Lovely home. I wonder if it went under asking price. Doesn't sound like police are any closer
to an arrest.

This seemed like such an open and shut case.

Just wondering, small town, local doctor, good ole' boy police/sheriff department and case will just go away? This may be why she left town so quickly.

My opinions only.

In giving this some thought, it would make sense if the NCDR
was at the closing of this home and put a hold on the proceeds from the house. Don't know if that's possible or if that's what happened but it makes sense to let the owner get the house sold so the NCDR doesn't have to worry about unloading it later.

Just a thought.

If the NCDR was investigating the business but the business owner is now deceased, would the investigation just get dropped?

Oh. That's an awful thought. Wouldn't she be able to sell the business?! Certainly that was worth some money. Or, maybe the NCDR put a hold on that.

Was she an officer of the business?

It would probably not be a viable business to sell until the embezzlement suit was settled. A buyer would want nothing to do with a business with a suit hanging over its head. IMO.

She is accused of embezzlement of a company while it was in business. It would seem to me that the charge is for a past misconduct, therefore it makes no difference that the company is out of business now.

My opinions only.

I looked through the articles but can't find this: has the ME given an official ruling of homicide? I don't think it was suicide but I'm just curious if there's been an official declaration by the ME.

I don’t recall an official statement by the ME as to manner of death.

At this news link, two of three Search Warrants show “NAME OF CRIME” as Murder:

It seems we’ll be waiting a long time to know the results of the NC DOR “investigation for embezzlement”. Most cases appear to take a year or two to resolve.

Here is an example: http://www.dornc.com/press/2016/rippy071416.html

It’s been another month.
Frank McCutcheon was murdered more than FOUR MONTHS ago.
No arrest yet.
What about the gun found in the outside ivy? Was that gun the murder weapon?
Perhaps the killer has friends in high places and won’t ever be arrested.
With just a wink and a nod, some get away with murder.

We keep waiting and watching. I hope his family is applying pressure, and asking for answers.

No updates that I could find.....

At what point will LE stop investigating? Could it be they are still processing evidence?

Frustrating. Something like this happens, and we hear nothing. I would like to know if there's any activity in this case. Sad.

Found this October 2016 news article:
- state medical examiner could not determine the range of the gun from the victim's head at the time of the shooting
- no gun was found near his body
- gun found outside in some rows of ivy
- case is being investigated as a possible homicide

Quoted from SeeSeas above:

"state medical examiner could not determine the range of the gun from the victim's head at the time of the shooting"

I find this odd...can't they usually determine the range by stippling & GSR on the body? Possibly he was shot from a distance?

POSSIBLE homicide?

What the actual heck?

What the actual heck?
I agree. Possible homocide?! Really?

Well maybe they think he shot himself in the head outside, hid the gun in the bushes and then came back inside the house and laid down on the couch and died.
