A curfew was stated. Regardless if it's peaceful, they need to go home and pick it up after curfew lifts!

The Carolina Panthers play Sunday. No baseball in the Carolinas.

I have PSLs and plan to attend. Daytime has been fine. Last weeks game had protesters for BLM, including small children taking donations for their cause, but this was before Mr. Scott's shooting. I do see ticket prices dropping, and several friends are no longer going. Football players such as Olsen, Newton, and Davis have all given public statements urging peace and accountability by all. I think the game will be held as scheduled in Charlotte, unless something dramatic happens today.
Also, may other things have been cancelled. I have tickets to a "I Love the 90's" concert that was cancelled for tonight Uptown. Personally, I thought a bunch of 40-ish women in parachute pants dancing and rocking out to Salt n Pepa is exactly what we need Uptown. Last night, There was an impromptu 'band' set up playing Billie Jean during the protests, and by all accounts it was a good thing.
Eta, I swear that 'suck' was supposed to be such. My players don't suck!

Guess they did't know what they were talking about then. It wasn't a NC reporter, I was watching either a local DC channel or a National news channel.

TY for correcting the info!
My husband told me the same thing, but I saw the tweet, and informed him they our our own.

The question I have is was this a justifiable shooting. No one has presented facts, so far. What caused LE to focus on Scott? Did they ever serve their warrant on the person they were supposedly looking for? Having a gun and "brandishing" a weapon are two entirely different things. So far, this is fishy. Waiting for actual facts. JMO

sorry, wrong thread...again.

  • #511
Sounds like they will not release the video because it does not support probable cause and people will go wild, so they want to investigate to see if they can come up with probable cause. JMO (I think that Scotts hands were not visible in the body cam video.)

LEO's would rather shoot us? Since when? Do you have a link for that? I'm pretty sure Websleuths is LEO friendly.

Websleuths is also victim friendly.

Waiting for the day "non-compliance" becomes a capital offense. Unless he was directly threatening police with that weapon, he did not deserve to die. None of them do. It's so old and so tiresome. Running away, sitting in your car at a traffic stop, walking slowly to your vehicle with your hands up, none of that "non-compliance" means you should get shot to death and yet it keeps happening.

Explain that.

I know that but according to his family he did not own a weapon so I doubt seriously he had a permit to carry. I posted what I did because it speaks to his character.

From Wikipedia. He could have a gun. LE would not know at the time of the shooting if he could or could not have a gun.

From Wikipedia-

carry Edit

Open carry is also legal throughout North Carolina.[26] In the town of Chapel Hill, open carry is restricted to guns of a certain minimum size, under the theory that small, concealable handguns are more often associated with criminal activity. No permit is required to carry a handgun openly in North Carolina. In the court case of State v. Kerner(1921) the defendant ended up getting into some type of confrontation with another man. The defendant proceeded to walk back to his place of work, get his gun, and then return to the scene to fight. The defendant ended up being charged with, "carrying his pistol of the premises unconcealed," which violated a local act applicable to Forsyth County and ended up being a misdemeanor. The defendant was taken to trial and the trial judge then dismissed the charge as unconstitutional. The state then appealed, and the supreme court affirmed. During court, the court stated at the beginning that the Second Amendment did not apply, because "the first ten amendments to the United States Constitution are restrictions on the federal authority and not the states." Therefore, with that being said, it focused more on the state constitution. The state constitution states that: "A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed." The court viewed the provision as protecting the right to carry arms in public. Forsyth County's local act was condemned and seen as distasteful, because it ended up putting a restriction on a persons right to carry a pistol, more so an unconcealed pistol. Although, the case of State v. Kerner helped/made more clear the allowance of openly carrying a pistol, it does not preclude all regulations regarding the carrying of firearms.[27]

Sadly the truth is it seems to be that blacks would rather shoot and kill other blacks rather than leaving them alone. They are the ones who are murdering thousands of their own people every year. It certainly isn't the cops.

In all police shootings of blacks this year the total is around 172 and most of those were justified shootings just like this case will be ruled justified if Scott had a firearm and wouldn't drop his weapon. The black PC knows this case and he said clearing he doesn't go by rumor or speculation. He looks at the facts only which is rarely ever done by the violent protestors when a black is shot by a cop. Even the brother of Mr. Scott is only ranting about white people. Is he not aware it was a black officer who shot Mr. Scott?

Here are the ones who have been shot and killed by cops from September 18 thru September 20th. Which cases have you heard about? The only one listed that I have seen make the national news is Mr Scott's. Why is that I wonder when far more whites were killed during that same time period. Why do they just make local news coverage only while it seems it is the blacks who are given national coverage. Shouldn't the national media cover all cop killings? Or do they conveniently refuse to cover other cases that don't involve a black? Is it done purposefully so that the viewers will really believe only cops shoot blacks more often when in truth hundreds more are whites, Hispanics, and other races. If they are going to cover what they perceive as cops killing those who shouldn't have been shot then why not cover every single case when they kill someone regardless of their race? Imo, after all much of the media's agenda is to bash police officers for using excessive force. So why be selective? Why not be fair and cover them all even though most all of them regardless of race are justifiable shootings.

I believe the reason whites don't come out and do violent protests or any protests for that matter is they look at the circumstances surrounding the individual shootings and know full well that white suspects can also be very confrontational and refuse to comply. Imo, I think most whites believe the white person shot brought the entire thing on themselves. You never see them saying he/she was a wonderful person.........nor do they seem to come out and make them into someone their weren't. They don't seem to jump to conclusions immediately believing rumor and downright lies like as been told in many of these kind of cases that results in violent protests.

As a white myself, I am glad the whites don't act like this even though whites are being shot and killed by cops far more often. Violent acts like this serves no purpose and only incites more violence which never resolves anything. They are trying to destroy Charlotte even though Scott had his firearm and refused to put it down. So once again they are going on a false narrative. It is really like they think no police officer in the land has a constitutional right to defend themselves. They must think that our officers should just stand there and be shot by whomever has a weapon in their hand. If so, that is a dangerous mindset in a country ruled by laws.

Now in OK I certainly think they have valid grievances to do peaceful protests.

Which is why, IMO, his family has to keep up the ruse that "he didn't own a gun". Of course "he" didn't "own" a gun (legally), because they know he would not have been eligible to own a gun legally, because of his prior felonies.

And if he was in possession of a weapon owned by one of his family members, even if that family member purchased it legally, the family member could be convicted of straw purchase, and themselves be guilty of a gun felony. And if it's NOT a gun legally owned by a family member, it's STILL a huge big deal, because this convicted felon had an ILLEGAL gun in the household with children, which means his WIFE could be in a lot of trouble, because she knows he's a convicted violent felon (gun crimes).

His family HAS to keep saying over and over that he did not "own" a gun. The gun "has to" be a book, if you get what I'm saying.

BBM

He had a gun, that is pretty apparent. And an ankle holster, too, from reports. There will be lots of evidence to prove that, IMO, including DNA. He went BACK to the car to RETRIEVE the gun, then didn't drop it whan ordered to. That is extremely significant.

He went back to retrieve a gun? Do you have a link?
