An order issued by the public authorities or military forces requiring everyone or certain people to be indoors at certain times, often at night. It can be imposed to maintain public order (such as those after theNortheast Blackout of 2003, the 2005 civil unrest in France, the 2010 Chile earthquake, the 2011 Egyptian revolution, and the 2014 Ferguson unrest), or suppress targeted groups

A daily requirement for guests to return to their hostel

In baseball, a time after which a game must end

In aeronautics, night flying restrictions

curfews are set by state and local governments. They vary by state

Parents can be fined, charged or ordered to take parenting classes for willingly, or through insufficient control or supervision, permitting the child to violate the curfew.

Some cities make it illegal for a business owner, operator, or any employee to knowingly allow a minor to remain in the establishment during curfew hours

Many malls in the United States have policies that prohibit minors under a specified age from entering the mall after specified times

citizens to remain inside, with exceptions granted to those in important positions, such as elected officials, law enforcement personnel, first responders, health care workers, and the mass media.

Baltimore enacted a curfew on all citizens that lasted for five days and prohibited all citizens from going outdoors from 10 pm to 5 am with the exception of those traveling to or from work and those with medical emergencies. This was in response to the 2015 Baltimore protests.

They might be in a tough postition. All is peaceful, it might look as if it overstepping right to peaceful protest. Could escalate - I.E, I am standing here peacefully protesting and now you are hauling us up.

5 minutes until curfew and still large crowds out there
WSOC reporter just said a source at the CMPC said if the protesters remain peaceful they will not arrest right at midnight, they will just continue to tell them to disperse and give them leeway to go home.

Is there a major league game coming up soon? I think I read that. I wonder what time it is for and if the time will be changed

Protesters are continuing to walk around the block. They are chanting and yelling different things. Police don't appear to be stopping protests yet.

A curfew was stated. Regardless if it's peaceful, they need to go home and pick it up after curfew lifts!

The Carolina Panthers play Sunday. No baseball in the Carolinas.

We will see my sense is they will let them continue

No real need to start a rukus at this point

Yep, been switching between Fox and CNN. Cop taking to reporter now saying as long as peaceful, they'll let it be but ready if it "turns sideways."

North Carolina congressman: Protesters 'hate white people'

And this is why black people in North Carolina are so outraged. This is the kind of idiotic statement our elected leaders make regularly around here.

I want to address the recent events in Tulsa, Oklahoma and Charlotte, North Carolina. The Department of Justice is aware of, and we are assessing, the incident that led to the death of Keith Lamont Scott in Charlotte. We are in regular contact with local authorities as their investigation into the shooting begins to unfold. And on Monday, the Justice Department opened a civil rights investigation into the death of Terence Crutcher in Tulsa, Oklahoma. As always, the Justice Department will be thorough, impartial and exhaustive in reaching a determination about this incident.

Woke up this morning to check on Charlotte, slightly annoyed the headlines are "Charlotte protests remained peaceful"...kind of hard to go rioting with the national guard guarding things.

I wake to see that "70% of those arrested aren't from NC." We know this is going on so they need to be prepared to deal with it much, much sooner. jmo
