walked out the door, that's the last time I saw her."

Edwards said she met Diana around 2009 when they were both attending Momeyer Baptist Church.

"She was such a sweet, sweet friend," Edwards said.

Diane's cousin also spoke to ABC11 on Wednesday, saying the mother of two came to North Carolina to live the American Dream -- but it ended up being a nightmare.

"I can't believe it," said Javier Guevara. "I can't believe it. It's very, very sad."

It’s possible, depending on weather conditions and animal activity.

What surprises me, is that they haven’t identified her via dental records.

Unless she doesn’t have any x-rays on file.
Sunday was rather warm weather which may have promoted decomposing.
Since she was in Bogota until adulthood maybe there are no dental records. The only medical records would possibly be from her giving birth to the son who is now 10? Wondering if there are fingerprint records from her job as an ER Nurse?

Nashville, N.C. — The Nash County Sheriff's Office on Wednesday confirmed that a decomposing body found by a Department of Transportation worker on Tuesday is that of a Nash County woman who went missing Friday.
[...]
Sheriff Keith Stone said an autopsy confirmed the identity of the body, which he believes had been in the woods since Keel disappeared on March 9.
Stone would not specify a cause of death for Keel but said, "The cause of death was the act of someone." Stone said Keel's death is being investigated as a homicide.

Does a body decompose that quickly as not to be obvious who it is ? Thanks

I apologize for the bad mental images. We don’t know cause of death. So, if it was a gunshot, or a club, her face might not be recognizable, and dental records might not be too useful. However, I’m sticking with my previous idea, that they know who she is, but they might as well confirm it with DNA.

They have since positively identified her body. We don’t however, know what method they used to determine this.

Maybe a coincidence but his first wife‘s mom (who I think was the property owner) also died on New Year‘s day in 2002.

I see you found that, as well. When I found it in the wee hours this morning, it gave me chills. Also found an announcement of LK's first marriage which indicated the first wife also worked at a hospital. Not sure if I can link it here. I find odd little coincidences interesting.

What did this “person of interest” do for a living? Has he ever had a job, been in the military, anything?

I wonder if Elizabeth’s fall and injury to her forehead on January 1, 2006 had anything to do with anyone’s temper flaring, perhaps after drinking on December 31? I wonder if she had children who may be grown now? She was only 42.

Who’s so unlucky to have one 42 yo wife die from blunt trauma to the head in a home accident on New Years, then 13 years later have your 38 yo wife be killed by homicide?

Her obit didn't mention any kids. From what I've read he doesn't seem to work

Yes, in above freezing temperatures you can have skin slippage within a week. Skin slippage occurs when blisters start to form underneath the skin due to autolysis of the softer tissue beneath the skin. These blisters start within 3-6 days. The skin can slough off in as little as six days with warmer temperatures. (Criminal Justice major, forensic anthropology minor, Ph.D.).
