Man sought in connection to missing Cumberland County 19-year-old | CBS 17

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (WNCN) – The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office issued a Silver Alert for a missing 19-year-old woman and is now working to identify a man in connection to her disappearance.

Kaitlin Marie Benjamin-Olsen was last seen on Saturday at 2:23 a.m. She left a residence on Bill Drive in Fayetteville, possibly in a dark-colored SUV.

The sheriff’s office said she was wearing blue pajama bottoms and a black Grays Creek High School hoodie. Benjamin-Olsen has blond hair and hazel eyes. She has a cognitive impairment.

Deputies are also looking for a man who may have information about her whereabouts. Police are asking the public for help identifying him and a vehicle.

I can't imagine it will be long before the man who took her is identified. Those are very clear pictures of both the vehicle and the perp. I hope and pray Kaitlin is found soon!

The last update by the PD was asking for the public's help in identifying him, and that was two days ago. I would be surprised if his identity was still unknown after the clear pictures of him were made public. Maybe LE now knows who he is, but haven't announced it, because they don't want him to be aware that they know his identity.

Citizens are asked to be on the lookout for KAITLIN MARIE BENJAMIN OLSEN, who is believed to be suffering from dementia or some other cognitive impairment.

She is obviously not just a 19 Yr old who decided to take off. She has some medical issues and posting his picture means they have some serious questions /reasons to talk to him. IMO

According to police reports, the missing teen has the mental comprehension of a 7 yr old child. She was last seen in her pyjamas, climbing into this man's vehicle, at 2:30 in the morning---and has not been seen since. Does this seem like a situation that should be ignored?

Basic human decency says that we should try and find this child because she cannot make these kind of life decisions on her own because of her disability.

The fact that a grown man, who was not known to her family, would come to her home and pick her up in the middle of the night, should concern all of us. JMO

A warrant for what? I think/hope you are just missing the point. This 19yr old has been reported as having the mental capacity of a 7yr old. I don't know if you are a parent but if you had a child who in this case thinks like a 7yr old and went missing, would you report/show concern? This man may have been the last person to see/talk to her so LE wants to talk to him. At no time has it been said he is a danger or did anything. I'm confused as to your argument. IMO

A special needs, mentally challenged teen is not treated the same as the average 19 yr old. Do you think that someone with the mental capabilities of a 7 yr old should be treated like an adult? Should she drive a car, maybe as a Lyft driver, since she is 19?
